FCD reminded me that I need to run to Food Lion today. They have turkeys on sale and I want a small one so I need to get there before the supply is picked over. I’m almost done with my morning surf routine, then shower, dress, and head to Leonardtown! Once I get home, it’ll be time for freezer tetris to accommodate the turkey I’m hoping to score.
It’s my Friday since tomorrow is a government holiday and already have Friday off. Plus, I get off work two hours early today on admin leave. We shall see if I actually take the two hours because something always comes up.
I had another crazy busy day yesterday, and I’m pretty sure today will be the same. It was also very stormy on and off all day yesterday. My power sort of flickered in the morning, but never went out. One of my peers who lives just a few miles from me lost his power and it was out for several hours. Today is supposed to be calmer.
Your daughter is so close, how exciting, FCM!
Depending on tomorrow’s weather, I’ll get the fallen branches picked up, along with raking leaves. That should well and fully stuff my yard bin, so it’s a good thing that it’ll be emptied on Friday. It’s been too cool to “cook down” the stuff already in the bin, so it fills much more quickly now.
I’m sorry about your student, nellie.
I want to get a Costco delivery today, mainly because we’re out of diet Coke. However, the last time I tried this, they didn’t have diet coke, so my main objective was not fulfilled. It seems they often run out of diet coke at my Costco and it’s very annoying. It’s a first world problem for sure. I’ll see how it looks later in the morning.
Today is my mother’s birthday, so I’ll have to remember to give her a call and wish her a happy birthday. I’ll probably take her to lunch or something on Friday. She got to spend the weekend with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandbabies and I know she just loved that.
Time to cruise the 'net before I start work for the day.
I am mentally cursing myself for logging onto work so early. I logged on then walked away around 7:15, only to find that someone had sent me a meeting for 8 a.m. just a minute or two ago. It’s not an emergency, but it is from someone on my team. Fudgepickles. I’ll go, but I don’t gotta like it.
It’s grey around here, threatening rain but producing zilch. Today is my (hopeful) Friday - I took tomorrow off for no good reason save that the kids will be gone, the husband is working and I just feel like having a day to not do things, dammit. The kids have no school Friday for reasons unknown so figured I’d take off with them, sleep in and maybe do Fun Things.
shoe, I feel that down to the ground. Both my husband and I snore, probably quite loudly right now since our noise levels tend to be proportionate to anything over a 2-3 pound weight gain. From my dry mouth in the morning I probably sound like a freight train.
Good haul at Food Lion, altho the turkey is a bit bigger than I wanted, it was the smallest one they had. I don’t know if it’ll fit in the rotisserie - I may have to roast it old school.
The first of the afghans-to-be-donated are in the washer. The cat box has been cleaned. I’m going to put off the firewood chore till after lunch. So I’ve got a couple of hours to chill. Yay.
Morning all. Pills taken and Paper rescued from the driveway. Have also started the first load of laundry for laundry day, should have about 4-5 loads for the day. Heading for 75F and N.O.S. today, but rain is expected tomorrow and will cool us down. Will try and get a few things done outside the house today, mail and shopping, but nothing that can’t wait.
Have read all but absorbed little. Will try to do better later. All y’all take care.
It looks to be a pretty day today.
No daycare or park. Baby Echo isn’t herself today. I’m not sure what is wrong, she’s not ‘sick’, (no vomiting or diarrhea, she’s eating and drinking), but she’s a bit lethargic. Her tail is down and she is moping around.
I think a day of rest is probably good for her.
Ripple isn’t happy though. When he was sick, she had to stay home, so he can stay home when she is not well. He’ll have to get over it.
I wanted to get an oil change today, but it can wait. My son is sleeping as he has to irk tonight, so I’m not going to disturb him to watch the dogs while I’m gone. I don’t know if the shop would let me bring them. So many places around here are allowing (well behaved) dogs inside. CVS let me bring Ripple in with me when their drive thru was broken. Another friend was told she could bring her dog into the grocery store. I think that would be a health code violation, but if they let me, I would take mine in. I know they aren’t going to do anything they shouldn’t.
I’ve been needing to do laundry, so that is on the agenda for today. I need to pay some bills, and do some paper irk organizing. Time to pick my new health insurance plan too. Have to call the doctor to get a prescription renewed. I’ll probably have to go in, I like the doctor but I hate going. Such a pita.
I may sit outside for a bit with the dogs. Echo wants to be outside; she just doesn’t want to do anything while she’s out there. A friend invited us over for a playdate, but her dogs are very energetic and I think that is not good for Echo today.
I need to get busy.
Some kind of screw up at irk last night. I thought I got fired or something, but nope everything is okay. They don’t know what happened, think maybe just a blip in the system.
I ought to start a poll on how long it takes Pixel to adjust to Standard Time. Smart money would be “sometime in March.” Until then its “poke…poke…poke. Feed me.” at an ungodly hour of the morning. Shaved, laved and at my desk at school doing paperwork. Hope everybody has a wonderful Wednesday!
Well, it turns out because of the slant of my back seat, the baby’s seat sits too upright. So I need to unlatch it (dammit) and insert a shim so the baby will be more reclined. I still may make my SIL do it… No rush, tho. I shouldn’t need to use that seat till January.
Very cool video, especially the cougar. There have been several reports of owl attacks in our area along the hiking trail. Unlike a jay, an owl will actually hit you and draw blood, and their attack is nearly silent. Protecting nests, I’m assuming.
With tomorrow being Veterans’ Day, it almost feels like a Friday.
If my head cooperates, I’ll have the organizers here later today and then for the next 2 days. I’m looking forward to the end results, but not to the process. Blergh.
Remember how I said Midnight ran behind? It happened again. They tried doing a bucket brigade to hand up the bags into the loft(6feet in the air) which went poorly. And the Senior Shouting Officer was shouting at us over the radio. Then I had to sort in 32, with a bunch of newbie loaders. And as God is my witness, the next loader who throws out a misssort, and pegs me is gonna have that box shoved sideways into the smallest possible orifice.
Every being in the apartment snores. Although Alex Catt’s sounds like a mosquito soaked in Red Bull.
Nifty cougar, Flyboy. What’s the opposite of pspspspspspsp?
Afternoon all. Ate a big section of the cinnamon roll wheel I got from soccer, with approximately 12 million calories, but it was delicious. Second load of laundry is almost done, while it was washing I ran out and paid the water bill, mailed a letter, and both 2 pairs of gloves (got the senior discount to boot!), since I am almost guaranteed to lose at least 1 pair during the cold months. Long hot bath is next on the schedule.
flyboy, nice captures; how close is the camera to your abode?
doggio, love the term Senior Shouting Officer, bet most of us have had 1 or 2 in our lifetimes like that.
Sari, hope Echo gets to feeling better.
shoe, I have been told that I snore, but I’ve never heard a thing…
Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions, I did church janitor JW stuff, and helped with the big move. I did not end up foolin’ with the bed as that got done in the mornin’, but I did assist with packin’ up some stuff. Since there were enough folks to deal with it all, I headed back to da cave instead of goin’ on over to the new digs to help unload/unpack. I smelled like that sleaze motel she was stayin’ in, so when I go home I undressed and showered. The shirt and jeans I was wearin’ are now airin’ out on the back porch. ICK! In other news, we decided to go to the hog trough Golden Corral to take advantage of the geezer early bird discount, which is geezer discount and free drink. After that we went to the discount grocery sto’ to stock up on Diet Poopsie as two litre bottles were on sale for a dollah. So we two retired drains on society have had quite a day. We’ll have to double down on sloth tomorrow.
flyboy cool footage! I especially liked the deer, coyote, and owl that were Voguein’ for the cam. Cool footage of the cougar as well.
shoe it was me who willed you to give extra treats to the kitties. Then again, I am prone to spoilin’ rotten all domestic critters in my presence.
