I'm Up too Early so May as Well Start the MMP

Happy Thorsday!

It’s a muggy, cloudy, 91 degrees outside.
Fence guy and helper are out there irking.
I feel for them.

Cute house fcm, and buddy and nelson are adorable. As is rabbit. I like rabbits, but afraid one wouldn’t last long in this house.

Yes, metalmouse, septic tank will stay where it is. Probably been there for over 100 years, I have no idea when this house got city water and sewage.

Poor echo is probably going to be hurting tonight. She was on the deck when the fence guy brought up some equipment. She got scared and tried to jump through the railing, her hips didn’t fit. He grabbed her and pushed her though.

Realtor is coming around 4. I forgot to take off irk and I am supposed to start at 6. This morning has been a bit chaotic. I start to do something and then forget what I am doing and start something else.

How about this:

Home from the park. We’ve lunched, and Roxy is down for her nap. SIL left for his first job, and he should be back for a bit before he has to go to his other job. I think Daughter has a meeting this afternoon.

All of a sudden, I’m beat! I think I’ll sit and chill for a bit before attacking other chores.

Good luck at the neurologist, Buttercup_Smith! I hope you’re able to get into the MRI soon.

I love seeing everyone’s pups! It helps me live vicariously through the Dope since my husband is pretty violently allergic to most things with fur.

On another note, I just walked into overlygirl’s room to check on her (and make sure she’s working, not surfing) and walked into a giant wall of fart smell. Girl’s freaking gassy as hell. I’m not sure what she’s been eating or how much, but I almost passed out. Anywho, overlyboy is doing well - hates online learning but he seems pretty responsible. So far. I’m trying to back off and let him manage himself entirely, which is tough when the school emails me every single time he gets a grade or sneezes, even in high school.I’m not sure how the kid is supposed to gain responsibility if I’m expected to be breathing down his neck. Oh, well.

More coffee now. I’m starving but probably won’t have time to eat until 2 p.m. thanks to meetings. I started intermittent fasting a couple of months ago, and I’m normally not that hungry even now, but I ran last night so my body has decided that even a deficit of a few hundred calories requires a surplus of millions.

There is and I went there and bought some today.

The guy at the store said you do need to use it every day to build up a level. So I’d say keep giving it to the doggie. My 2 cents.

Thank you for asking for me. So BuddyBoy shall have his treat every day.

You could also look for that brand of treat online (amazon, if they sell it) and read the reviews and readers’ comments. I always find those very helpful.

Thank you, all. <3

(Still not sure how to do everything with this new board format, but only because I haven’t been on here much and I’m out of practice.)

Walked to the medical center this morning to get the ultrasound on my neck. Arrived at 8:30. Got in to the ultrasound 2 hours later. The excellent news is that the tech couldn’t find anything. The bad news is that she seemed…lost. I asked what the mass was, and she said maybe a muscle. I wondered why a muscle would bulge out like that on only one side of my neck. She said, “Maybe it’s a knot.” Can you get a permanent knot in a muscle? Can you get a knot that doesn’t hurt? Got me.

nut, thanks for the fascinating, clear explanation, but…if there’s no new queen, the hive dies? As in the bees all go to bee heaven? :worried:They can’t just form an autonomous collective or an anarcho-syndicalist commune?

Moooom, that’s a sweet little house! Roxy will have a lot of fun running around the deck and ramps.

Man, I haven’t thought about Brunswick stew in years! I always intended to make some but never got around to it. But Swampy, you left me hanging! How do I know what to crave unless you specifically tell me what comprises the breakfast-for-dinner ? Bacon? Snausages? Ham? Scrambled eggs? Fried eggs? Poached eggs? French toast? Waffles? Pancakes?

Good luck with the neurologist, Butters. I hope you and hubs get answers soon.

susan, I’m obviously an idiot. Help me understand the potential tattoo. I get the bees, but I don’t get the dotted-line flight pattern. What am I missing?

Hope today is a serene day, Thel. Let us know how you do with the CBD.

I had a knot similar to that on my neck, but closer to my collarbone. I had an ultrasound and it didn’t show anything. My Pilates instructor has had breast cancer (as I did, too) and she suggested to use a jade roller to do lymph massage in that area. Breast cancer patients can get lymphedema in various places. (Don’t know about other types of cancer.) She gave me a roller for Christmas and I used it every day while watching TV at night. After about a month the lump went away. YMMV. Do some googling on this subject.

Thanks much. I’ll look into it. Does lymph mean a lymph gland? The oncologist ruled out a lymph gland. I’ve never had a knot in a muscle that wasn’t tender to the touch and that didn’t have that tense, knotted feeling. I can move my neck comfortably in all directions. Maybe there’s a type of knot that’s soft and doesn’t affect the muscle???

I did unloads all day. I even got to cheat death. They had too many oversized boxes on the conveyer, so we had to stop, so I stepped to the side to chug some water. The unloader sent a big box down the slide, that managed to bounce sideways, and whack the water bottle, instead of my face.

: human women nod in sympathy :
But what about the waffles? :waffle: :waffle: :waffle: :honeybee:

I’m here every day, and I don’t know.

“Strange insects lying in combs and distributing stingers is no basis for a system of government!” - Dennis the Drone

HAPPY belated BIRTDAY!

They briefly descend into anarchy, as all the workers that can lay eggs (somewhere around 5-15%) of them do so, but they all hatch into drones. As the workers age they get angsty, stop doing normal jobs properly, and they gradually dwindle down to nothing. If you catch it in time, you can give them some eggs from another hive, and they’ll make a new queen. Usually, by this point, they’ve got revolutionary enough that if you buy in a new queen they’ll just kill her (you see them building tiny guillotines and shouting slogans). If it’s left too long, there will be no worker bees young enough to care for larvae- tasks are strictly divided up by age, so they’re just doomed.

Surprisingly, given all this, they’re actually not especially protective of the queen, and she’s certainly not the bee in charge. They actually do act more like a collective. Bees is complicated.

About bee dances (my possible future tattoo):

Mind. Blown. I’m amazed by bees and their ways. In some regards, they remind me of humans, but with incredible abilities that put us to shame.

Doggio, whose birthday did we miss? (Mine is next month, in case anybody’s wondering if there’s a day in late September that should be a national holiday.)

The sky is falling. Much rumbling, though I haven’t noticed any lightning. And we have a tornado watch until 2000. To misquote the late, great Merle, I think I’ll just sit here and read…

nettie’s. But I would happy to celebrate your birth month early.

You’re going to cook your daughter? Stop, please don’t-there are pretty strict rules about that. Call 1-800-OTHER MENU OPTIONS for help before you do something you regret.

Boo
Sorry, sometimes I get like this. It usually passes.

Could be a lipoma perhaps? They can be pretty firm but don’t hurt. I have several, the first one scared me spit less, subsequent ones were ‘meh’.

A physical therapist might be good to consult. They know more than doctors sometimes about muscles and lumps and knots. Over the years I have gotten great help for a wide range of things.

The jade roller may be worth trying-sure is a no possible harm option to try.

Boo

Howdy Y’all! I got shorn, took care of a couple errands since I was out and about and presentable, got the meats cooked and ground/shredded (I like a combo of both), had some quality cee-mint pond time, and we have made and et the breakin’ of fast for sup. We had pancakes, link snausages, and scrambled aigs. YUM!

I don’t do beans in Brunswick stew. That’s just wrong. I’m doin’ this version cause we couldn’t get the stew we usually get every year from this church in the large and in charge community of Center Point. They decided to forgo makin’ it this year due to the mean ol’ virus. When they do make it, the news is strictly by word of mouth. We are privileged and get the word. We’re special. When they do it, it’s an all night task, as it’s cooked outdoors over a fire in very large cast iron kettles. There version includes a hogshead. I will leave it to the curious to look up hogshead. 'Tis not for the feint of heart or possibly weak of tummy. You have been warned. It does, however, add a numminess my stew will lack, alas. Needless to say my version will be cooked indoors. It will slow simmer for several hours.

Nuts the bee waffle was innerestin’. Thanks! I remember a colony of bees in a tree stump at my uncle’s farm. The tree stump was way away from the house and the bees were left to do their thang. My uncle would get honey, however. I would not go anywhere near there.

Okay! I finally got a few doggy pictures from my phone to this (Wifey’s) computer and managed to upload them to Imgur (I think). Sorry. I’m fresh out of elephants and emus. Now I shall try to show them to you.

This is Vinnie:

And this is Gibbs:

Vinnie is supposed to be a Mini Schnauzer, but he’s way too big.
Gibbs is, according to Wifey’s sister, whom we got him from, 3/4 Yorkie and 1/4 Chinese Crested.
Consider this an experiment.
BTW, you see that little icon that looks like a log with an arrow sticking out of it pointing up when you’re posting? It may fool you into thinking you can insert a pic into your post directly from your 'puter. It’ll even show up in your preview pane and everything. Well, when you go to post you’ll get a message that you can’t do that! le sigh.

Thel, I had to look up jade roller to see what they are. I can see that being useful for some applications. Does it have to be jade? I don’t have any objection to things being made out of purty materials, in fact I prefer it, but I was just wondering if there was a specific reason.

:orange_heart:Belated Happy Birthday, Nettie! :blue_heart:

No big plans for today. Gonna figure out a place in the back to stick all the firewood in the basement, and put it there. That should be enough for one day.

Wifey should be back tonight. Yay! I miss her. She stopped at Costco yesterday, so we shall have more TP, (and other stuffs), Swampy will approve.

Geez, it’s smokey outside. We’re getting some smoke from wildfires here I think. :smokey bear: The weatherperson’s maps aren’t as specific/detailed as they need to be to tell exactly were the smoke is going. Grrr.
