I REALLY miss Rocko's Modern Life

Wow, I just realized how much I really liked that show. I can’t believe that I hadnt noticed until now how that part of my life was lacking. There’s a big void that is unfillable. A big wallaby shaped hole. A wallaby donning a blue shirt and purple triangle with big orange shoes. That show was the coolest. Damn you Nickelodeon. Damn you for selling out and airing the crap that you have now. I want old school Nickelodeon. And I want my Rocko.

I remember that show! That was awesome. Sigh.

Whatever happened to it?

That’s what I want to know! That show was utterly brilliant. Joe Murray was the man. I’d like to see a revival, or at least some reruns or something.

I miss Rocko, too! Anyone know how many episodes there were? I’d buy a Rocko DVD.

Hef was great!

Hef was cool but Satan with the udder on his head was the best by far. I dont know of any Rocko DVD’s but I’d eat baloney for a week to get my hands on one.

Actually, at saome point last week, I don’t remember when, I was flipping through and I actualy caught an episode on Nickleodeon! I don’t remember what day or what time, though, but apparantly an episode or two does get shown!

It is on Nick very occasionally (my little sis tells me). Wow, what a classic. A few weeks ago a group of friends and I jumped into a whole discussion on Nick classics, and Rocco was the majority’s favorite. It was great how it was random and weird, without being disgusting and stupid like Ren and Stimpy.

GET OUT OF MY SALMON BUSHES!

You know what I miss on Nick?

1.All the early Nicktoons-Doug, Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats (before all the new characters and movies and merchadice (sp?), etc, etc…), Rocko’s Modern Life. Hate to blame Hey Arnold!(the show itself is rather harmless, unlike Spongebob), but it was the beginning of the end.

2.All That before Amanda Bynes. It was a really funny show, with Good Burger and Vital Information (there’s some others, but I’m too sleepy to remember them). Then she came in and had to ruin it all. She’s not funny!

3.The random shows that used to be on Nick Jr. Sure, Peter the Gnome and that show about the koalas from outer space (Noozles?) didn’t have much educational value, but they were fun. Education was for Seasame Street (and Eureka’s Castle, of course  )

4.Welcome Freshmen. That was a random show (at least it was when I was 5,anyway)

5.I miss Pete and Pete the most. Then again, we could dedicate an entire thread to missing Pete and Pete, so I’ll leave it at that.

Rocko was awesome. It’s amazing how many jokes I didn’t get when I watched it as it first aired. They used to show it in the wee hours of the morning (around 5:30 or so, I think) when I was getting ready for school a couple years ago. Every now and again I catch it on Nick when I’m flipping through channels, but it’s rare and there’s no scheduled time (I’ve cought some good Ahh! Real Monsters, too).

My favorite episode was the one where Heffer, Philbert, and the Chameleon Bros. (great characters, btw) made the art house film that featured Rocko in the nude. I also liked the one where they have to go to the mall to get Spunky a new dog dish. And the one where Spunky’s in love with the mop. And the one where Rocko tells off his boss because he wants him to fire Philbert from the comic book store. And anytime Rocko sees Melba. Anyway, I’m stopping now. I really like Rocko.

You said it brother. I miss all of those shows as well. You hit the nail on the head too with the Hey Arnold thing because that’s when everything went to hell in a handbasket (including Rugrats).

This is also true. Good Burger was good before that (IMVHO) piece of crap movie came out. Vital Information, Baggin’ Saggin’ Barry among the greats as well.

Damn you!!! We all know that it was DAVID the Gnome. Noozles was the name of the show as well as Maya the Bee. I still remember that show too. Eureka’s Castle was genius. The pinnacle of Nick Jr’s. genius (before that big stupid face would host Nick Jr.).

Can’t say that I remember that one.

Yes, amen brother. I loved that show as well. I also loved Salute Your Shorts, which is also one of the classics. I wish Nickelodeon would go back to the good ol’ days, instead of showing the crap that they air now.

You forgot the one about the frog guy and the meatball. That was great.

The best Rocko episode hands down, was the silent one. That was the episode where none of the characters talked and Rocko went out to buy a new food processor that ended up becoming a psycho that murdered all of the other appliances. That episode was very handsome.

My favorite Rocko moment:

Hef takes Rocko home with him to visit Hef’s family. They are all sitting around the dinner table. Hef’s family are all wolves. Hef is a cow. During an awkward silence, Rocko says, “So, Hef, you never told me you were adopted.” Hef looks around at his parents, his eyes widening and then tearing up. “IS THIS TRUE?”

Yes. Rocko rocked.

And the senile old grandpa calling Rocko a “wildebeast”. Classic.

Stop it. You guys are making me cry. :frowning:

Nick used to be a fanstastic channel. As I grew older, I decided that Nick wasn’t getting worse, I was just growing out of it. Now I look back and realize I was wrong.

Nick has gotten worse. Far, far worse. I would pay good money for DVDs of any of those shows.

Oh, and as for the required favorite episode post…

I love the episode where Rocko and company go up against the City for whatever reason. Throughout the episode, there are several song and dance numbers where everyone acts as if they’re in a muscial… except Rocko.

Rocko: “How does everyone know the words?! sarcasticly whimsical Did you guys have rehearsals or something?”

Hef: holds up a flyer that says “rehearsals Thursday” “Yeah. Didn’t you see the flyers?”

Rocko: loud cartoon blink

I think it’s time for an intervention. How would we go about restoring Nick to its former glory and getting rid of the crap that they show now? I’d trade 50,000,000,000 episodes of Rocket Power or Spongebob for one marathon of Rocko.

It’s amazing how many people loved this show but forgot about it. When you bring it up, everyone remembers it and loves it.

Favorite moments? It’s hard to choose…

The entire Wacky Deli episode, as well as the Fatheads episode, were brilliant.

Rocko and co. spend all day trying to fix Rocko’s car, and even with Filburt’s mechanical prowess they still have no luck. But then Rocko notices a switch on the engine, flipped towards “Broken.” He suggests they try switching it to “Fixed.” It’s just crazy enough to work!

Mr Bighead has a big speech to plan, and he gets a nervous breakdown. All the slapstick sight humor in this episode is great: Ed’s head shattering like glass when he falls, his mouth slipping off, his eyes becoming static, and such. And then Heffer and Filburt go give his speech dressed up as Mr Bighead.
“He’s asking too many questions, what should I do?”
“I don’t know…punch him!”
And then they give their speech…and one of Ed’s eyes deflates, then sputters around the room, but the other board members keep looking ahead intently.
“Ed Bighead…I am your conscience…”
“We”
“What?”
“Say we”
“What??”
“We. We.”
“Okay, wee wee.”
“Teeheehee, say it again!”
“Wee wee!”

Rocko and Heffer are on a flight which gets struck by lightning and starts falling to the ground. It switches points of view from the plane falling to Rocko and Heffer screaming, with each view getting more distorted as the plane picks up speed. At one point, it just shows a neo-cubist painting of Rocko and Heffer screaming. I find that hilarious for some reason.

Mr Bighead is revealed to be a party clown, and everyone starts saying things they’re ashamed of, like “I keep a babboon heart under my pillow” and “I’m wearing english undergarments.” Rocko chimes in with “Well, I’ve always liked…rainbows” and suddenly everyone gives him a disgusted look, then give chase with pitchforks and torches.

And the “Mr Lucky” episode was great, just for that fortune Filburt kept getting. Bad luck and extreme misfortune will infest your pathetic soul for all eternity.

The best part were the sound effects randomly thrown in conversations, like high-pitched screams, sheep calls, chicken sounds, etc.

I could go on and on about how great this cartoon was…

I fully credit a Rocko episode for shaping my concept of “Hell.”
“No! NOOOOOOO—Aw, who cares.”
