I give up. Can’t get a picture to the right size. I downloaded Gimp, resized an image, saved it, then tried to install it and it failed. Oh, well.

The constraints are 50x50 OR 19.5KB in size. Make sure the pic obeys both these parameters. A really easy way to do that is to reduce the quality of the image–at 50x50 that’s not going to matter a bit. I can’t remember how Gimp does that–I’ve been using XnViewer for a while now, it’s low profile and reasonably robust. Gimp was super overkill for me.

A quick and dirty command for those who use Unix:

 convert old-image.jpg -resize 50x50 new-image.jpg

Those wanting to resize their image can use IrfanView.

File -> Batch Conversion/Rename -> Select image file -> Click Add -> Output Format: Check Use Advanced options -> Click advanced -> Check Resize -> Choose 50 width 50 Height pixels -> Also choose resampling for high quality -> ok -> options -> 100% quality bwahahahaha just be sure it ends up the proper size -> Output directory: Make it diffferent from where the file is -> Start Batch when you’re done tinkering.
