(Old) Imagine a world with no MMP!

All good news, and I hope it frees her up much more.

Thanks! The HWH is (not replaced yet–waiting for a call) a 2006 model. Two plumbers have now laughed at it, especially the weird, outmoded pilot light. Our dishwasher was recalled in 2011, but it’s worked okay since we bought the house. It’ll be replaced if we ever save up enough again to redo the island. Except for specific items, we wash everything in cold water.

@Chefguy, have you spoken to anyone at the state senior services offices? I wonder if any of the system failures have crossed the legal threshold to senior neglect or abuse.

On Thursday, Thumpers.

My repairs from last night (lock surround for cabinet, faucet grout) seem to be holding. I’ll defer fixing the cracks in the tubs until after our guests depart. Today’s and tomorrow’s tasks number 31, most to be jobbed out to one of us, so call it 16 for me.

Breakfast was coffee, a banana, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a few Trader Joe’s thin lemon cookies. Kind of queasy this morning. A propos of which, I have 13 more tamoxifen pills, then I’ll be done with 10 years of post-cancer hormone treatment. I hope this reduces my ambient dizziness and nausea.

All right, off to the anti-sloth mines.

It’s noon Monday, and the tsunami siren is going off.

Vegemite toasties for breakfast. I made menudo sin maiz for lunch. I don’t have any cilantro or onion, though. It’s too hot to eat, so I’m letting it cool off a little bit.

Watching the obvious on CNN, and the reality TV star is pissing me off.

Sasquatch

Pest Control

is supposed to come over today.

Today hasn’t been nearly as busy as I anticipated, so I actually have time to Mump in the new MMP before there are 100+ posts! Woot! Even better, I think I’ll actually be able to leave the office after only 8 hours: I need to stop on the way home to put gas in the car, but the Shell station is right before the interstate entrance and I should still walk through my front door before 5:30pm. :crossed_fingers:

I also do not want to imagine a world with no MMP. Sometimes when I haven’t been able to post for a few days I think, “eh, maybe it’s time to quietly exit the conversation,” but I always come back. I can’t quit y’all.

Nothing exciting happened yesterday; it was kind of a perfect Sunday. I spent some time in the afternoon sorting my extra Lego pieces, but otherwise I slothed and watched a lot of TV and played three New York Times games (Connections, Strands, and The Spelling Bee) on my iPad. I even took a short nap in the afternoon…I hardly ever nap!

HA!

Um…yikes? Any update/news?

For some reason, I’m a fan of the HBO docuseries In The Eye of the Storm: first-hand accounts and cell phone videos from major hurricanes, tornados, etc. I can’t tell you how many times I yell “GET AWAY FROM THE WINDOW!” while watching it. Not the same thing as gunfire, but I’m always amazed by the human compulsion to go look/see even when it’s dangerous to do so.

Nah, not the same thing; a “hand wash” setting would be much gentler.

Yay! :tada:

LOL! :joy:

:waving_hand: !

It must be so nice to have that in your sights! When WifeBFF was able to hit that milestone (for the second time in her life) four years ago, we actually had a little celebration.

Sasquatch came by, disposed of the mole corpse, reset the trap in the same hole, moved the other two traps to newer mounds, and stomped down the un-trapped hills. I went to chat with the guy, and in the five minutes it took, my menudo went cold. But I was almost done with it anyway.

Nope. I could have been mistaken, but it sure sounded like gunfire. Never heard any sirens, so it wasn’t reported, I guess.

But if anyone reconstitutes the group on Friday and names themselves The Frumpers, I’m outta here. Y’all can be as frumpy as y’all want.

Not I. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Happy Moanday everyone! It’s been busy so I haven’t been able to reply for a while, but I’ve tried to at least keep up with things. I took today off work (I’m trying awfully hard to practice being an RDOS before it’s my turn!) so taking advantage of the opportunity to pop in and say hi.

I dropped my car off to get the tires rotated and balanced and had lunch with my mom while waiting for it to be ready. It ended up being rather annoyed at the tech. First he called to inform me that I don’t have a spare tire and would I like to purchase one? I told him no as there’s no where to put a spare other than sitting it in the cargo space. He pushed back and said I really ought to have a spare and I told him that’s why I bought run flat tires (and is what came stock on the vehicle when new). So when I go to pick the vehicle back up, he informs me that I don’t actually have run flat tires and really should reconsider buying a spare (). I told him I wanted a refund on my tires then because I specifically bought - and paid extra for! - run flat tires. Well that sends him scurrying to the computer “just to double-check” and whaddya know, they actually are run flat tires. So annoying.

shoe I’m so sorry it’s coming up on another anniversary :people_hugging:

VanGo congrats on the new dog!! She looks just adorable with a face that you’ll never be able to get mad at, new puppy shenanigans and all.

Red and Nelson, yay for making it to your new home!

lily great news on almost being done with treatment, that’s a big milestone

Thanks for that, make me laugh out loud. Sadie is 110% cat and you are done gotten. The lovely thing is we all get to enjoy it too!

We’re still working on that. Hence the comment about cage while I’m in the shower. That seems to be prime poop opportunity. Fortunately, it’s all been on the same crappy (heh) carpet that I want to replace anyway.

I saw Brian, the stray cat, for the first time in months yesterday. He was patrolling my front yard. Peach seems to think someone interesting is hanging out under the back porch…maybe it’s Brian? If so, I hope they get along. She’s pretty chill with other dogs so far. Had a nice trip to the dog park yesterday and made some new friends.

You go, girl! **:crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3: here’s hoping the queasies get their eviction notice tout suite!

Next month will be my 10th cancer free year. I had it easy, DaVinci robotic surgery followed by careful surveillance. So far, so good.

I think you already established earlier today about your decidedly non-frumpy snazzy bachelor on the move wardrobe. Your non-frumpy bonafides are rock solid.

Me, on the other hand? I’m frumpy on top of frumpy. Years of wearing scrubs I suppose. I last wore high heels in 1973, also the year mascara died. All except my coffee mugs, I’m a regular snob about those, even though now only the cat ever sees them.

Quick afternoon update. Shopping and sammich got done and dry cleaning is due for pickup on Firday. Grass clippings were picked up and exercising has been exercised and a couple more soccer problems solved. Will stop by the fields in a little bit to put up a sign (one of the fields hosts multiple U6/U7?U8 teams and I want them to know which is which). The red-haired girl will provide the evening repast.

Got a bunch of mail to look through then off to the fields.

More conversation later.

About an hour ago I thought I heard one of the cats eating kibble. Then I remembered that I’d put a package of salmon pinwheels on the dishwasher to thaw. Goo was up there, trying to get through the plastic to the fish. I was quick enough to stop her.

If any of you feel inclined to check out the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum, don’t bother. It takes longer to read their website than to see the entire 3 rooms of the museum. There’s a rail car out back, but it’s locked up tight. And the museum focused on the beaches and swimwear of the early 1900s - not entirely sure what it had to do with the railway. So essentially, a waste of gas.

We went home by way of the Marine Museum, which Roxy has visited at least a dozen times. But it killed a chunk of time before we had to go get Tobias. He’s all excited about his day with me on Thursday - I need to plan something.

Meanwhile, I fixed FCD some red beans and rice - I made the rice, the rest was in the freezer. So he has a happy tummy. I had assorted miscellaneous for supper - not satisfying, but edible. All in all, a nothing day.

The little girl doggo did a nice job in her crate today. I came home at lunch, so we avoided any accidents. She’s currently destroying a Bark Box squeaky hat thing.

Run flats have a distinctive 1/2" uppercase R in a ~3/4" circle embossed on the sidewall along w the rest of the mumbo jumbo. Easy for you to check if you’re not quite trusting the nice guys there at Tire Bozos.

I’m a big fan of run flats for many kinds of vehicles.

All dogs wanna be Very Good Dogs, I’m sure the crate will be a thing of the past soon.

I heard what sounded like crinkle paper being chewed and yelled at the poor innocent fuzzbutts because Hubs was unfolding one of those thin paper many folded instruction things. I apologized, they went back to sleep.

IMHO, when it comes to cats, it is always better to react first.

I’m mostly frumpy nowadays. While I do have plenty of bling, I really don’t care that much to attract attention anymore.

Frump is comfy and that’s top of my list when choosing what to wear for the afternoon or whatever.

I agree with everyone else, Sadie is such a cat!

I HATE commission based auto repair and maintenance. It encourages theft because most folks don’t really understand cars anymore.

Congratulations! This is big enough to get the whole word, I’m really happy for you.

Encore!

You, too!

Congratulations!

Up from naptime. Having an Old Fashioned, cheeseburger, and homemade fries. I Furminated spot earlier, and now I have 3 cats worth of hair.

< crosses fingers >

Deploy them around the anti-tank mine for maximum effectiveness.

You can check out any time, but you can never leave.

< Charlie Brown likes this post >

Congrats!

Evening all. Did put the sign up, how long it will last is anyone’s guess, but hope it helps some folks. Then walked about the fields as I am the Safety Director and since it was still 95F outside I wanted to make sure the coaches were taking care of the kids (water breaks, nothing to strenuous) and they were…meanwhile the dummy Safety Director was walking about a mile around the fields without bringing a bottle of water along… Home now and nothing but sloth for the next few hours.

And now going back near the start and working my way though your commentary…

Cookie, the management is being ridiculous here, they will get in trouble for it and it couldn’t happen to better folks. Hope you can pick up the skills-and I see he’s getting an assistant, so never mind. And Sadie is a cat; you expected different?

swampy. hope your group is still solving the world’s problems, because there is bugger-all chance of the folks in charge now doing it…

Taters, hope the puttering was successful.

FCM, sorry the railway museum was a dud, there is an excellent one in Illinois, but that’s probably a little too far for a day trip…

Pilot, used to go to old Busch Stadium and sit in the right field bleachers (our favorite chant: Left Field SUCKS!) to watch the Cards. Haven’t been to a Major League game in over 10 years, need to try for it one of these days.. The back feels fine most of the time and I can pick stuff up without discomfort, but when I sleep it locks up and if I cough with my back against the chair it hurts like the dickens. But slowly getting better.

Herald, nice odd dream there, wish I could remember mine.

Knots, And if we started it on Sunday, we’d be Sumpters. so either meeting at a Fort in Charleston harbor or pumping stuff out…come to think of it, that’s not a bad description…

<waves back to Bright Tree>

lily, glad the treatment is coming to an end. Stay well!

Flyboy, hope the Mole War remains successful. And good catch on the Goo raid.

52! Good to see you around these parts again. And bravo for knowing your car and your rights and stopping an obvious upsale in it’s tracks.

And time to watch some pre-season tackleball and do some household stuff. Take care all.
