I'm Up So Here's The New MMP

You know what they say: if you can remember the 70s, you weren’t there.

Are you making meth?

@carnivorousplant

One dose of Sudafed does not meth make.

I’ve had a lifetime of sinus infections, and after much trial and error, I’m sharing a treatment that can give blessed relief.

I really really, I mean REALLY didn’t watch the debate, but Mr VOW had control of the remote.

All I want to say is, Mister President, please STFU. He is incredibly rude with his constant interruptions. I wish Chris Wallace would muzzle him!

If you’re interested, there’s a follow-along thread:

I have it on TV but with the sound off and the captions on.

I always have the captions on, LOL, and with my hearing aid out, that’s the same as turning the sound off.

Trump’s face is getting very red…

~VOW

My vote is already set in stone, so I saw no point in watching. It would only have made me angry.

I watched the debate. And I’m in my Happy Place

And after a nap and the board eating my post:

Up. caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort

Morning, mumpers! I have been absent for a while, haven’t really read this week’s messages either…work has been utterly crazy. We found out last Friday that some of our teaching rooms have not been measured properly so there was a total panic as room capacities changed on several of them. Fortunately our Heads of School and Education between them decided it was prudent to shift all our teaching online for two weeks while we sort ourselves out.

My end of the job is sorting out all the clashes in student timetables, most of the time I quite enjoy it, it’s like a big game where you move things around so they all fit. This year it’s complicated by the fact there are Zoom-campus-Zoom sessions but nowhere on campus that’s quiet for students to do their Zoom classes. And student accommodation is a 15-minute walk away for most of them living in Halls. I’ve got just over 100 emails from people about their issues, and the timetabling system also gives me a regular “problem count”. It was just under 500 at the beginning of last week, by the end of the week it was around 1,000 and yesterday it coasted cheerfully to just over 2,500. Good job I have several strong cups of tea to get me through it.

Welcome to Wheelie, you’ll find very quickly that even the most well-intentioned post gets hijacked almost immediately and will go in all sorts of directions. You’ll get used to it!

(((((Butters and Hubs))))) continued hugs for continued healing…

That’s all I have time for, folks…got work to do! It’s a good thing I’m working from home again, the University gets far more work out of me when I don’t have to waste 3hrs a day commuting.

Me too. Plus by 9 Eastern, I’m usually in bed anyway, since my day starts early. Spousal unit watched - I’ll catch the highlights on the news.

We had quite a bit of rain overnight, but the system has moved on and we might have sun today! Once I decide I’m ready to start, I’ll organize all the stuff we’ve been cramming in the guest room so I can cram more in there. By the end of today, all that should remain in the main part of the house will be my desk, the piano, the loveseat, and the dining room table. Then tomorrow, new floorage begins.

Once all the stuff is moved, I need to give the kitchen floor a good cleaning - sweep/vacuum/mop. And if I have any energy left after that, I’ll cover the bar stool seat cushions. Sheesh, I haven’t even showered and already I’m exhausted!!!

I’ll be on my tablet for the next couple of days - not ideal, especially for FB. For some reason, I don’t get a proper feed on my tablet. But I will probably survive. I hope. Until the weekend, when we undo everything we’ve been doing. Why exactly did I think this was a good idea??

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out (BRRR!) and clear with a predicted high of 76 and N.O.S. for the day. This is a typical Fall day in these parts. However, we may yet still have Early Summer part two for a few days before it’s all over. One never knows. Today we shall lay in provisions. I shall make a trip to the discount grocery sto’ where two liter Poopsi products are on sale for ninety cents. Shrimpies ‘n grits and asparagus shall comprise sup. The Pubic Sto’ has shrimpies at a reasonable price today. YAY!

Miss_Owl debauchery is always allowable, within reason, of course.

MOOOOOOM when we remodeled da cave, I said, “why did we do this!” many times. When it was all done and looked as good as I knew it would, I saw the reason. It will be worth it all. I promise. For reals!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe of woes, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire and go forth unto the sto’. Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

swampy - yeah, I know in the end we’ll be glad to have it done, and it does make more sense to have a one-time mess rather than mess-tidy-mess, etc. It’s just a wee bit overwhelming - especially adding Roxy and our appointment with the lawyer into the mix. But by the end of the week, we can begin approaching normal again. I hope.

I think I mentioned that we moved my desk to the opposite side of the window. I’m somewhat discombobulated - I still look to the left when I want to see outside, but the fireplace is to the left and the window is to the right. It was also weird yesterday when FCD called to me from the hall and the sound came from the “wrong” place! :open_mouth: We humans are such creatures of habit, aren’t we?

Shrimp for supper sounds good. I’ll yank a sack out of the freezer to thaw.

Blurf. ((Anyone what wants one)).

It’s a miserable, grey, rainy day on this side of the pond; the sort of day that’s an excuse to go back to bed with a book and hot chocolate for a few hours, so I started the day by doing just that.

I do need to go out to give the bees some mite medication later, the rain is supposed to clear up in a bit, so it should be OK. I need to strain the wax out of the honey too.

I’ve sent a few job applications, but I’m having a bit of an issue- I can’t find my *~%+# contract, and I can’t remember what my notice period is- I know it was 2 weeks last year, but I have a vague suspicion that it went up to 3 weeks last month. What’s a subtle way to ask my boss, without in any way implying I’m thinking of running for the hills? The job market is so appalling right now that I’m very wary of indicating that I’m planning to leave until I have something lined up, because I’m on a 15-hour contract, so anything over that can be lost without warning, and I certainly wouldn’t get more hours if they knew, but it may well be a while before I find anything…

I think I’ll make a big pot of slow cooker bean chilli later, I just can’t decide if I need to go buy more veg and things first, or if it’s not worth getting rained on.

Anyone have any good green tomato recipes btw?

Fried Green Tomatoes

Slice thickly, half inch or so, and salt well. Let stand a few minutes so the juice can seep out. Season with whatever else you like - paprika, etc. - too.

Dredge in flour, then egg/milk, then coarse yellow cornmeal. Press everything firmly into the tomato sides. Shallow fry on both sides until the cornmeal is brown and crunchy.

Tip: let the flour stand a few minutes before moving onto the milk-egg bath. This lets the gluten set up and gives the coating more strength.

Went to bed ridiculously early last night, so I was up before my alarm. Already fed the kitties and scrambled two eggs for myself. Woot!

Supposed to be rainy. Fine by me - a little water doesn’t bother me, but people feel bad for us running their orders out to their car in bad weather, and tip well. Guilt money is o.k. still pays the bills.

Oh, and one of the managers is on vacation so Big Boss Lady from the executive office is manager-ing today.
This will likely prove to be … interesting.

I’ll save you the trouble: there were no highlights. It was a shitshow from start to finish. :face_vomiting:

Happy Hump Day!

Was a chilly 54 degrees this morning and very wet. We must of had a lot of rain last night, even my deck was soaked. However, the sun is coming out and it’s supposed to get up to the mid 60s today.
The fountain at the park is gone, but the plumbing is sticking out of the ground, so maybe we are getting a new fountain.
I hope it irks better than the old one.

Dogs are a daycare. Echo will get her stitches out, both will get heartworm tests, and Ripple will get his ears checked for an infection.

I have a very busy day planned. Not sure how much of it will get done. I need to do much laundry, and run the dishwasher, maybe even twice as I’ll be cleaning out the fridge. The truck needs cleaning, definitely will be doing the inside. If there is time I’ll take it out to the car wash. Most of my jungle subscribe and save stuff is coming today, so a ton of stuff to put away. I have to look at faucets, and I think buy some pants. I have only 4 pair and that is not enough, or actually should be enough if I do laundry more often. I hate spending money. I can get some sweats for $7-8 a pair from da jungle but they don’t have pockets. I need pockets when I’m at the park. I need to call the mortgage company, they sent me a notice about the new rates and I can refinance through them. I’ve been trying to call them, but I will make sure I get through to them today. I have a check I need to deposit, I’ve had it for over a week. It’s not my money though, I’m sure I’ll have to give it to the state when I pay my taxes next year. It’s a refund on health insurance premiums, but the state pays most of mine and I’m sure they’ll want their money back. I need to talk to the lawn/fence/bathroom guy and decide what we are going to do.
I took the morning off irk and I am dog free for the day, so I should be able to get all of this and more done.

They make 3’x2’ plastic drain plugs.
Sometimes you ankle hurts if you ask it to bear weight. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Up, laved, shaved and “ready” to face the day. Got the monthly bills paid before breakfast and even got a load of laundry started. I think that’s it for the day! (Oops. Forgot about work.) It is sunny, hot and finally decent air quality. The local fire is just about out and they’ve sent most of the firefighters either home or to LA County to fight the Bobcat fire.

Happy Hump Day!

Morning all. Stayed abed until nearly 8am today, so just getting myself started. Nothing on the schedule for today (no soccer practice on Wednesdays), so maybe some house cleaning is in order.

Getting to 76F this afternoon, so almost perfect weather. Might even do some yard work…nah.

Have read all but absorbed little, so everyone take care and NO TOMFOOLERLY–The proprieties at all times. Hold on to your hats. (bonus if you can I.D. the movie that extra line came from)

All y’all have a good hump day.

My son was instructed last night to watch the presidential debate if he could to see a formal debate in action. Bwahahahah. We watched together as a family - overlyhusband, overlyboy and overlygirl - and holy monkeys, it was such a dumpster fire. I’ve never quite understood why these hot messes are considered “debates,” especially now. I’ve always held the position that each candidate should just clearly outline what they intend to do, how it’s great and why they should do it. I’ve never thought of it as having a winner or loser. But yesterday was just mind boggling.

Anyway, up and moving. First two meetings out of the way, lots and lots more today. I did email the school yesterday and asked for information on their standard policies on discipline. My son has had problems with this same teacher before - she frequently posts broken links then becomes upset when overlyboy does the wrong assignment, adds new assignments with backdated due dates, etc. We’ll see what I get regarding the policies and then tackle other complaints.

Work was insane last night and talking to teachers still gives me hives, so more than 16 hours later I’m still coming down. Coffee is probably not the best medicine, but it sure as heck tastes good.
