We took Roxy to the playground, but it was so hot, and there were no kids even close to her age. Then she started crying and nothing would quiet her.
Daughter thought maybe she was just too hot, so I suggested we stop at McD’s for ice cream - unfortunately, their machine was down. Wendy’s still had the frosty machines up and running, so we went there instead. Between the two, Daughter took off Roxy’s shoes and the crying stopped. She had a cut on her toe and we figured she must have irritated it.
Now she’s playing in her pool. I’ve got the dishwasher running, and I just tossed the carrots in with the pot roast. N.O.T.s will be added in about an hour. It’s smelling nummy!
Tomorrow’s supper will be the sketty sauce I made this morning. So that’s 2 meals I don’t have to fret about.
My Dr office called - I need to have my bloodwork checked again, so I’ve got an appointment for Aug 5. Glad it’s not urgent. Just routine, to be sure my meds are doing what they’re supposed to be doing.
waves at Midget Hope the doc pays attention and stuff gets better!
Had another day playing with plants. My background check paperirk for the job there conveniently arrived just as I was leaving, which saved me a drive later in the week to take it in to HR, as they wanted it ASAP. I was somewhere between impressed and startled at how speedy it was- I only gave the form in to HR (they paid for it and they needed to check ID, so they sent it off) Monday 17th, and the certificate saying I’m not a naughty person (or at least if I am, they don’t know about it), sent from Liverpool, is dated 19th. Obviously they’re bored and I should commit more crimes to give them something to do.
{{{{{MIdget}}}}}}; hope body and soul get to doing better…know that we here care about you.
Sari, sounds like you like ice cream a little more than you dislike the distress it brings.
FCM, sounds like you have a budding scientist in your midst; also one with an owie…
IN St. John New Brunswick, where I got lost 4 times in as many hours. Still saw the neat stuff I wanted to and tomorrow I head back to Halifax seeing sights on the way.
I’m sorry about your aunt and cousin Johnny. For the unitiated, the [del]theatrical performance[/del] ceremony of the mass seems a bit much sometimes. Your Polish priest reminds me of one of our parish priests growing up, Father Dembrowski. To call his English accented was an understatement.
It’s good to see you back emily. I hope you find out what’s wrong and begin the healing process soon.
metal mouse, the company that my father retired from had a plant at St. Johns. I still have a company cookbook with recipes from some of the employees (more likely, their wives) who worked there.
To answer the OP, at home, there’s always something to do: books, work in the studio, binge watch something, chores, alcohol, pet, etc. I can chill somewhere like the dog park, or its parent park and kill time going junking close to home.
Today was another day of getting my butt kicked at irk. I had to correct one of the emergency sales orders that I did Friday, spent two hours doing requested adjustments before my manager had a change of heart and then I spent an hour reversing the whole shebang. The old bat wasn’t there and I have a feeling that she’ll be out all week, given that it’s the heavy one of the month.
Right now, I have a load of clothes in the dryer and am taking part in some dog cuddle therapy.
The biggest part of the clan are Original Ritualists or “Old Believers”. But a few of the more heretical branches of the bloodline went along with Nikon and his heathen new-fangled ideas.
I got a bad tummy. Don’t like bad tummy. But things have been moving forward at work for once, so I don’t wanna call off sick. Got a bunch of meetings today and I have no idea what half of them are about.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and fair (as opposed to unjust?) with a predicted high of 96 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Laundry is on tap for the day. Methinks some quality cee-mint pond time as well. Don’t have anywhere I need to be today and sup shall be leftovers from last night bein’ as neither of us minds leftovers. Provided the washer and/or dryer don’t blow up, should be a good day.
{{{Nava}}} hope you’re feelin’ better. On the bright side, if you still have tummy troubles, you can cut short your presence at any of the meetin’s by threatenin’ to throw up.
ExTank, someone will figure out a nickname I’m sure, sounds like a typical irk day to me. Again, retirement is the best thing ever!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Roxy is doing to me what her mom used to do to me - crying and clinging when being dropped off with the sitter. Let’s turn the guilt trip meter up to 11!!
Some major maintenance was done to our CREO/Windchill server and apparently lots of things are funky now. Like the rework request I got - completely blank. Kinda hard to rework a drawing when you don’t know what the engineer wants. Methinks it’ll be a long day.
But it all pays the same. And in 6 months, I’ll be done. I picked Dec 13 as my last day - that way, my last paycheck will fall this year. I suppose I could create a countdown clock.
Rained overnight so is wet this morning.
70 degrees now, supposed to get up to 88 and be partly cloudy all day.
I could have slept in a bit this morning, so of course I woke up earlier than usual.
I ordered groceries this morning, to be picked up around noon.
I might get some weeding in, and my son needs to go out and whack a few places he missed.
There’s some more trimming that needs to be done.
The dog park probably won’t be much fun, I hope I can convince Ripple that a trip to the store is enough for today.
Stupid neighbors left their car parked in the street despite there being signs that said no parking today.
The water department just knocked on my door to ask if it is my car.
I’m pretty sure it belongs to the people next door, but they didn’t answer, so the car is going to be towed.
I suppose I could have told them to do what everybody else does, walk down between our houses and scream JIMMMMMMMMMMMY at the top of their lungs.
But I didn’t.
But I am very annoyed that I had to answer the door, I haven’t brushed my teeth yet, my hair isn’t combed, not showered, not presentable.
Hubby got bit by a dog yesterday. Saw the Dr. for yet more antibiotics. We just finally got the hand healed up. Verified with the Vet that the dog is current on his shots. Always something.
Tummy is better but I’m feeling somewhat murderous; irk is being very irking. If I do get another job before this project is over I am definitely not gonna be sorry…
I think I’ve finally figured out how to stop our cat from yowling at the crack o’ dawn every day. She usually sleeps with us until around 3 a.m., then vacates the bedroom. At that point, one of us shuts the bedroom door, as she will come back and leap up on the bed just as you’re falling back to sleep. Then, around daybreak, she starts yowling, which wakes us both up. Part of the routine is that she goes and finds her Mousie and brings it to the door, which I would find endearing if it wasn’t accompanied by the yowl.
Well, I finally figured out that bringing Mousie was her telling us that she was hungry. We’ve had her on a strict diet of two cans of food per day, which I’ve portioned out as half a can at morning, noon, dinner and bedtime. Cats, of course, don’t give a damn about hooman schedules, and nine hours or so is too long between meals. So now I give her less during the day and dump a full can in her dish at bedtime. Problem pretty much solved, except when she forgets that the food is there.
Anyway, it’s nice to wake up naturally instead of being jolted out of sleep by Miss Q’itih.
We’re still waiting to hear back from the guys who did the weekend upgrade (HAH!) on our system. Half of us can’t do certain functions, and there doesn’t seem to be any logic to who can do what. At first, they thought it was a Win 7/Win 10 divide, but no. Nor does it have anything to do with who got here first or most recently. And, naturally, the boss is on travel…
I’m just finding things to do that I can do, which is pretty much all I can do. I’ll whine, of course, but I am able to keep busy.
