im a ghost!

Somehow, I don’t think bjOrn is the reincarnation of a vers libre poet. Actually he reminds me of Warty Bliggens, the toad who thinks he’s the center of the universe. Maybe we can feed him to Mehitabel.

Thinkin of ghosts, I’m waiting for the next version; My Mother the Pit Thread.

{{{{ bj0rn! }}}}

Where the hell have you been? Since we last heard from you, Gaudere has gone to heaven, the SDMB was invaded by the LBMB, and Satan has been banned.

As to your OP, I agree with this part:

But I disagree with this:

How are things in Iceland? Are you in the gene testing thing?

Czarcasm, bj0rn can’t use the shift key for reasons alone.

nice eecummings reference, czarcasm

‘hi, my name is archy’

Its not so much that bj0rn attempts to dispell ignorance as he attempts to misspell it.

Aww, lookit bj0rnie! He thinks he’s smart! How cute!

But just keep him off the couch.

Just when you thought it was safe…

I have been on this board way too fucking long.

Esprix

Well, I’m not Fenris, but . . .

For reference, Kabbes said

Ye Gods! And here I was about to make a specific criticism! That would be inappropriate on a board such as this, most obviously.

In that case, bjorn, let me simply say this:

You’re wrong.

I wouldn’t want to get much more specific than that, because that would clearly run contrary to your purposes.

Ah, blast it. This is like opening a pit thread and simply saying “You idiot!” and expecting a) everyone on the board to take your side, b) the idiot in question to know exactly who he or she was and what the post was concerning, and c) to be lauded for your excellent posting ability and your fairness in not mentioning names and hurting anybody’s feelings.

To say that “fighting ignorance is futile” on a board committed to . . . well, let’s think . . . fighting ignorance is confusing at best, especially since you’re referring to the vast amount of ignorance on this board in particular. I’ll admit, not everyone knows everything, but your point still falls a good four iron shot short of making sense.

Erm . . . verb?

And if you intended to answer the question posed in the quote, well . . .

How is this specific? To what are you referring? Are you referring to your own OP? Because it fails to confront more or less any subject, to say nothing of matter of factly.

Ah, heck, let’s say something of matter of factly. Only Kabbes understood your OP, and that, I imagine, after an hour of close study, a hallucinogen, and a moron-to-English dictionary. And, after all the effort, Kabbes then proceeded to make the statement you intended to. What Kabbes did was “confront a subject matter of factly.” What you did was create some serious dents in walls everywhere from vigorous and repeated head-slamming.

First of all, if that was truly your intention, then it was a less than brilliant one. Let’s make a post so broad that nobody understands what I’m implying, and then let’s get mad at people for doing exactly what I’m telling them to do. Astro’s post wasn’t an assumption of understanding, it was a blatant statement of a failure to understand. “Link?” means “What in the name of grapefruits and goat cheese are you talking about?” He didn’t understand. He asked you, in the spirit of free debate and open discussion, to clarify.

I for one–as, I’m sure, did everybody reading with the IQ greater than that of spit–inferred that you were referring to a specific thread when you posted. You were, in fact, as was explained by DDG. Logic suggests that the subject heading has something to do with the subject (gasp), so I presumed the remainder of the post was also in reference to the thread in question. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that the normal rules of intelligent thought don’t apply to you. I’ll try to remember that in the future.

First of all, the definition you gave was of reign as a noun. You used it as a verb. Problem one.

Second, when used as a verb, reign doesn’t work by it self. You don’t reign a kingdom, you reign over a kingdom. Your kingdom, evidently, is not an English speaking one.

Third, even disregarding the earlier errors, even presuming that “reign” was used exactly as you intended it to, you don’t reign over a core. You reign over a country, or a kingdom, or a nation, but not a core. It’s like saying I kicked you with my elbow.

Welcome to English, I hope you’ve enjoyed your stay, now exit to your left and don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

Yeesh.

Mysphyt, my good (wo)man –

I applaud your effort, but trying to use logic with bj0rn and teach him English is like trying to grow a third arm.

Let it go.

Well, only periodically, when you manage to log on again.

It’s good to see your English has improved - somewhat. For those who don’t believe me, do a search for bj0rns posts. You’ll see a steady progress, defying that of the evolution of garden snails.

It’s less heartwarming to see you’re still playing the same stupid games. When are you ever going to contribute anything to these boards, rather than posting dumb riddle style OP’s solely aimed at getting responses to stroke your tender ego?

If anything, it gets more and more boring with time. Sure, a couple of “new” people will fall for it. But soon they’ll too see what your real intentions are.

Just had to drop in and say that has got to be the funniest thing I’ve read in awhile.

I agree with the OP. He is an idiot.

use the soda, dammit! You always get this way when you take your whiskey straight.

I don’t think moderating the Great Debates forum would quite qualify as a “heavenly” experience.

Slight correction (all in the spirit of the SDMB):

ee cummings didn’t write the “archie and mehetable” series… Don Marquis did (funny shit, too!)…

and…there goes the White Russian…all over the keyboard.

jarbaby

OP translated from English to French and back:

Waaaaa?

I like you Bj0rn, but yer a real pandora’s box. ::sniffle::

Y’know . . . Silo’s version was actually a bit easier to understand.

lets get back to the OP shall we…

when i say;
“i dare say that fighting ignorance is a futile task.”
it is in referance to;
“its also comforting to know that ignorance still reigns the very core of the SDMB…”

should be an easy one to figure out…

now to the replies since my last post:
Alphagene: im sorry i didnt leave any room for exceptions in the OP, i should have. your point is true for i left a fault in my argument, please consider it inserted from this moment on.

Replace “is a futile task” with “is almost a futile task”.

kellibelli: just fine, thank you for asking. i hope the same for you?

Libertarian: you disagreed with “names and further details”, i would like to know why…
from what i have experienced people give certain persons credit for tasks previously accomplished, einstein made wrong calcutations once but everybody belived they were correct because it was einstein who made those calculations. that in my opinion is one aspect of ignorance. so i want to avoid mentioning names or anything that might link a person to a given fact for assumption are usually made based on who the person is but not the fact itself.

oh, and those gene thingy stocks are burning up like the mir.

Mysphyt:

thank you for expressing your opinion but i would want to reply to your explanation; “no its not”

i am referring to the first reply to my OP.

i dont know about the OP but he understood my comment on astroboys post.

my english must be getting rusty, i didnt know “link” and “what in the name of grapefruits and goat cheese are you talkin about!” meant the same thing, thank you for clarifying that subject…
i apologize astroboy for not understanding your first post i thought you were asking for a “link” to some text i was referring to in the OP when i specifically mentioned i would not provide any referance to, reasons mentioned in OP.

if you want me to clarify any further what i was talking about please let me know.

sorry about that…hope this helps:
v. intr. reigned, reign·ing, reigns.
To exercise sovereign power.
To hold the title of monarch, but with limited authority.
To be predominant or prevalent: Panic reigned as the fire spread.

you are quite right, ignorance cant reign over a core, it reigns over the “core of the SDMB”

like: “ignorance is reigning is sovereign power over the SDMB”, does that fit?

Coldfire: same old, same old.
its heartwarming that you still think i am playing games, perhaps thats where you fail to understand what i am trying to contribute.

Giraffe: a very smart observation

silo: same to you…from english to french and back:
OP translates the English-French one and of back:

bj0rn - by the power of the shift button

Piss off already.
