Howdy Y’all! Home from mowage of the back forty over to the church house. A lot got done yestiddy, YAY!, so was only there for two hours. Now I am all cleanded. Cee-mint pond time may or may not happen. I do, however, foresee nappage cause I’s tahrd.
Happy Natal Day Grayson!
ETA: Sari that is one of the great hymns. Also, bein’ Whiskypalian we never did stuff in Latin but we did do Elizabethan English for a looooooooooong time. So my go to first response is, “And with thy spirit.”
And mention Latin while you are at it. These days when I say “mia culpa” not even the Catholics know what I’m talking about.
In the spirit of being unclear even when sober my answer to your query is ------------ of course!!!
Speaking of which I am working tonight. Want to use one of the bikes but --------- dodging drunks at 11-midnight doesn’t exactly fill me with warm fuzzies. Will ponder for the next several hours.
I believe mea culpa means my fault. As opposed to “The devil made me do it!”
I have booked our cruise - partial transit of the Panama Canal, plus some other stops. The fares were so good, we were able to afford a balcony cabin! WOOHOO!! Nov 25 - Dec 5 - right after Thanksgiving and right before our 35th anniversary. And since our daughter et al will be living here, we won’t need to arrange for a critter sitter!
The bad part is we have to drive to Fort Lauderdale. Ugh. And since it’s right after Thanksgiving, traffic could be a pain. The plan right now is to drive to Ocala on the day before we sail. Our return trip won’t be as bad - middle of the week and all.
I’ve seen it, years ago, before cable. It left such a vivid impression on me that I had to go look it up to remember what it was all about.
You will enjoy it, Baker.
My laptop just came under attack! I had to disconnect it from the wall and pull the battery to shut it down.
Once upon a time I had a laptop, I think it was an otherwise unremarkable Gateway, that had a button on the keyboard that would immediately disconnect it from the internet. i wish I still had a button like that.
I liked the Enigma music! Reminds me of some new age stuff I used to listen to, Kitaro, Brian Eno, et. al.
GMom, how does a partial transit of the Panama canal work? Do they go part of the way in and then back out, (seems unlikely), or go through and then turn around and go back the other way?
**Bumba **- the ship goes thru the locks to Gatun Lake, putts around a while, then goes back out. I’d love to do a full transit, but when you add airfare to or from California, it gets out of our league.
Wetone, is your finger better yet? Why don’t you try pulling a trigger & see how it feels; mebbe use some form of currency as your target. :dubious:
Like any good parrothead, I’m familiar with mea culpa. Tried to go to the local Ren faire since I had appropriate attire; however, the idjit wouldn’t let me into the staff/handicapped parking & I knew I wouldn’t fit into their shuttle vans for the remote/public parking w/ my 5½" x 2" flag & my hand-anna-half; also had sincere doubt as to getting in & out in mail. Not only did they not get my moolah but the crowds would have liked someone like me walking around. Nastygram will be fired off to them.
Thanks GMom, I didn’t know about Gatun Lake before. That’s very cool. I’ve always wanted to visit Panama. Wifey, not so much. Maybe if i tell her about the lake.
Just got back from the greenhouse sale over to the high school. They have a number of horticultural courses and thus greenhouses. We got some maters, a watermelon plant, basil, and some other stuffs. No eggplants though. They didn’t have any this year. Will be clearing out a couple of beds and planting this weekend, probably.
I’m imagining some hyuuge boat with an annoying little beeper and a recorded message going ‘Ship Reversing’, backing up the canal, for several days…
Was glorious sunshine today, so I thought I’d go to the seaside (not far away) for a nice walk along the beach. Got within site of the coast, and a solid fog bank rolls up. Not on the weather forecast. Couldn’t see more than 20m in front of me, and the temperature was not short sleeves and sandal weather. Barely wound up having a 5 minute walk down the pretty coast village centre- couldn’t even see the castle that it’s known for.
Figured oh well, I’ll head home and spend the afternoon at the allotment, and that sneaky fog went and followed me back!
Wound up doing a whole lot of nothin’, it really was not inviting out there. And I lost a gamble doing the washing, and covered everything in these little specks of plastic. Wiped the machine out and ran it through empty, but I reckon I’ll be finding bits for weeks…
My sister and I walked around near my neighbourhood today. And I worked on cleaning my room. Still need to put my stuff back in my room before Roomie gets back - don’t want her to think I trashed the living room.
Coached my youth soccer teams (we lost) and refereed two 12-Under games, the last in a steady and sometimes heavy rain. So of course coming home completely soaked the only logical thing to do was take a bath. Which I did. So now clean and tired.
Nut, I presume something plastic was in a pocket; I’ve run pens through the washer on occasion, which has given me some interesting patterns on my clothes…
FCM, congrats on the cruise and the grand-nephew; both considerable accomplishments. And if you’ve never had a balcony cabin, you are going to love it and it’ll be hard not to get one the next time.
Spidey, why didn’t you just show them your sword?
All right, need to make myself presentable and get something to eat.
**MetalMouse **- when I did the British Isles/Transatlantic cruise with my mom, we had a balcony. It was nice, if cold. **FCD **has only experienced interior cabins, tho, so he’s looking forward to it.
I had to run to the dollar store - *someone *didn’t tell me we were almost out of milk… But supper is simmering - it should be done soon. Which is good - I’s hongree… And I got some Oreos for dessert.
A guy I worked with in the 1980s related a story. He and his young son were in line at the grocery store. An obese woman’s pager went off in front of them. The kid cried, “Look out Dad! She’s backing up!”
sari, while mea culpa is Latin, kyrie eleison is actually Greek.
nut, don’t feel bad. I’ve been known to wash a tube of lipstick in a pants pocket on occasion. The real damage comes in the dryer. :smack:
I got most of the chores done. This evening will be tidying up the scraps from the kid project and finishing up the mother’s day cards for Sis, SIL and my niece.
We did go to the cee-mint pond for a while. The water is still cold but not too bad and it was nice bein’ out there in the sun. We supped and have since been chillin’. All in all things are good.
Worked, visited an old hockey friend, came home. Made Loco Dorito crusted cod ,with lime cilantro rice and green beans with cumin for dinner. Watching hockey(Go Pens? :dubious:)
I don’t think The Holy Father reads my Tweets. If he did read the things I post, I’d expect The Spanish Inquisition.
