Since the timing of when people aren’t able to spend 24/7 posting in the game has become so key, he may just be trying to ensure any possible unvotes on the chance that time will run out before those votes could be reinstated. I don’t think sturm is going to vindicate him either way.

I suppose he’s desperate, alright. His only possible hopes are timing or keeping the signal to noise ratio low.

If he talks his way out of this, I’ll help the werewolves eat the remaining townspeople.

Interesting unvote by MtS. Is this confirmation that Captain Carrot is not a wolf?

Question: was it ever definitively established, in that thread or in this one, whether a new Alpha Wolf ascends to replace a fallen Alpha?

'Cause if one DOES, and the townies don’t think of it, they could be well and truly in trouble. If MadtheSwine is the new alpha, and sturmhauke probed him last night (heh), he turns up as a vanilla townie, right? Mad seems awfully confident that the Seer’s check will exonerate him, which is possible only if he’s really town - and if that’s the case, then he’s the worst player of all time - or if he’s Alpha Wolf.

Revenant Threshold, can I ask how the announcement would have gone if Ogre had chosen to protect himself?

Specifically, would it have been announced only that the wolves failed to make a kill? Thus leaving the town to guess who had been targeted?

If you would have named Ogre as the intended victim, would you reveal his status? Or would it have been more like “luckily he was under divine protection”?

Just wondering how much info would have been gained in that case.

When Menocchio went down, I asked RT about one of us becoming the new Alpha. He said no, we’d proceed without one. So there isn’t one, is the answer.

There is no new Alpha. What information the Seer gets is now 100% reliable. What the seer chooses to say, or whether a given person claiming to be the seer actually is… Not so much.

I can’t say what wording RT would have used, but he would have only told us that the wolves failed to make a kill. Everyone would know that must mean GA protection, but only the wolves and the GA know who was targeted.

Are the townies risking losing whatever sturmhauke might tell them if the countdown goes off? It seems that, even though MtS is almost going to get lynched, for if anything, being untrustworthy, they ought to hold off until he lets them know who he looked into. Since if he is the Seer (and I think he is), he may get eaten tonight, so he needs to give them one more name off the list. If he investigated MtS he’s not as smart as he’s played so far, so it should be valuable info to have for another day.

If sturmhauke survives, then either he’s a wolf, or the werewolves are playing a crafty game. Can they risk keeping him alive if it means he gets suspected by the town? It might let them hold out just long enough.

Ah, thank you. (Seems like the wolves get all the breaks.)
How about this for a tactic? Starting the second day, someone (a townie of some flavor) posts to suggest that all good townsfolks should start claiming each day to be the seer, post who they investigated the previous night, and what the result was. Like Ann posts, “I’m the seer. I checked on Bob, and he’s a mason.” And Bob could post, “I’m the seer. I checked on Chris, and she’s a wolf.” And so forth.

Now, these posts wouldn’t be of much value at the time – and clearly wolves could make similar ‘openly faked’ posts – but it would provide covering flak for the REAL seer to post what he’s learned.

At some future point when the Seer gets outed, either through deduction or eulogy, THEN you can look back at his posts and know what what he learned.

Wouldn’t this be a way to ensure whatever knowledge the seer learns will be preserved for the future use of the townies WITHOUT opening the seer up to increased risks of exposure?

Boy this is like one of those game shows where they drag things out. Where the heck is sturmhauke.

And I’m running out of popcorn.

Leaps out of his chair spilling the last of the popcorn

All right Sturmhauke!

No kidding…the seer comes through hardcore (if he’s the seer…but I’m not going to hurt my brain too much figuring that out).

I have to save my brainpower for the next game…

Man, if sturmy really is the Seer, he just came through in spades. He really put the screws to the wolves.

'Course, the wolves could leave him alone during the next night phase, which would cast temporary doubt on his veracity.

Hmm, In Sturm’s two big reveal posts he left of Enginerd from the list of people we don’t know. Why is that?

Ahh, this is why

I wondered about a scheme like this myself.

The net effect would be that as reliable information comes in, the ‘accurate Seer list’ would shrink, however to groups with special information, such as masons and werewolves, it would be shrinking faster, as anyone who claims to have investigated one of their number and publishes an inaccurate result would probably eliminate themselves.

Might mean that the werewolves, then, can ID the real seer early, and kill him/her off before the GA knows that they’re the real deal.

And then, there’d be the headache of wondering if the true seer might have published an investigation falsely in order to not draw attention to themselves too soon.

Update - dnoorman has apparently confessed his wolfiness.

Seems like he and MadTheSwine may both be toothy ones, and the last remaining of the clan. (In which case I’m not sure what sense I can make of his jive talking about ‘should we lunch on masons or townies first’ - mad gets lynched, dnoorman lunches sturm, and then dnoorman gets lynched.)

It’s been fun watching… but I’m still not signing up for round two I think… unless I fail my savings throw against the lure of the paranoia and the wit-against-wit action!

Could we get a round-up of who’s in for the next game?
Me, of course…

Revenant will be keeping a list - and I trust I’m on it!
