Holy crap, was yesterday a long one! We left home shortly after 5:30. Along the way, we made several stops that took way longer than usual - FIL was really having a rough time of it. Traffic was mostly good, but there were a couple of relatively minor accidents that needed to be looked at and several construction zones where we had to slow. All told, it was almost exactly 15 hours door to door.
For me, one of the lowlights was our lunch stop at Chik-Fil-A. Honestly, I don’t get the appeal. It was the most mediocre hunk of chicken ever foisted on a hungry soul. On the other hand, we later made a stop for some DQ.
No clue why I woke so early. Today, I will take MIL grocery shopping, and we’ll have Sonny’s for lunch. I hope we can head home before 3, and maybe hit NC for the night. FL and back in one weekend is the definition of bat-crap crazy!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 92 and a fifty percent chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. TWPTB say tonight, tomorrow, and Moanday will be stormy. We shall see. No plans involve leavin’ da cave today. I suspect a certain someone will have somewhat of a sleep in this mornin’ as a certain someone had two hyuuuuuuge margaritas at sup yestiddy. He went to bed around nine last night and looks to be deep in slumberland as I post. Dependin’ on the weather, some quality cee-mint pond time may be had. Any need to feed shall be via forage. There are plenty of sammich makin’s.
MOOOOOOM glad y’all made it safe and sound. I agree about Ick-Fil-A. Never understood the appeal. Hope y’all get out of there soonest today.

I was hoping they were kidding about CFA, but they all really like the place.
I thought I forgot to pack my toiletries, but they were just hidden in the bag. I’m showered and dressed and ready to take MIL grocerying. FCD is still abed. Can’t wait to head back home.

Up, breakfasted, caffeinating, towels in the wash, puppy crate cleaned and getting ready for KP. I will purtify to go get the USB port fixed on the car in a bit, buy groceries, come home and get ready to go to a housewarming/pool party.
EYP posted a thing his daughter said on the book of faces. She apparently didn’t want to put on shoes. EYP told her she had to since they were going to a restaurant. Daughter replied: “It’s not exactly a restaurant, it’s Waffle House.” I already love this child to pieces but now I feel we are truly kindred spirits.
It is a beautiful day here, breezy and N.O.S. with a high of 77.

Probably get in some yard irk, and I need to do some laundry.
My son went down to empty the dehumidfier and change the furnace filter.
Also had to clean up a dead mouse this morning. YUK!

MIL has refilled her fridge and pantry. I got a lot of Sony’s BBQ sauce. FCD is out somewhere with his dad. Lunch will be at Sonny’s, then we’ll head home. Wonder how far we’ll get today??
I don’t particularly like their chicken, but I can say nice things about their bacon, egg and cheese breakfast biscuits. They come in a close second to Tim Hortens biscuits.
Howdy Y’all! We had some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. 'Tis all bright and N.O.S. out. None of the predicted rain/tstorms/apocalypse at all. :dubious: Anywho, we are all showered and sammiches have been consumed. I think we shall watch Mama Mia on Netflix in a bit, cause, why not sing along with ABBA!

The weather war perfect; maybe too perfect. Not a lot of people and not a lot of sales. But some things I really really wanted gone are gone so I’m OK with it. Got home to find out Da Jungle hiccupped and deleted my shift choices so I had to go in and do it all over again. Other than that just a generally adult day.
Evening all. The rain predicted for today decided to give a big raspberry to the weather forecasters and never showed up. So we played in 80-90F heat with a buring sun (and I have the burning to prove it). Out at the fields from 8am-2:30pm. Boys 10U and 12U won, girls 12U lost, so a mixed day. Bathed and rested and had my Sunday noon dinner as a Saturday Night treat (Longhorn Steak house, and even had a beer (Coors Light), something I do maybe every other month.
Don’t feel like bed yet, but I suspect I’ll be sleeping in tomorrow.
FCM, you guys be careful driving home.

So, TWPTB did get it right for this evenin’. As I post a hyuuuuuuuuuuuge tstorm with torrential rain is occurin’. This could go on for most of the night. Fine by me as we’ll just go sleepy bye through it all. That is, unless the weather radio thingy decides to go bonkers. Thing is LOUD when it sends out an alert!
The housewarming/pool party went well. Got to visit with a lot of friends and take a dip.
The car didn’t get fixed today. We did find out that it wasn’t a blown USB port, but a Bluetooth issue. I have to make an appointment with the master tech come Monday and they’ll give me a loaner until it’s repaired. It will be nice to have useable navigation again. I winged it today by blue toothing google maps and got audio only as long as I didn’t try to play the radio. That helped going to a residential neighborhood full of cul-de-sacs and dead ends.
As for CFA, I used to like their chicken salad sandwiches and side salads, but their chicken tenders, sandwiches and nuggets weren’t great. I rarely patronize them (like when that’s what’s provided for meetings) because their politics suck.
I already love this child to pieces but now I feel we are truly kindred spirits.
