They do still show Rocko every now and then. I found out Nick has like a TRL for cartoons. I’ve seen it before. Basically you vote on which cartoons you want to see. Sometimes they have Rocko as a choice. Mostly Spongebob and Rugrats and Hey Arnold and such.
I liked the show too. One of the old good ones, before the onslaught on crappy nick shows forced me to stop watching.
Though one thing I always wondered about was the title. Did Rocko ever have a life that wasn’t modern, or was it just a random adjective put in there?
“And I even got the fat guy”
“Who? That? That’s not the fat guy. THAT’s the FAT GUY!”
I love Rocko … the good thing about living in TV-challenged Europe is reruns of old US cartoons
My fave episode was the one where Rocko’s aunt comes to visit and confuses Hef with Rocko all the time: “MY, YOU’VE GROWN FAT!!!”
[Pete & Pete aside]
You know the house that Pete & Pete was filmed in? I lived in it before Nickelodeon rented it … I always remember it fondly during the trailer.

Then there was the ep where Rocko and Heifer go to Rocko’s uncle’s ranch. There’s a scene (which has now been edited out!) where Heifer decides to sleep in the barn. The next morning, the uncle goes to the barn to hook up the cows to the milking machine.
He finds Heifer.
He has an extra hose.
The expressions on Heifer’s face.
The tearful goodbye scene. Between Heifer and the machine.
One bit that I have no idea how they got it in the cartoon.
<Scene of a crowded subway car>
Postoffice worker: Ever since I got laid off the post-office I’ve felt a little… DISGRUNTLED!
<Everyone clears off>
Post-office Worker: WHOWEE! Now I got myself some swingin room!.
Another good moment was when Rocko and Hef go on a road trip to see the rock shaped like a nose (can’t remember the name). For roadtrip music they have Greatest Disco hits performed on bagpipe, which promptly gets stuck and played continually on repeat. We watch Rocko get more and more frustrated until he snaps and tries to remove the tape with a crow bar. If I remember correctly he ends up beating the deck into pieces.
Hey, Nick isn’t all bad. As Told by Ginger is a great show with heart. Invader Zim, well okay, they screwed up there. If only there were a way to combine the old glory of Nick (Pete and Pete, Rocko, old school Doug, old school All That) and the new good shows (Ginger, Zim, The 100 Deeds of Eddie McDowell was funny for the first two seasons, then it went downhill) into some super-awesome network. Sigh.
If you’ll recall the opening sequence to the show, it shows Rocko jumping around the outback with no clothing on, just like a regular wallabee (or however you spell it).
No one around me (physically) has ever seen Rocko. They think I’m completely off the rocker when I walk down the street humming “tra-la-la!” and say things like “I feel nothing.” (“Rocko’s Modern Christmas”)
Rocko, How I Miss Thee!
You can buy VHS versions of some of the episodes from Amazon but the Powers That Be have not yet picked up the petition.
Yes, I have signed the petition to bring Rocko and Ren and Stimpy to DVD. It has always been my comedic dream to see a Rocko DVD. If that every comes through, I will be fufilled as a human being spiritually.
I think I fell in love with my husband because he reminded me of Rocko.
I was happy to catch it last week on Nick. Yea!
[Pete and Pete aside] It’s on every night on Noggin. Yea! How many children’s shows regularly featured cameos from Iggy Pop, Michael Stipe, Juliana Hatfield, and Patty Hearst? Amazing. [/Pete and Pete aside.]
I loved those shows! They have touched my heart. I am the person today I am because of them! I loved that show what was it now? Oh yeah: Dude Ranch, Camp Wilamna? or something like that. Pete and Pete was fantastic as well. Rocko, Ren and Stimpy was a little too disgusting, but still! I AM SIGNING THAT PETITION!
The ranch show was Hey Dude. I still remeber that one too. The one about the camp was the one I was talking about earlier, Salute Your Shorts. Those shows were the foundation of my early childhood, but Rocko is the one that I miss the most.
