I was in Labor(Day) for 24 hours! - A Relaxing MMP

Morning all. Did the Braunsweiger run early this morning and found out why you don’t start a drive early on a school day… Still, I am now stocked up until Thanksgiving with my favorite lunchmeat and have consumed some of my gains for lunch, so all is well. No soccer today so will head over to the gym for swimmin’ -n- sauna in a bit.

Butters, sounds a lot like my recycle bin, it’s Blue and as big as my trash can, so a once a month pickup suits me just fine.

FCM, glad they made it through the overnight drive, hope Toby doesn’t mind the crowd. And those chairs…I got nothin’

shoe, I don’t smoke, but ya done good helping out a friend in need.

Taters, if work gets to much, just remember you’ll be seeing your grandkids soon…

yankers, now you have me curious about your early callers; you have raccoons in your area?

Bright Tree, absolutely loved that story about Ziggy and the candy bar; and hounds and your food can make for some stories…

BBBoo, did you volunteer for this, and how did you hear about it? I’d be willing to sleep for science if they’d give me breakfast at the end…

swampy, the big trash can goes out on the curb this evening…which of course means the garbage guys won’t be around until 2pm or so. But if I leave it for the morning, I’ll hear them outside about 7am…

OK, need to put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start it to working. All y’all take care.

It’s been an interesting morning. FIL woke up and alternated between “I want to die” and “I want to leave” - he hadn’t had any of his meds since earlier yesterday, so he was all messed up. Plus he hadn’t eaten or had anything to drink. At one point, he was crying. But now that he’s had meds and food, he’s calmed down and is close to normal. He played with Tobias a bit and for the moment, Taz is holding him in the recliner. I think once he’s back on a schedule, he’ll do OK.

Our pellets are being delivered on Monday. The inlaws are going to see the apartment complex on Tuesday, and one of the residents will show them around her unit which is the size they want. Then on Weds, they meet with our money guy. I expect we’ll leave next Firday, spend Sat in Ocala, then return home on Sunday. So we’ve got that to look forward to…

Tobias just crashed, poor li’l guy. Hope he gets a decent nap today. Meanwhile, time to rejoin the fambly…

I slept long but not well. I kept waking up and wondering where the heck all the smoke was coming from. I kept mentally checking to see if I left anything on, wondering if I should close the window, etc. No smoke alarm or fire truck sirens. Turns out there was a brush fire about half a mile from me. It’s clear-ish out there, but it still smells really smoky.

Boo, I hope you got a good night’s sleep despite all the leads and trussing. That is, I hope you slept and they diagnosed the issue. I knew someone who got sent home–a 100-mile trip–at 2. a.m. because he couldn’t sleep. He was there for insomnia.

Thanks so much, but I don’t feel patient. The stick-tuitiveness is really just desperation. I hate things being this blurry. And now I have a new worry: what if this place CAN’T make the lens for some reason? Few people (need to) wear this kind of lens, so it’s a tiny market, and I don’t think there are other makers. OK, best not to go down that road. LOVED the Ziggy story!

shoe, glad you’re past the death-iversary grieving. Only a deep, abiding love could cause such deep, abiding grief, but I so wish the latter would ease up each year. Yay for the music-bopping! And the record-setting close!

FCM, I covet those chairs. OK, kidding. I get a kick out of “luxurious” chairs on gravel with a pickup truck in the background. Glad FCD got home safe and sound. Hope you survive what sounds like an exhausting day.

In my family, Mom had dinner ready when Dad got home from the office, though she worked, too. Dad cooked breakfast every morning and got us kids off to school. But I married a guy who couldn’t/wouldn’t cook, so I know your envy.

Taters, I don’t envy you the work insanity. I DO envy the grandkid insanity!

Just a quick post to say that I am behind on the MMP and I’m thinking of you all. Hugs, and yays, and boos as needed.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

ETA:

Rent them? Pay money for them? The mind boggles.

That’s cruel.

I thought so, too. I guess he was there so his doc could determine he really wasn’t sleeping at all? But if so, and if the staff thought they now had enough info, why not let him stay a few more hours? Poor guy.

Well, shitballs. It’s the 'rona alright. Three years, darnit. Three years we’ve avoided it. Oh, well. Overlygirl is devastated. She convinced she’s going to make my mom sick, insistent that she’ll never go back to school and so on. I reminded her that this will be just another virus that’s stored in her immune system to keep her healthy in the future. But she’s not having any of it. Poor kid. Overlyboy must’ve brought it home. Guess it’s time to get more tests. I’m a little stuffy but otherwise okay, but I’ll probably start swabbing the nose, too.

Damn kids. Always bringin’ home the cooties.

Yep, just one of those days.

It does feel like Thursday, minus Vogon contructor fleets hanging in the air the way bricks don’t, of course.

< ahem >

But glad FiL is a bit more sorted out.

For $100 you have have 12 delivered to your house. For $500 you have have 4 delivered to your house.

At least he wouldn’t fall asleep at the wheel.

{{{{wordy household}}}}

It ain’t over til at least one pet horks.

Oh, no! My friends who are still teaching say that’s been the #1 worry of teens who test positive: that they’ll give it to a grandparent. I hope she feels better–emotionally and physically–very soon. I also hope you don’t have/get it.

M. called. She said the person she talks to at the contact lens company says every time they make my lens, it doesn’t “set” right, so they have to start over. This does not engender confidence. In fact, I’m worried.

this is waste management I’m told legally trash pickup is from 8 am to 9 pm
tho tomorrow they’ll be in a hurry to catch up because of taking labor day off

Not sure where you live, but I’ve seen the trash trucks come empty dumpsters at my apartment complex at all hours.

Well they used to start at 5 AM but after they started using the modern trucks where it just grabs with this chain-driven claw and dumps it as loud and as hard as possible people complained about the noise… and the city trash franchise was being renewed in a city council election year they put the rules in for residential areas

These things can slam a trash can down o hard it shoved the wheels through the bottom of our trash can …

it was the first time city hall’s 2 meeting rooms were filled to capacity for the “public comments” part of a utility meeting

Howdy Y’all! The procurement of provisions and the mowage of da yahd were accomplished. This is like mega productivity for us! Sloth and nappage were also accomplished along with the sippin’ of the celebratory beerverage after mowage. The shrimpies 'n grits with steamed spare guts, prepared by OYKW, were especially nummy.

MOOOOOOM my mom taught all five of her young’uns (one girl, four boys) to cook, clean house, do laundry, includin’ how to iron, sew a button on a shirt, and in general how not to be complete incompetent snobs. Thus, if’n we didn’t or don’t, it’s all on us. OYKW’s mom did the same with him and his sibs. If the podcast consists of say, thirty minutes of me snorin’, would you still subscribe?

I say the chairs have Kardashian written all over 'em. Definitely white trash with money chairs. Elvis would’ve loved them in Graceland.

wordy here’s hopin’ overly girl is over the plague soonest. We could do the at home test, but have chosen to let CVS wipe our brains.

shades so the people in your town got together and did some trash talk. I crack me up!

My mom is of the mindset that there are boy jobs and girl jobs, so I guess I was brainwashed from a young age. Funny how stuff like that sticks… I know better, but deep down inside, something twitches just a little.

The grands are gone and the house is quiet. I need to get dishes done, then I can chill.

FIL is doing better - he’s more coherent, tho still forgetful. His brain chemistry is getting back into balance. So what remains to be seen is if they can be convinced to relocate here. Fingers crossed.

And now, off to finish chorage.

bright tree, your Ziggy story tickled me. Having been owned by a basset, I concur that nothing edible is safe around them.

Glad FCD and the in-laws made it to Merryland safely Mooooooom. It sounds like FIL is getting somewhat back on track for him.

{{{wordy family}}}

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. I have another 0915 appointment to get shot tomorrow, so I took the day off irk (that would put a 3 hour hole in the middle of my day had I chosen to go to irk). I’ll be so glad when ragweed gives it up this year.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Much fern and St. John’s wort carnage (vegetage) has occurred, and more to come. We picked up kale starts for the empty strawberry bed and I hauled more books to the donation centers. We’re starting to lay out the next vacation options in an ongoing COVID-affected series of cancelled attempts. Perhaps 8th time’s the charm?

I’m reading a stack of books by high school and college friends. I just finished An Unkept Woman by Allison Montclair and started Wolf in the Shadows by Maria Vale.

Busy day. First-of-the-month datalanche, of course. Mrs. L.A. said we were out of toilet paper, and we needed cat food. So instead of walking for lunch, I went into Bellingham. I stopped off at La Gloria for some chicharrones, but they didn’t have any. ‘No cook,’ I was told. Down to PetSmart for 60 or 70 pounds of cat litter, and 22 pounds of kibble. Then to Costco. I got the bog rolls. As long as I was there I got some paper towels. We’ll need them eventually And wine, wine not?. Got home and unloaded the car, and saw that I had a text from The Missus. She said, ‘Got TP.’ So now we have two Costco packages of toilet paper. That’ll last a while. Apparently we were at Costco at about the same time. Maybe at the same time.

Went back to work, picked up the tomato plant that was blown over by the wind, worked a little extra, fed the cats, unloaded the Spousal Unit’s car when she got back, and went for my 2.5 mile walk. Now I’m cooking ground beef and broccoli.

I have gotten 10 scam calls from “Amazon” in the last 4 hours. As soon as I said “you are scammers” they hung up. I asked one if Kumar was going to White Castle.

Went to California Pizza Kitchen. Split the avocado egg rolls with my friend then we each had a small wedge salad. Yummy.

Evening all. Watched soccer (European Champions Cup tournament) and slothed a bit, so didn’t make it to the gym for swimmin’ -n- sauna until after 5pm; then came home and fixed myself a cheeburger for dinner. The gym scale says 276.6 lbs, so the 275 lb barrier may be close to falling. Only problem is keeping my jeans from falling off, I’m on the next to last notch on my belt.

FCM, I was in charge of fixing breakfast for my brother and I during high school, but Mom never did teach us to cook. Glad FIL is doing better, keep him on the meds schedule.

wordy, sorry about the COVID epidemic in your household. Hope everyone recovers quickly.

It’s also possible that they won’t show up until Firday, they sometimes don;t get to us until late after a Moanday holiday. Still will take the trash out

nellie, all appropriate (and if necessary, inappropriate) appendages are crossed hoping they get one of the contacts to set right.

OK, getting a bit tired from the late exercise, we’ll see what tomorrow brings. All y’all take care.
