(Old) Imagine a world with no MMP!

Howdy Y’all! Been back from steak night for a while but needed some chillax time. We are watchin’ the UK version of Shameless on Britbox. Some similarities to the US version, but enough differences so far to make it feel like a different show. We really liked the US version and this feels like we will really like it as well. We’re also watchin’ Sandman on Netflix so we are highly entertained right now. I feel beddy bye time comin’ on soon. OYKW has already turned in. We are such grumpy old men and geezers!

You’ve made the decision. That’s the big move; all else is trivia.

Yowza. Late wife abandoned tamoxifen at ~3 years due to side effects. There are far more capable and tolerable estrogen blockers available now vs 30 (her) or 10 (you) years ago.

Congrats on being done w this treatment plan, but DM me if you wanna talk modern BC treatments.

Best luck and brotherly {{{hugs}}} for your ongoing health

And yet… I shared my cheese dinner with her. (I’m thinking fish tomorrow.)

I love doggos who like to play.

Met the apartment manager today and may have a small gig making the complex bulletin board. I also got set up with health insurance in Texas. Tomorrow, after a trip to Lowe’s for bathroom stuff, I’ll change the sim card in my phone and test it before canceling my current service. Supper is on now..

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Your comment about Trash Pandas a few days ago came to mind yesterday while I was watching the Savannah (GA) Bananas (sic) play some other bozos. Bright yellow uniforms, bright yellow human-sized banana mascot, etc.

I’ve never been to a baseball game.

Thanks. The side effects have been pretty intrusive. I appreciate you offer as well.

Late Night Final here. Got my laundry from Sunday put away and watched some tackleball and that’s the sum of my evening (also had a Little Debbie snack apple pie). Off to bed soon and see if my back will cooperate better tonight.

red, sounds like a promising start.

flyboy, how have you managed to do (or in this case not do) that?

And it’s after 10pm and I’m out. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Thank you one and all.

I’ve never been to a football game either. I have been to a basketball game and a hockey game (I think, back in the ‘90s).

Mr. Rilch has quite a few red, orange and bright blue shirts. I separate laundry into “dark” and “bright”. We have very few items of clothing that are plain white.

Last week, there was some discussion of LoveSac. I have one of those! One of the really big ones is in our living room. It’s fantastic to sleep in; it practically swallows me up. I feel like Sally Brown at beanbag camp. (Scroll down to June 8.)

Okay, so school starts Thursday. Izzy has had quite a weekend with us. On Friday, we gave her the Pittsburgh experience. First a ride on the Gateway Clipper, which serves up a lot of Burgh history. Then a ride on one of the inclines*, and back down to the Warhol museum. Izzy seemed to really enjoy both these things! At the museum, Mr. Rilch let her pick out a print, and she got Marilyn Diptych. I got her a few postcards, and secretly a birthday card for when that time comes. And over the rest of the weekend, we made barbecue sauce from a Cowboy Kent Rollins recipe, watched Back to the Future, which she had never seen before, and an episode each of The Simpsons (Last Exit to Springfield) and Gilligan’s Island (Hi-Fi Gilligan), and we played Monopoly.

Then today, we went to orientation at the high school. I wish I’d gone to this high school. Seems like it’ll be a smooth transition. I’m going to get her a box of Tic Tacs for the first day of school. I told her this evening, it’s a good icebreaker: share them around! And we’ve noticed Izzy getting more confident with her English. And as someone once said, a good test of how fluent someone is, is if they get jokes, which she seems to.

*Always makes me think of Guinastasia. Her family’s funeral parlor was up there, on Grandview Avenue, Mt. Washington.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/59f with a predicted high of 21c/70f and cloudy. Weather app says “For fuck’s sake. What up with the fucking overcast sky?” Don’t know, but cool and cloudy is fine by me.

Why would she want a cat bed? She’s got a cardboard box, that’s cat heaven!

We’d miss you too much, then we’d have to come looking for you. doggio might even send both squid and goat after you!

We could do it on Wednesday and be Wumpers!

Sounds like you’re settling in well already! How is Nelson liking his new home?

Lily and BBBoo congrats to both of you!

Yesterday was the usual boring irk day, did a few little jobs and set up the workflow things for the next round of scrutiny reports before the September exam boards take place. Hopefully they will work ok, I emailed the two people who have to approve stuff and offered them a choice of reports so they can let me know which ones they’d prefer to have.

I went to pick up ‘im indoors from the station, and stopped to get petrol on the way back because I need a full tank for the weekend. Then I gathered up the recycling for today’s collection and hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb. I was in bed early and was nice and cool with the bedroom fans running.

This morning I was awake early, got up and tended to the needs of cats. I had to get the rollsuck out upstairs as it looked like Muffin had tipped her litter tray over and spilled the contents all over the floor. It was an easy clean, but not what I wanted at that time of day. Anyway, got that cleaned up and got the cats fed. Then I went out to haul the biiiiig bin back to where it lives, and put the car out on the street ready to take ‘im indoors back to the station.

I didn’t feel like going to the supermarket yesterday so I’ll do that today instead. I cleared out my wardrobe on Sunday so I have some bags of clothing to drop off at the charity bank which is conveniently located in the supermarket’s car park. Other than that, I have to irk all day and make campus food for the rest of the week. At least there’s tea…

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Screaming Tuxedo Zoomies are in progress.

Pilot, no one would ever consider you frumpy.

Can’t imagine ever being so bored I would be willing to pay to watch a baseball game. Or any other kind of ball game, for that matter.

I can be bribed…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost seven-thirty! ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 90 and sunny. It’s been a relatively mild August. Today is laundry day. I can feel the excitatement in the air. Actually the first load is washin’ away as I post. OYKW mentioned yestiddy that he wants to go to Asia hog trough Buffet today, so that will take care of today’s main need to feed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. It will be a small feed, but need to eat a little sump’n before takin’ meds. I must also purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I suffer for my public.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Mornin’ all - About 0730 as I start driveling. Been up balconatin’ and caffinatin’ since about 0600. The 1/4 Moon has joined Venus and Jupiter in the pre-dawn sky. Anyone up after about 4am local time can enjoy the sight. Today dawned with showers over the ocean but clear and dry here. NWS sez 82/28 on the way to 94/35 with scattered clouds and isolated rainshowers. Welcome to glorious summer around here.

I lasted about 20 minutes after sunrise before the sun cleared the clouds and I was dazzled back inside. Then a shower drifted ashore and we briefly had light sun-rain which is always pretty. Just now an enormous self-propelled dredge slowly paraded along the coast a few hundred yards offshore. I wonder where it’s going and can I find it later? So all sorts of balconatin’ drama today.

Baseball last night was good. STL beat MIA 8-3. One of the upsides of seeing your old favorite team play your new favorite team is no matter who wins, you can get some vicarious victory from it. Go me/us! Survived the drive up and back. Kind of a shame to live just over and just under one hour from our two ballparks. Be nice if one was nearby. OTOH, by living right in the middle both are available.

Yakked with GF for 45 minutes after I got home, then to bed. She values the opportunity to vent about her daily frustrations, and I value just hearing her voice. Sounds like we get one more overnight together before her 2-1/2 week Europe trip starts on Sun upcoming. Yaay!

I have the same thought every time I get behind.

Sounds like about 99-1/2 percent of your pre-arrival anxiety was wasted effort on your part. Perhaps there’s a lesson there?

Welp, I’m burnin’ daylight and despite having zero plans for the day I’m feeling just slightly ambitious. So the time for shevelment & feedin’ is nigh.

Cheers to all Tumpers!

I can beat that - I think it’s been 50 years for me - San Diego Padres circa 1975! As a kid, my dad took us to a couple of Orioles games in the days of Brooks Robinson and Boog Powell. We have been to some minor league games here in Waldorf - the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs - but even that’s been a couple of years.

Strange night - after crawling into bed before 10, next thing I remember was FCD getting up a bit before 1 to take some ibuprofen. I lay there thinking about something (don’t recall what) and all of a sudden, I was waking up again about 6:20. A very disjointed “sleep” but I’m up and feeling mostly normal.

I didn’t mention that I kicked Roxy’s butt yesterday in 2 games of Chutes and Ladders, then she beat me at War (the card game.) I’m not much on playing cards, but she makes it, um, interesting. Tobias is still too young for those sorts of diversions. He likes to cook, so I’m trying to decide on something he and I can make together. Cookies are an obvious choice, but none of us need that. So I dunno - maybe lunch?

Today’s plan, weather permitting, is to take the new generator base plate to the marina. FCD finished assembling it yesterday with a teensy bit of my help. It’s a little heavy and a lot impossible for one person to carry. So when we go over, I’ll get some photos of the tanks awaiting installation, then pics after they’re installed. That should happen in the next week or so.

I need to run by CVS and Food Lion for a few things this morning, and on the way back from the marina, I need a few other things at Aldi. So that’ll be fun. I guess. The dishwasher needs to be emptied and I should probably do some rollsuckage. Will that cost me my RDOS card?

Happy Tuesday anyway!

Congratulations! I have a year to go on my medication regimen.

I have zero interest in sports. When I was nine I spent a summer with my older brother (he was sixteen years older than me) in Minnesota. He took me to a Twins game. I barely remember it.

As do I, other than for the occasional NBA game. Even then, I can usually only make it to halftime. At this time of year, half of the local news on TV is dedicated to sports and at least a quarter of it is dedicated to the state fair, which I also have zero interest in.
