Imagine a world with no MMP!

The horror! The horror!! What would we do??

Happy Moanday anyway!

First!
I was just about to start the MMP. It would have involved a dog. So far she’s pretty good, but will need to go in the crate while I’m in the shower.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 19c/66f with a predicted high of 21c/69f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Sometimes, stratus clouds are known as high fog. I fucking knew it! Fucking dope smokers!” I can’t see any stratus clouds out there specifically, it’s just a grey blanket.

I would not like to imagine a world without the MMP, how would i know when to do the laundry and put the bin out?

Morning all. Back still aches when I’m in bed, but managed to stay in till near 7am, so should be good to go. Soccer practice starts in earnest today (first local games are Saturday) so will be out there at least 4 nights this week. Not much else on the agenda this week, do need to drop dry cleaning off and pay the credit card bill, but anything else will develop as it comes to hand.

I’d rather not be in a world without the MMP, I’m not particularly good at making friends in-person, but you folks here…you have no idea how special I think you are.

Supposed to reach 98F today, so glad I did get the grass cut last night.

And enough with the emotional stuff, let’s get back to MMP’ing…

Or she’d jump in with you?

:scream:  And that is why I love this place.

Have a good week all.

Morning, all. Spent the weekend without AC again. I’m going to talk to the maintenance guy and see if he’ll show me how to reboot the system when there is a problem on the weekend. Management won’t call him in on weekends/holidays because they don’t want to spend the money. I’ve talked to him in the past and he knows my background, so hopefully he’ll agree to this. At least it wasn’t sweltering this weekend, but summer isn’t quite over yet.

Overcast this morning, with some rain on the way. Gonna hover around 80F all week. Niece visit tomorrow and possibly on the weekend.

Ordered more bagels. If anyone is missing the bagels of their yoot, or just wants a real treat, try New Yorker Bagels. These are the real deal from NYC. $32/dozen with free two-day shipping. This will be my third order and I have zero complaints.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! I am up, caffeinated, fed, and purtified. I should be exhausted after all that effort. ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 90 and mostly sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is men’s steak night over to the church house. We will go over early, as is our wont, to do setup and prep. Until then we shall indulge in RDOS inactivities.

I can’t imagine a world without the MMP. Beyond trash reports and laundry, how could I survive without knowin’ what’s for dinner, mowage reports, trips to the sto’, pet antics, the various cocktails consumed and many more things that make up our daily lives! The very idea of not knowin’ is inconceivable! The very notion makes me want to clutch pearls and fall upon the faintin’ sofa. :couch_and_lamp:

ETA: Cookie sounds like it’s time for the residents peasants to storm the Bastille!

ETA Again: red glad Nelson and you made it to Houston safe and sound.

Welcome home, Red!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 60°F, dark and cloudy. It’ll be cloudy to mostly cloudy today, with an expected daytime high of around 77°F.

Red, so glad you made it to Houston safely.

VanGo, hopefully, things will settle down enough so that you can trust Lil Miss Peach on her own.

I spent some time working in the yard yesterday, and that was about the extent of the work. Other than that, I hung out with my son or puttered around the house. His stomach was bothering him a bit, so we just stayed here instead of going out and doing anything.

My son stayed the night again, but I’m not sure how long he’ll be here today because he hasn’t decided if he’ll take the whole day or a half day off.

Today will probably consist of more puttering and maybe an errand or two. I hope you all have a great day.

So I’m just sitting here watching the tanks go to the capital. I doubt I’ll get the MMP in jail, so I’d best enjoy it now.

She’ll get the rules figured out soon enough I’m sure.

Is she house-trained already, or are you working on that as well?

You and all of your neighbors are paying enough rent that proper climate control for old farts should be a priority. I do hope the maintenance guy will show you what to do next time. Be sure to bill management at your independent contractor rate.

Welcome Home Red! I hope your new place works out and is a real home soon.

Tell him to take the whole day off, he needs to let his stomach recover before putting under work stress again.

So not much planned here. I’ve put out full hummer feeders and watered everything that looked dry. I’ll probably lose my posies if I’m gone for any amount of time, but my lemon should be OK until winter.

I’ve got a few errands to do and I want to mail out a package, then I’ll change clothes and follow the tanks.

I beat Roxy in two games of Chutes and Ladders - GO ME!!!

It’s in the 70s and overcast, so swimming isn’t going to happen. But I found out there’s a railway museum in Chesapeake Beach, so we’re heading there after lunch. There’s also a boardwalk in North Beach, which is pretty much a continuation of Chesapeake Beach, so we’ll go there too. I’m hoping timing works out so we can get Tobias about 4:30.

I thought we were supposed to get the replacement battery for the garage door opener today - nope NEXT Moanday. Dammit. That’s a full week of beeeep beeeep beeeeep. I wonder if the beeping will stop if we disconnect the stoopit battery.

We had a good shower/downpour last night and chance of another today. But temps will stay below average, so huzzah for that.

First lap blanket is done. I’ll try to get a start on the second one while Roxy draws in an old notebook. I tried to teach her to crochet, but she’s not ready yet. Maybe another year or two.

Mornin’ all - About 0745 as I start driveling. I’m just up, having slept through sunrise, so no balconatin’. But the caffinatin’ is goin’ well. Bright and sunny out there with a few puffies. NWS sez presently 80/27 on the way to 95/35. The beach is mostly deserted this early, and the sea is calm. Last few days have been the same; plus afternoon or evening showers on somebody for a few minutes.

As to me in the last week-ish: Had a nice low rent rendezvous on Wed w GF. Saw this excellent performer on Sat YouTube - Jessy J, and got a minor league baseball game in there someplace. Plus some beaching and too much time alone.

Today’s plan: Expecting to have late breakfast in a couple hours w former housemate. Might go to pro baseball tonight; the St. Louis Cardinals are in town Mon-Wed & I’d like to see them once. Otherwise sloth and RDOS shalt rule the day.

GF’s Mom is moved into the independent living place. The divorce process proceeds apace. By this upcoming weekend the last of his & her stuff will be out of each other’s residences. Whew! The discovery phase of fighting over the money are mostly over, and the actual fighting begins in earnest in Oct. Ugh!

BB’s Mom is now entering end stage kidney disease and is foregoing treatment. She’s not quite needing dialysis yet, but it won’t be long. Whether she’ll do that or hospice out then is TBD. But her lease on life is about to run out. BB is sad, but determined to make Mom’s last month(s) as fun and pleasant as possible.

As to y’all, despite not posting after IIRC Tuesday, I did read all of last week in dribs and drabs on my phone.

First off Hooray to @missred for arriving safe and finding the apartment to her liking. The new chapter begins in earnest!

Dear Shoe, I’m sorry you’re dealing with his impending deathaversary again. And, inevitably, the various miserable milestones in the month-ish that led up to the final day. Biggest of {{{{hugs}}}} to you :people_hugging:.

@susan, sounds like replacing the HWH was the smart move. But bravo for all the homeowner learning you got along the way. Most modern dishwashers are plumbed only into the cold water and make their own hot. So the dishwasher ought not be affecting any showering. Clothes washers however can be real hot water hogs.

[Former housemate called, wants to get together much earlier than planned. Interrupted from ~0830 - ~1030 and now resuming]

@The_Stainless_Steel_Rat: Sorry about your fall; good news is it seems nothing is too badly tweaked. My shoulder is still very slightly weird from the infamous 2am Chaise Lounge Incident, but is almost back to normal.

@Sticks_and_Scones: Sounds like you survived week 1 of the job without disaster. It only gets easier from here. Hooray!! Shame about the jury duty, but IME you get ~ 2x more summonses than times you actually have to come in, and of times you have to come in, rather few turn into a case. Good luck for the easy way out.

@Taters I’m in awe of all the crap stuff you’re getting done.

@Chefguy: Yeah, time to storm the offices. HVAC is not optional for elderly folks. You might remind them that the lawsuit if somebody expires of the heat on Saturday night because they were too cheap to … will be very expensive. And very well-publicized. That cheap-ass reputation will destroy their ability to attract new customers into their deathtrap.

Everyone else: Yaays, booos, sympathy as appropriate.

General commentary:
Mundanities of laundry. Ever since I started wearing white uniform shirts to work 35+ years ago I’ve always separated out whites from everything else. Back then each workday generated a white outer shirt, white undershirt, and white knee-high basketball sox. These days I don’t have that anymore, but I do have a lot of tropically appropriate white clothes. Such that even now my laundry segregation is whites, bath towels, sheets, beach towels, and [all other clothing]. So baseline 5 loads per week.

If I happen to have worn a bunch of red / maroon in one week, I may do those as a separate mini-load; but one red item in a large load of blues, blacks, tans, and grays I don’t worry about. I try to dress brighter than most guys, but the color palette for men’s clothing is kinda bleh. It does make laundry easy though.

I do wash brand new clothes once segregated by color to try to extract any loose dye harmlessly. Seems to work well; I haven’t had a bleeding color disaster in a long time.

Amount of clothing: I was a bit surprised at how many of you seem to own very little. I’ve always tried to stock a week’s worth of everything, and now I’ve become quite the clothes horse. I’d be embarrassed to share quite how much stuff I’ve got, and most of it since I separated from HL ~18 months (:jumping_for_joy_smily: ) ago. Sometimes my “retail therapy” gene meets my “collect the whole set” gene in unfortunate ways. It does seem to impress the ladies though.

A world with no MMP: It’d be weird for sure. I’d have an extra hour or more each day with nothing to do with it. And I’d be lost without the laundry & pet reports. Not to mention the saga of the bins; always with the bins.

Seriously, as Metalmouse put it so well, it’s great to have some caring sweet people to commiserate with every day about any/everything.

Time to throw this on the wire and commence to serious RDOSin’.

Cheers all!

The Navy did that when we were issued uniforms in boot camp – after we stencilled our names and SSNs on everything, we donned one set of dungarees and all other shirts, trousers and skivvies were sent to the laundry. As one of my CCs explained it, clothing is cleaned by washing it; if those items hadn’t been washed yet they were obviously dirty and in need of washing.

Going back to last week’s MMP, I do remember the dream I was in the middle of when I woke up. I was in a supermarket, pushing a shopping cart past all the registers (which I was on the wrong side of), and spotted one of the asst managers from my last job, standing at one of the registers – dressed as Santa (less the beard). I went past her, then stopped to chat with one of the other cashiers. While we were talking, she came up to me (still wearing the bright red Santa suit and wanted to know why I hadn’t been in to work at 1130. I looked at my wristwatch and it said the time was around 1400. I told her it was my day off; she whipped out a schedule (on a clipboard), showed me that it had my name on it, and “reminded” me that the store manager had said that anybody who didn’t come in to work would be fired. then I woke up. Note that a) my last job was at a department store, not a supermarket, and b) I haven’t worn a wristwatch since around 1994.

1120 already? I didn’t wake up until around ten? Oh, well – I’m caffeinated and fed, so on to a couple of phone calls before resuming my RDOS duties.

Hello, MMPeople! If there were no more MMP, somebody would probably set it up on Tuesday. We’d call each other Tumpers, I guess. Life goes on, as the old song says. Here in Elkhart, it’s 73F, climbing later to a balmy 85F. The weather-folk say it’ll be cloudy, but probably won’t rain.

Moom, I reckon Roxy will become crochety on her own, as we did. Seriously, though, good for you, teaching the young dog old tricks.

Maybe I’ll go for a walk today, while it’s still bearable outdoors.

Looks like they had to bring in an outside contractor, so not a simple fix. Anyway, it’s up and running (for now).

Had some old biddy baiting me in the elevator this morning for no good reason. I didn’t respond, but it’s generally a bad idea to annoy me for no reason. I’m not liking how this week is starting off.

Okay, a positive thing. Sadie having a nap. . .next to her $50 cat bed.

Good news they’ve done that. Bad news for what that implies about the age and health of the overall system.

Sadie is very cute.

ROFL!! That is so cat!!

Hope the AC debacle is solved soon.

< waves and hugs all around! >

So more of the chaos trying to clean up Saturday’s mess. I stopped at Aldi for the things on my list, and Total Wine for some sweet Vermouth, and some Trophy Pub Ale.

Go back to sitting in the park muttering about binmen, The Invisible Mole People and Vergers I guess.

Spot prefers his Squishmallow

It was probably not the best system to choose 30 years ago, and even less so today. I’m not an HVAC guy, although I have a nodding acquaintance with it. The newest iteration of the maintenance super is miles above the previous renditions and has spent a lot of time dealing with system leaks (some apartments have had serious damage to personal goods). I think he may finally be getting on top of it, and has also hired an assistant, which will take the minor day-to-day stuff off his plate.

lager will sniff the various cat beds then nap on the floor or a small area i leave open for him on a shelf unit.
