How is it possible that there’s a Queen song I’ve never heard?
Is it supposed to suck?

This Queen song makes me sad. It came out right before Freddie passed. Sniff.
Good Lord, he has faaaar too much make-up on. I’m liking the singing though.
So much for Chris trying to do a straight version instead of trying to make it alt-rock. That actually was kind of successful, though.
Bucky did much better than expected, but there was something just wrongbadoff with the backup vocals. Too often they’re overpowering, but where Bucky needed them on the chorus they were too low somehow, there’s not a great lot to do with a 4 note melody there but it didn’t sound monotonous when Queen did it because of the strong choral element. He got rather ripped, IMO.
Ace sucked, just ick.
Kellie does Lita Ford!? She didn’t raise my ire so much as the horrific choppy arrangement, she did well at what she set out to do actually. Every year there are songs that it just hurts to hear get badly butchered and while I’d expect a truncated version of that more than anything else, it still was distractingly gawd-awful. As is her interaction, but I simply mute that to enjoy the show better.
Chris rocked, sure, but meh.
I disagree. I think she actually has no idea what the expression “on paper” means.
Oh, yeah … I forgot to mention – wait, did Paula just say “supersede”? Does she even know what that means? Oh, anyway … ooooh, Chris just smiled. My knees have melted. What was I saying?
That’s how you do it when asked “How do you think you did”, instead of saying “I think I rocked”, “I dunno” is the proper answer.
Ok, so why did Simon say it was indulgent?
I have loved Chris since day 1. The man is gorgeous. I love his eyes and his smile. I’m even liking the extra facial hair tonight.
I almost cried tonight it was so bad! It’s the first time I’ve heard the goat others have talked about. He missed several notes. He did poorly. And I’m over at my parent’s house watching, and they are already prejudiced against him and now like him even less.
Poor poor poor!
Yeah, and it just made me shrug and realize that Chris will hardly ever not do an alt-rock version of something. Every once in a while, sure… but most of the time it’ll be the same, and I’m tired of the alt-rock scene. I listened to enough of it in the late 90s.
“Innuendo” is an odd song choice, and while Chris did a good job, I’m not sure it worked for me.
I’m not very fond of the song. I have said before that I would have liked him to do “Fat Bottomed Girls,” but since dibs had obviously already been called on that one, I wish he would have done a song I at least recognized. Anything. Big ups to him for apparently actually owning a Queen album, though.
I just feel like I’m watching a different show. I don’t think Chris did well at all, and I wanted to like him. I agree it felt more authentic than any of the others so far, but vocally he started really weak and flubbed the lyrics. He has enough confidence to override those problems, but I agree with Simon that he could have picked a song that he could really run with. I dunno, I guess I’m just not on the same wavelength as everyone else this week.
Oo! Katharine is on…
What are they doing with the lights tonight?
She sings very good…
Hmm … not feeling the love for Katharine tonight. This song is very screamy, and I think she looks awfully like Kelly Clarkson. I think she should have done the first song.
Woot. Highlander. Best of the night so far, I think. Good choice for Kat.
I wish I could put my finger on why I don’t like this girl. She so does not move me at all.
You mean Katherine singing “Fat Bottomed Girls”?
