I don’t think any team will ever again go undefeated, but the latter claim is a mortal lock. Peyton’s only chance will be in the style of Elway…after he’s past his prime and relying on a great team around him. Until then, they just won’t be able to field a quality defense.
Sadly, as a HUGE Tennessee fan and a big fan of Peyton (which is somewhat difficult considering my “hometown team” is the Titans in spite of my Packer-fan self), this is true. Until Dungy brings that defense up to snuff the Colts have nothing. They need nastiness in their linebacking corps, runstuffing DTs and a D-coordinator who can stop the Pats.

And for good measure, fuck Owens. Honestly, if he left the game tomorrow I wouldn’t miss him. There are rare souls who do not belong in the game (I would nominate Romanowski…I’ve always hated his sorry ass) and Owens is one of them. He’s not concerned with the game.
I would posit that he doesn’t even care about winning a championship. Hell, I’ll say that he might not care about winning much at all as long as he is paid more than anyone else. I would love for T.O. to go away so the people who cover the game can get to the nuts and bolts of the institution.
I watched part of the Patriots/Saints game tonight. As the opening quarter came to an end, the announcers patted themselves on the back for not mentioning Terrell Owens for a whole fifteen minutes. Only they did mention him. In those closing seconds.
Fuck T.O. If he disappeared right now it would be a wonderful thing for the game, if maybe not the Eagles (whom I like and feel deserve better).
