((((Sari}}}}. Take care.
Howdy Y’all! Mowage got accomplished as did sloth and nappage. The General’s sup was swiped as well. Thus was it in swampland today.
{{{sari}}} I am sorry for your loss. Your mom. your son, you, and the rest of the family are in my prayers. I am glad her passing was a peaceful one.
{{{sari and family}}} Hugs to you and yours.
swampy, I love the calendar feature on my phone. It pings me so’s I don’t forget stuff that I knew I had to do.
Sending good vibes / congratulations toward Fairy Chat Estates.
JtC, there are empty floss bobbins in the cubby, but I’m thinking that you were seeing the odds & ends organizers. They’re 1.5"X12"X1" and compartmentalized for brads, eyelets, beads and other odds and ends. Sis passed them along to me years a go and they fit well in the cubbies of the roll top. I use floss bobbins for, you guessed it, floss, but also for small cuts of ribbon. Most of the ribbon resides on five rods attatched to my studio wall.
TGIT! Irked, came home, walked Nelson (it’s too hot for the dog park, so we’ll go in the morning) and et. Sloth shall ensue.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Went in for a CT scan today for my pet aneurysms. Much easier than an MRI, for sure. I won’t know if anything has changed until after the neuro reviews them, of course.
Animal Control dropped off the trap - I’ll set it up later - it would be nice if I could catch 2 kittens at once. I’ll get the basement bathroom set up in the morning if we catch any of them overnight. If I catch Momcat, I’ll release her because I’m not going to confine her till I can get her fixed. Once the kittens go to the rescue folks, we’ll see if momcat hangs around or splits.
I’m worn out - I did 3 loads of laundry today, wrangled the kids, and stripped and remade the bed. I stopped at three stores on the way home, trying to get a loaf of bread. There was none to be had at Aldi or two Dollar General stores - what’s the deal with that??? Just one more stoopit thing.
On the other hand, gas is down to $4.15 at WaWa - at the rate it’s been dropping, it may go under $4 in a week…
Oh, and when I drove thru Wendy’s because I needed a frosty, the guy at the register asked if he could pay for my order. He said he does it for one person every day. What a nice surprise!
Evening all. Pedaled my way to 800 calories (if the machines don’t lie) and took a full bath for the first time in weeks due to the water issues. While showers are fine and the gym has good ones, a shower is just a shower, but a long hot bath is a soak… as usual after exercise and soakage, nappage followed, but I used the alarm so it was only 30 minutes or so. Need to start dinner here in a few minutes, also need to see if any mail came today (and check how much water a bath uses–I’ve become a born-again meter reader).
FCM, nice of the guy to pay it forward like that.
doggio, how does that place not get written up by corporate?
flyboy, sounds like your boss cares about his people…I hope you know how rare a thing that can be.
OK, need to put some attire on (appropriate or not) and get the mail/check the meter and then commence dinner preparations. All y’all have a good night.
Because
A. We keep things from going off the rails
B. The major issue is machinery, and that’s on Corporate, not us.
We just now saw an otter in the back yard. An otter. In the back yard! I’ve heard there were otters in the general area, but this is the first one I’ve seen in the almost-19 years I’ve lived here. We do have a seasonal creek in the bak yard.
That is so very kewl! I’ve never seen one in the wild, I am pretty jealous!
I’ve seen raccoons in the wild, but never one drinking from a hummer feeder either.
I did once see bats drinking from our hummer feeders. I’m pretty sure I could see them again if I waited up long enough cause the syrup levels drop almost every night.
Its still hot here. At least we have a home built with heat in mind. If we had one of those freezes with no power like happened in Texas, we would freeze to death the first night.
Those were what caught my eye because I have a bunch of them for spooled floss. They are handy, aren’t they? Do you use jewelry findings for your work? I usually buy an assortment with just a few I need because I can’t just buy the few. I’d be happy to share if I have something you want. If you want gardening or sappy romance findings, I’m pretty sure I have what you need. I also have a whole bunch of left over seed beads.
There won’t be a shop at the needlework seminar which is both disappointing and a good thing. I wouldn’t overspend because I always set a limit (and have just that much cash and no more) and I really don’t need more stuff, but oh my gosh, the wonderful random things we used to be able to find. I have metallic threads I bought 30 and 40 years ago just because they felt so good in my hands.
I make hubs wear long sleeved shirts when we go out because I don’t want to be arrested for elder abuse.
Hubs has been all kinds of grumpy today because of the bandages on his feet. I had to wrap the tape under his feet and he’s walking around like he’s scared to touch the floor.
And when you’ve been prayed for by our swampy the heavenly choirs listen, as it should be.
sari~holding you in the light.
Here’s some hugs too {{{{{ }}}}}. The story about your son hugging your mom tugged at my heart. Will be thinking of you both over the next few days. You’ve got a host of Mumpers standing beside you.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to…heave? clerk? watch random electronics go on the fritz?

Buddy apparently shares Allie’s talent for hiding. I have no idea where he materialized from, but shaking the treat container is a reliable way to find either of them. They hear that, here they come, and frequently getting vocal about it.
damn my condolences at least you did get to see her … when my mom had passed I hadn’t seen her for 3 weeks
{{{{{sari}}}}} my deepest condolences to you and your family, it is a truly awful time when you have already been told the end is so close. I’m so glad you got to see her and your son hugged her too, and that she had family with her at the end. There will be some tough times ahead, remember you have all of the mumpers to lean on when you need us.
Morning, mumpers! Having posted my serious post to sari, I can do the usual frivolous nonsense for the day. It’s 15c/59f with a predicted high of 21c/69f and mostly cloudy. Weather app is curiously British today in saying “Do we talk about the weather because we have fucking nothing else in common?”, given our obsession with weather discussions ![]()
Anyway, it’s cool and cloudy out there and there’s been some rain overnight which is good. The folks across the road are having some decking installed today so there are a couple of guys cutting wood and generally making decking-installing noise, with a radio playing. It doesn’t bother me, I can put headphones on and listen to my own music, or just have theirs as background noise. 'im indoors is next door grumbling. He complains about all sorts of noise outside, I understand that the neighbour’s constantly barking dog gets on his nerves, as do the other neighbours and their teenage kids/friends being outside shrieking at each other, and the adults getting drunk and shouting at each other…he really needs to live on a desert island!
sari I almost forgot to answer your last question about royalty shoving embarrassing family members in the Tower! Normally, probably not. A lot of the time, the monarch could effectively banish people to their country estate or a convenient royal castle where they would be confined although they’d have the freedom to wander the buildings and grounds, but wouldn’t be allowed to leave unless it was under close supervision. A lot more comfortable than being in the Tower, I should think!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and maybe rain this afternoon. Or not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly on this. We shall get our haids shorn this mornin’. After that, OYKW is goin’ to the sto’ to stock up on Diet Poopsie whilst I go over to the church house and take care of my list of stuff for the funeral on Sattidy. We are probably goin’ to go to the good Mexican place for N.O.L. for today’s major eatage. Plus the usual sloth and general overall uselessness.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack and bother of bothers I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein amongst the great unwashed. It’s just so difficult bein’ me!
Happy Firday Y’all!
Man, y’all are up way too early. As am I. Goin’ back to bed.
We were under t-storm warning last night, but nothing came of it. Lots promised next week.
FCD told me I could take him to breakfast this morning - Oh, MAY I???
So I’m just caffeinating now, hoping he doesn’t sleep in too long because I get headaches if my breakfast is too late. Then again, he does need the sleep.
We’ll be back into the wiring world today. He needs to repair the wire to the tachometer that he snipped. And he ran a second horn button, so that needs to be wired in. And we need to figure out why the galley exhaust blower isn’t blowing, which means we need to track its wires. Unfortunately, all of those things are on the flybridge in the Hot Hole of Sweaty Death and considering the impending temperatures, I expect we’ll be lucky just to get one of those things resolved.
I’m going to set the cat trap before we go - we’re going to drop the tailgate of the truck so the trap is in the shade and sheltered from any possible rain. The truck is parked in a shady area and the cats have been hanging out under it anyway, so it’s as good as any spot. We’ll see how it goes. It’d be great if I could trap all 4 kittens quickly and get them to the rescue folks. Then after we get back from FL, I’ll figure out Momcat if she’s still around. I hate to leave her fertile and on the loose, but the clinic that works with the rescue league has a bit of a wait for appointments so it’s not like I can get her spayed tomorrow if I catch her today. The FL trip is just one more complication.
And so begins another sweaty, humid day in southern Merrylande. Happy Firday!!
Morning all. Pills taken and paper retrieved, so the necessary morning chores are done. Heading for 98F today, so outdoors is not a place I want to be. Supposed to be someone coming over to re-lay the carpet in the closet, but haven’t heard anything yet so I’ll be in the “we’ll see” mode for the morning (if I haven’t heard anything by noon, I’ll call). So swimmin’ may be late today.
FCM, enjoy breaking fast; we have a new restaurant near me called Eggs Up, they do breakfast and lunch, might have to stop in and see how they are. And keep FCD cool, that strikes me as a great combintion for heat exhaustion.
flyboy, nice seeing that otter-like JtC I’ve never seen one in the wild, much less in my back yard.
Ok, onward with the day. All y’all take care.
