Not sure I like my bees at the moment…OK, granted, I am trying to steal their honey, but they have plenty spare and there’s no need for the reaction I’m getting.
If their temperament doesn’t improve with the new queen they made, I’m staging a revolution come spring.
I’m up & being productive. I woke around 3:30 or so & couldn’t get back to sleep, jet lag has that wakeup time as late morning so I ended up going with it; laundry is finishing. I’m sure I’ll pay for it later.
I went to irk yesterday & everyone was like, “Why’d you come in today?” Ummm, because no one told me I could take a day off to recover. :smack: Anyway, I left early, came home & took a nap. Woke up & looked at the clock-radio; it read 7-sumpin; given it was light out, I wasn’t sure if that was AM or PM (my watch is in 24hr time but the clock-radio isn’t). Shook a few of the cobwebs off & realized I was supposed to be somewhere at 6:30. Got there an hour+late; someone looked at me & said, “WTH, you look like you just woke up.” Ummm, I did.
I figger Tootsday was a 40+ hr day, almost 48 hrs. I did get some nappage in but nowhere near the 16 hrs I should have gotten in that period, probably only ¼ of that. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it until it was too late to use the lounge but I got bumped up to Business Class. Not as must leg room but I had 3½ windows of plane, a seat that folded flat, & even more wonderful service than Premium Economy (& my feet didn’t touch the front of my space so who cares about that ‘extra’ leg room anyway.)
Still need to determine where I’m sleeping tonight & what’s happening in the moaning…& whether I’m wearing the race t-shirt I got there to irk. We can wear t-shirts but I feel it’s unprofessional; OTOH, I got it because of irk trip.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and partly cloudy (partly N.O.S.?) for the day. Looks like we had rain overnight as well. Today I shall go over to the church house to perform some [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties, take care of candles and then go to Sam’s for stuff. I need to get gas for the mowers at some point before next mowage so may do that as well. I do that at the convenience sto’ just up the road from da cave because ‘tis easier than haulin’ gas cans all over town. OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for Mexican comestibles so we shall go to the good Mexican place for sup. I suspect the largest part of that gnawin’ and cravin’ is for one of their gigantic margaritas. OLÈ!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.
Up and adulting. The weather this weekend looks perfect so I may do the flea-flea-market (rather than the antique version) and will head out shortly to reserve my spot. Two days of getting rid of crap - woohoo!!!
Morning all. Up at 6am for reasons unknow and have been doing soccer stuff (my 12U girls team is now up to 14 players, and if remembering all their names isn’t tough enough, I have TWO sets of identical twins on the roster…), but now need the weather to cooperate so we can play on Sunday (40% chance of rain today/tonight/tomorrow).
ruble, good luck with the crap riddance.
spidey, as one who has a few 12-16 hour flights under my belt, coming home tends to be harder on the system than going. But yeah, Bidness class is the way to go.
All y’all have a good Firday, me, I think nappage is in the plans…but BLT’s first!
Tis cold and rainy outside.
The trip to the park was a short one. When I asked Ripple if he was ready to go home, he took off running for the gate.
It wasn’t so cold when I got to the park, 69 and cloudy, but I got wet and the temp dropped to 65. I ran the heater in the truck the whole way home.
Have a safe trip FCM
I had taken the morning off, but I think the power lines aren’t going to be replaced in the rain, so I rescheduled myself for this morning.
Do you know the old joke about Microsoft Tech Support? It’s still true. I now work as a programmer in a Microsoft shop, and have to regularly research how to make a Microsoft thing work. I’ll pass by 10 Microsoft pages in a google search if necessary.
Bees are baffled by the sudden disappearance of approximately 20lbs of honey this evening. Hive members interviewed state that they’re sure it was there yesterday, before a HUGE white thing suddenly yoinked off entire upper storey of the hive before inexplicably replacing the roof undamaged. The situation was complicated by a large cloud of smoke. Two brave bees gave up their lives attempting to sting the huge creature, but due to its apparently extremely thick hide, they were unable to drive it off. Witnesses are sought.
Just returned from a two-day trip to Silver Falls State Park about an hour south of Portland. It’s often called “the jewel of Oregon’s state parks”, and rightly so. 9,000 acres of old-growth forest, 25 miles of hiking trails, and ten waterfalls, four of which can be walked behind because of the trail system that was built by the CCC and WPA during the Great Depression. You know, back when government served the people. A stunningly beautiful place.
I think you may have just flung a gnawin’ and cravin’ onto me!
Unless the HUGE white thing could be described, rightly or wrongly, as carrying an ‘assault weapon’, that wouldn’t make the news over here.
Got the truck canopy upended onto the front lawn so’s I can vacuum out the cobwebs inside, and then I can move the garbage and recycling cans back there from the driveway. But first I think I’ll weedwhack all the foliage back there I haven’t been able to get at with the lawn mower.
But firster, I have to go get more ink cartridges for the printer. There’s an enormous amount of paperwork involved in buying a house these days.
I blame the gummint!
Would you all like to know how evil I am" Then gather around, fellow Mumpers, and let me tell you what happened this afternoon.
I went grocery shopping at around 5:00PM, on a Friday, and in a store along a busy road out of the center of town. The parking lot was packed, and I do mean packed. I didn’t even try for a spot close up, and parked most of the way out in what seemed to be one of the only spots open. Other cars were going slowly up and down the lanes, waiting for someone to leave. I
I didn’t have a lot to buy, so when I left I was carrying two plastic bags in one hand, with my keys dangling from the other. As I hit my parking lane a car rounded the corner, and, seeing the keys I suppose, slowed down to stalk me.

Cue Jaws soundtrack*
I walked along on the opposite side from where I was parked, and the car on my heels hopefully followed after me,… Nobody was coming in the opposite direction, and I could see there were no open spots on the side where I was walking. When I got opposite my car I quickly darted across and got in. I heard two or three angry honks behind me but could not tell if they were accompanied by any statements concerning my character.
So that’s it, now you know, I am a terrible person.
That sounds about what I got from the MS websites.
Irked, swung through CVS for a prescription and Tar-jay (the store where my CVS lives) for some hair conditioner. Then it was on to Staples for a couple of binders for the project I’m working on, Hickory Falls (a decent local steakhouse) for a gift card for the guy who installed my system and through the cheap Chinese for a quick supper. Got home, ate and took Nelson to the dog park for a romp.
Tonight was the first time in about a month that all of his posse was there. The chihuahui, Patch and Blanco, the dachshund Watson, the little black mix Murph and the hound mix Remy. They all ran and played until dark when the parks department came to close up. I now have a tired pupper in my lap.
Managed to get soccer practice for the girls done despite the threat of rain and a couple of rumbles of thunder that made us stop practice for 15 minutes. Games are tomorrow (weather permitting) and I expect I’ll be a tired guy by 3Pm or so.\
Currently working on charging and configuring my birthday toy. 8" Lenovo Android tablet. Primary intended use is as e-reader and possibly game device on the train.
One side (the side with the railings) is pretty much done. I’ll decide later how to close the gap between the roof post and the house. Tomorrow I’ll get some lumber to frame a doorway to the yard, to make two 2.5 foot sliding doors for said doorway, and to frame two doors to the uncovered part of the deck and to make 4-foot sliding doors. And of course, I’ll put up some fencing. One hitch is that I only bought three pocket door hardware kits for the sliding doors. I’ll need to get one more.
