I’ve already posted about this in numerous threads since we found out on Friday, but I’ve just been to my doctor, so it feels like time for an official announcement. Also I want more congratulations. 
We’re expecting a baby in mid-January. My doctor thinks end of December, but we’re pretty sure we’re right about the date of conception :eek: 
We’re very happy and terrified. He or she will be our first. The cats display no enthusiasm about the idea of an interloper.

The cats will be curiously distant, but unusually protective until baby starts crawling and crawls after them for the first time.
Then they will run across the room and glare at you with a “Hey! You didn’t tell us this thing was gonna move!” look.

As for the subtopic here, let me tell you, nothing shows exactly where you stand in the order of affection in your child’s eyes quite like the first time you go into her room in the morning, and she gazes up at you from her crib, smiles, and asks “Where’s Boo?”.
But hey, she loves that she can smack that cat as hard as she likes and he loves the attention. I don’t want to speculate how this bodes for the kind of relationships she’ll forge in the future.
Yay, another pregnant Doper! Congratulations! My midwives think that my due date is about a week before I think it is – I am also reasonably certain about the date of conception. 
I was just commenting to my husband last night that the cats have no idea how their life is going to change in the next few months. The baby already likes them, though – he kicks when they sit on my lap/belly and purr.
At least, I hope that means that he likes them!

My niece was just over for dinner with her 4 month old and I have to say…babies are so very cool. You can just sit and watch them for hours…even when they’re doing nothing.
