I'm Up So Here's The New MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out and rainy(ish) with a predicted high of 85 and partly N.O.S. for the day, or maybe it will rain off and on all day. TWPTB are once again all willy-nilly on this. The big item on today’s agenda is to spiff da cave. Sup shall be leftovers from the big Sunday feast. Outside of all that, sloth shall reign supreme just cause.

So, here it is. Do with it as you all will. Have fun. Use a coaster. Eat your veggies.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

First off, I do know the difference between 12PM and 12AM. Secondly, I did in fact set an alarm for 12:45AM even tho I meant PM. Thirdly, when you’re awakened after just a few hours of sleep, it’s sometimes tough to drop off again. Dammit. Yeah, rough night.

But I’m up and breakfasting, having tended to the critters and loaded/started the dishwasher (which I should have done before bed, but I didn’t.) We’re promised sun much of today with temps near 80, before another cool wave moves in. I have some chores to do at home and some errands to run before wrangling Roxy in her own house for a couple of hours.

Supper will be meatloaf, sides as yet undetermined. I’m hoping to score some local 'maters before the season runs its course. And thus beginneth my day

Happy Moanday!!

I’m up early for no good reason on my day off. Wah!

off to the ophthalmologist for my semi annual Glaucoma check

‘Tis cloudy and cool in no. Illinois. Going to irk, then the gym. On the way home I am buying a steam cleaner device for the ceramic tile floor. It’s sticky despite scrubbing it with vinegar and water. The Grout Doctor will clean and seal the grout. I never imagined dirty grout would be a thing in my life.

Back from sorting, and Gordie has had his walk. I just realized, this year no Karens or 2 months of solid Christmas music at work.

Good morning, y’all. Big temperature drop here-- the high today is only supposed to be 77. Yesterday it went into the low 90s as usual. We may have turned a corner into the best time of year, weather-wise.

I went over to my next door neighbors’ home for dinner on Saturday night. The family (two parents, two grown children) follows strict protocols WRT interacting with the outside world, and I sat a bit apart from them, but we were all maskless. OMG-- just eating a meal and having a conversation with other people gave me such a lift! The first meal I’ve had with other people since February. And the best thing is I really like these people. They’re not just great neighbors (She is the one who took me both times to get cataract surgery), but we have a lot in common and we can get beyond superficial conversation. We are going to keep doing this every couple of weeks or so. This will sustain me. I’ve been languishing from lack of human contact. Getting my hair done every five weeks isn’t enough person-to-person interaction.

Today is Yom Kippur. My synagogue is livestreaming/zooming all day into evening–the holiday ends at sundown. So no toast and coffee with my web surfing this morning. Last night I did some looking around the interwebs and there were Erev (Eve) Yom Kippur services being livestreamed from all over everywhere… usually from empty synagogues with just the officiants and the organist/pianist on the bima (stage–focal point of the sanctuary). Sad and poignant. Some intercut scenes of people reading passages or lighting candles from home. I have to say our synagogue is getting extremely accomplished at video production.

I guess this is a preview of what churches are going to go through at Christmas? We won’t be ready for packed churches and choirs in just three months. :slightly_frowning_face:

Well there is that Dooogioooo.

I am still alive. I came home from Miami on Sat noonish. Had to pick **BuddyBoy ** Before noon as the vet closes at noon on Sat. I am typing on an iPad that is why you will see so many errors that I ain’t bothering to fix.

I am all packed and almost ready to hit the road, drop of the dog and go back to the hotel and horsepistol. I don’t remember what I told y’all last but hubs has endocarditis and they think the source of the infection is those shots he got in his back. He is on massive doses of IV antibiotics and will be until Oct 17th. They will send him home before then and a nurse shall visit daily to infuse him and a PT will also visit. All this if he survives.

It was nice to be home for a day and a half. No one bothered me as they all probably think I am contaminated. I am not. I have been very careful, eating mostly hospital cafeteria food which isn’t the worst I ever had. In fact it was cheap too. If I lived in that hood I would do all my meals there except right now they won’t let one in just to eat.

This time when I packed I dug out some sneakers. I have to walk miles and I don’t give a shit about matching or being stylish. I just want my feet not to ache. Knees and back are enough. Since this week has the first of the month I am going to try to talk my girl through inventory and all that is absolutely necessary for EOM. Insert Eek.

I shall try to be a more faithful Mumper this week.

People with cats don’t need alarm clocks. I tried to sleep through Tango’s cannonballs this morning but Havoc was having none of it. She chivied me out of bed and into the shower. Laved, shaved, and “ready” to teach. New chapter, new lessons, same old stuff. Have to remember to go by Rite-Aid after work for my flu shot.
Predicted highs in the mid to upper 90s all week. Predicted lows are up as well, so back to the leopard print fleece. The grey one is too heavy until it stays near 50 at night.
Hope everyone has a happy and productive and healthy Monday!

Happy Yom Kippur ThelmaLou!

Weird day. My husband sprained his ankle and I’ve been feeling ill, so we’re both laid up in bed rather than working today. We had to cancel everything, including my son’s pediatrician. Fortunately we have the nanny to take care of little bean for most of the day, which means we get to sleep and read in bed. It would be nice if I didn’t feel like crap.

I wish I knew what’s wrong with me. For the past three days I’ve had a headache and mild nausea. I couldn’t even eat much breakfast this morning. I wonder if I should be alerting my supervisor at work and not going into the office for a while.

Mornin’ peeps. Just me and the cat awake so far, with her perched on the arm of my chair (her default morning position). Makes it hard to type, but she’s so sweet that I put up with it, left arm cocked up at an angle to accommodate her.

I neglected to mention that all my wife’s tests came back negative for heart and blockage issues: Holter monitor, carotid scan, MRI, ECG, etc. She has a virtual appointment with her doc to discuss it all, but her dizziness is still bothering her. I continue to believe that it’s the increased BP med and that all the tests were likely unnecessary, but it’s good to know there’s not a more serious issue.

This week’s meal exchange with the neighbor will be a pork ragù made from a pork shoulder I had in the freezer. I was going to make it into carne adovada, but my wife changed my mind. I loves me some adovada, but this will be good.

'Sposed to be 80s all week, with a possible brief return of some smoke, but not nearly as bad as what we had before, so a last gasp of summer for us.

I have cleaned all 4 breakfast bar chairs, except for the cruddy seat cushions, but I can get them later. Kitchen flooring is being delivered as I type this and we’re all set for installation on Thurs. Weds I have to scrub the kitchen floor and move all the small furniture to the guest room. And by Friday afternoon, we can really start putting the house back together.

I foresee a busy weekend.

Shortly, I’ll head out on my erranding before going to daughter’s place for some Roxy time. Try not to miss me!!

{ huggzz } to Butters and all the best for your husband.

My coworker was just telling me yesterday about a friend’s kitten named “Havoc.”

Ugh. Now I’m stuck in this “not really awake, not really well rested” non-mode. It’s rainy, which is lovely nap weather.

The kitties have cabin fever, though. Even my lil’ old lady Nikki is taking potshots at Monkey and wandering around chirruping.
I’m gonna fix a small meal (o.k. ramen and frozen box dinner) and see if that either gets me sleepy enough for a proper nap, or gives me the energy to get … I dunno, something … productive done.

I was in a mood last night though, after work, and apparently did some drunk-cleaning. So there’s clean dishes to put away, at least, and the sink is almost cleared out. Go DrunkPurple thanks!

@Buttercup_Smith my heart hurts for you and all that you and your husband are going through. My husband was hospitalized so many times that the cafeteria ladies thought I was staff. They kept trying to give me employee discounts. (I refused-- bad karma, which we didn’t need any more of.) So I say you gitchyseff a white coat, hang a stethoscope around your neck, and go in there any time you want to. :+1:t3:

My first-ever contribution to an MMP!
I got ready for work early this morning and have a little time to fart around, so I figured why not?

Monday is actually hump day for me, as I work weekends. My days off are Thursday and Friday, so my Wednesday chant is “TGIW!”

Today is going to be unusually warm for coastal SF, so my thermal mug is filled with iced coffee instead of the usual hot, and I have and extra Gatorade in my backpack as well.

Best wishes to you and your hubs, Buttercup. Hope it all ends well for you.

And I hope this post fits in here. I’m not new to the Dope but I’m new to The MMP! Go easy on me.

Welcome, wheelie and I’m glad you wandered in!

Morning all. My brain woke me up at 5:30am and said “up and at’em, Rat, you got up yesterday at this time and were just fine, so let…” At this point my body sucker-punched my brain, rolled over and stayed in bed until 9:15am.

Once up, I went and paid my property tax, did a little shopping, and got my Jersey Mike’s sub sammich, about half of it in front of me still to be assimilated.

77F and humid, rain is expected in a couple of hours, we’ll see what that does to soccer practice.

(from last week’s MMP) OW, so you’ve hit the 3-meal trifecta; if he likes roller coasters you might want to further explore if inappropriate things are, indeed, appropriate at some later date…

Hippie, may the glaucoma become confused on the way to your optho appointment…

Butters, glad for the update, hope the Antibiotics do their job. Don’t worry about posting, you have enough on your mind, we’ll be here for you when you need us.

wheelie, welcome, and your first post was indeed mundane enough to fit right in with the rest of us. Pull up a virtual chair and join in.

shoe, never tried ‘drunk-cleaning’. Heck, I ain’t so hot on sober-cleaning.

cookie, good news on the wife front, you’re probably right on the cause but didn’t hurt to check.

Happy Yom Kipper Thelma; and glad you were able to get out some.

Spicy, sounds like an intestinal bug (yeah, I am Cpt. Obvious), but maybe a day or two off wouldn’t hurt.

quietly, thanks for reminding me, I need to schedule my flu shot this week (I’ll probably forget).

All y’all have a good week now.

I had a variation on the Best Breakfast Sandwich in the World (BBSITW) this morning. Instead of mayo and sriracha, I used leftover Hollandaise from yesterday’s eggs Benny as a condiment. Satisfyingly messy and very tasty.

It’s lovely and cool and sunny outside and my voice is nearly returned to normalcy, which is delightful. I’m now shoveling a salad into my gaping maw while I wait for my next meeting.

As a random aside (or not so random unless you live in my head), we discovered during his well-kid visit Friday that overlyboy has scoliosis. Hopefully not a big deal, but a big enough deal that we need to see a specialist and that there’s been talk of back braces. Given the way 2020 is going we’re going to need group therapy at my house. Though if this is the worst health problem we deal with for the remainder of the year, we’ve won. Jesus - are we done with this year yet?

My stomach is better today, but I have a sore throat that feels like I tried to swallow a golf ball. Of course, my first thought was “COVID, eek!” but I think it’s more likely my chronically cranky sinuses are the root cause of both tummy and throat woes. I have to get to the P.O. today, but I’ll be extra careful. It’s a 2 mile walk each way, but I must pick up the rowing machine.

Can’t recall if I said this already, but since my gym is gone, I decided to get a small, cheap rowing machine from Amazon with what I saved in gym fees. It got shipped USPS. USPS won’t deliver to apartments. Anything that doesn’t fit in one of those big mailboxes stays at the main P.O.: If it does not fit, you must get it. I have no car. They don’t let you bring big parcels on the bus. So I’m hoping it fits in my babushka cart, as it’s 40 pounds, and the walk home is uphill.

Spicy, could it be a sinus infection? I’m trying to figure out the headache lasting that long.

{{{{Butters}}}} Hope you can get off that crazy roller coaster soon. I heartily approve of the sneakers.

Welcome, wheelie! Don’t be a stranger.

Cookie, glad the Mrs. checked out OK.

Thel, SO glad to see you back! I was getting worried about your absence. Glad you got to enjoy real human beings again. May your fast be easy!

hippie, do you have to do the visual field test? I hate that damned test. I know I’m missing some lights, and it makes me nervous, so I blink more and miss more, and then I start clicking wildly. Anyway, I hope the appointment went well, and that you got good news.
