This is driving me crazy. There’s a movie scene running around in my head for the last several days, and I can’t remember what movie it’s from. It’s a romantic comedy of sorts, from the 80’s or possibly early 90’s, certainly no later than that. The couple goes to a party, where the girlfriend warns the boyfriend (I wanna say it’s Nicolas Cage, but nothing in his IMDB listing rang a bell) about this older woman who “always whispers parts of her sentences she finds too disturbing to say out loud.”
Cut to the party scene where the woman in question says, “Did you hear about Mrs. O’Reilly? [whisper] Cancer!.” She gives a few more lines, all of which are very funny, and then she asks the boyfriend, “So how did you two meet?” The boyfriend leans closer and whispers, “In prison!” Later on there’s a fight in the parking lot where everyone runs out and the woman says, "I knew it, I knew it…[whisper] drugs!"
I think I got most of that right…what’s really bugging me is that I know I’ve seen this movie SEVERAL times, it’s even one of my favorites, but for the life of me I CAN’T REMEMBER WHICH MOVIE IT WAS!!! (And I have a feeling I’ll remember about five seconds after I hit submit…)
