I'm Up So Here's The New MMP

I am so, so sorry. This is devastating. My heart is breaking for you.

Baker (because you MMP name of cupcakes just doesn’t fit this), that is a horrible thing to go through and must have been a profound shock to everyone in the family. Be well and accept these {{{hugs}}}, virtual though they be.

red, some time off them seems to have done wonders, I’m no longer shuffling like Arte Johnson as the dirty old man in Laugh-In (for you youngn’s, Tyrone F. Horneigh Here After | Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In | George Schlatter - YouTube). On the other hand, don’t ask me to go a lot faster than that…

Second load of laundry (blue jeans) is in the dryer, that’s all I’m going to get to tonight. No nappage, so I suspect I’ll be sleeping in tomorrow.

All y’all take care.

Oh Baker, I’m so sorry.

Condolences. :frowning:

Nothing weird

Today I did laundry, made soup, made chocolate chip cookies to thank my friend for helping with the rowing machine, did paperwork, and am about to clean up the kitchen. I’m tired, but I can’t stand waking up to a dirty kitchen, so I’ll get it done.

gotti, please let us know what you find out on Wednesday. I’m hoping the appointment leaves you feeing relieved.

baker, as I said in one of the other threads, I’m so sorry about your sister. She’s given new hope to others who needed the organs and tissue she could no longer use. Bless her and you.

doggio, I was bowing out of the competition, but damn, I love me a harem outfit, so…nah, you got yourself some fine contenders there. I’ll get myself chiffon bloomers and perform at my bedroom window for the entertainment of the complex.

Deal! However, as I am married, I will not be joining the harem. Just hang out.

Haven’t alphabetized my spices since I moved here, not sure I ever did, as I never had a spice rack on the wall. I basically have the baking spices with the baking soda, golden syrup, etc. and have the other spices and dried herbs in the spice drawer.

Alphabetizing is anyway weird. I could use what I call them, or the German name, which is normally first on the jar, then the French and Italian names. Living in Switzerland means learning one other language with a smattering of two others (three, if you include the local dialect).

That too. My Joy of Cooking has pimiento and mentions pimento as an alternative spelling.

Speaking of cookbooks, I managed to rip the cover on my vintage cookbook, which is has a cased-in wiro binding (I just looked that up - I would have called it a spiral-bound book with a hard cover). It seems that a 1982 version of a cookbook is already vintage. My parents used to give a copy of Sunset’s Easy Basics for Good Cooking to anybody getting married or setting up house, so they had set aside a copy for me. And then they started giving everyone a different book, so I have a copy of that as well.

I actually don’t use it much as a cookbook any more. I wrote down all my American to metric conversions for sugar, butter, flour, milk, plus a “recipe” for buttermilk, in the inside cover, so I use it a lot for that.

I found a knock-off recipe for that and think I might try it. But my husband doesn’t like gnocchi or spinach, so I’ll have to make something else for him. I have a knock-off recipe of Olive Garden’s pasta e fagioli which I should consider making next weekend. Hubby can have that and I get to try something new.

Got a list of things to do today, starting with cooking chicken for chicken pot pie. There will be leftovers for the freezer. Lots.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 77 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. I have greeter duty today which means my co-greeter and I get to take temps and say howdy to everybody. Fun! Any need to feed today will be via forage as there’s stuff in da fridge that needs et up along with all kinds of sammich makin’s.

{{{Baker}}} I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. The loss of a sib is tough. You and your family are in my prayers.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I have a cookbook of copies of restaurant favorites, and the few I tried were pretty good. Way back eons ago, I wanted to duplicate Cracker Barrel’s Hashbrown Casserole, and every recipe I found on line used cream of chicken soup. First, I refuse to use cream of anything in any recipe. Second, I know there’s no chicken in the casserole. And the copycat book seems to have nailed it. But I think it came out before the chicken gnocchi soup joined the menu. Still, I’m sure I could find one if I cared enough.

It’s 45° at the moment - glad I closed the house last night. And like nellie, I tidied the kitchen and ran the dishwasher last night. I think today’s main chore will be finishing the bar stools. We bought new, non-scratching feet thingies to replace the old, worn-out feet thingies. FCD said he’d get the new staple gun set up to go, and I need to cut the fabric to size and remember to carry a good pair of scissors to the shop with me. Once that’s done, unpacking will continue.

So, onward into the day! Happy Sunday!!

{{Anyone else who wants one}}

It’s still very wet here today, though the howling gale we’ve had for the last few days has died down. I nipped out to Aldi for bread and a few things (I managed to avoid buying a nailgun and children’s paddling pool from the middle aisle), but I suspect I’ll be hiding inside for the rest of the day.

I should do something productive, and I will vacuum in a bit, but it’s hard to get much motivation up. Making a big pot of something would be a good plan- maybe a curry, because I doubt I’ll be coming home from irk in the next few days with more energy and inclination to cook than I have today.

BTW, I can’t find my copies of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I bought them back in 1970 and I re-read them not too long ago, but for the life of me, I can’t find them! Maybe they’re in one of the boxes yet to be emptied. But I can’t imagine where else they might be. Dammit.

Pretty sure I’ve not got them, I’m reading them on Kindle at the moment, and my paper copies are on the bookshelf.

You’ve got my books?!?!? How did you manage that??? pout

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall vacuum and watch handegg.

The bees have sticky fingers. :honeybee:

Sounds good!

Coming up on oh-seven of the clock. I didn’t want to get out of bed today, but I remembered I wanted to pull pork later and had to get the roast in the oven. So I got up, seasoned the meat, and put it in the oven. Should be done in about eight hours.

Happy Sunday!

Chilly 39 degrees this morning, had to pull out the long underwear, hat, and gloves.
Supposed to be a nice 66 degrees later today.
You’d think with the nice cool weather the dogs would have been active, but they all seemed to just want to hang around with us. The idea is to burn off some energy so we get some peace at home.
We needed for Urban to show up, he always likes to instigate something. He can usually get the whole pack running. Although sometimes he will start digging and the next thing you know the whole pack is over there digging with him. He got them all going yesterday and everybody was covered in mud, except my two. Now that Echo has her adult coat, the mud slides right off of her.

I have much to do today since I have been a sloth lately.
The two cartons of TP are still sitting in the hall, and I still have some other things to unpack and put away.

No need to get me a harem outfit Doggio, I used to be a belly dancer and can bring my own.

I’m sorry about your sister {{{Baker}}}

Guess I’d better get busy around here.

Morning all. Stayed in bed until nearly 9am, just because I could, and will shortly prepare to head out for dinner around 1115 (Texas Roadhouse steak today). Still need to mow the yard and do 1-2 more loads of laundry, but nothing of great import.

65F this morning heading for 75F, so a nice fall day is forecast.

FCM, need to check my shelves to see if my LOTR trilogy is still on the shelves…those bees can be active…

Nut, what would you be doing with a nail gun and a kiddie pool…wait, don’t answer that, I don’t want to know…

All you cooks have fun.

Everyone have a good Sunday now.

{{{baker}}} Losing a sibling is hard. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, Nelson needs a bath with conditioner because he’s scratching himself. I’ve not found any fleas, so I think it’s seasonal allergies and dry skin. He got this way last year around this time. Poor baby.

My LOTR books are on the bookshelf and the videos in the Goodwill donation box because the only thing I have to play them on anymore is my desktop.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Cats being no respecters of the weekend, I was awakened at 6:20am as usual. The dishwasher is loaded and I’m not, which is sad. Off to do some random errands before wasting the rest of the day cleaning house and emptying litter boxes. Somewhere in there I’ll figure out what the menu will be for the week. Just your normal Sunday.

Hope everybody has a safe and happy day!

There’s a lot of bees in there and it’s been too wet to fly lately; I’m sure they’re bored and they find it hard to share a single copy of a book…

Anyway, I said I don’t think I have it. I said nothing whatever about the bees having it, mind…

Metalmouse- does the 'Murrican Aldi have the middle aisle of mystery, where things which make no sense jostle for space? It’s a running joke here that you go in for a bottle of milk and come out with something like a soldering iron and a macramé kit. My favourite was when they got a big range of horse riding gear- in one of the central suburb stores, where few even have space for a large dog and the only horseys belong to the police.
