Impending holidays and stuff in the MMP

If any of you snore louder’n my late Grandpa, I’d be impressed- when I stayed at his as a kid, he’d sleep downstairs, as far away as possible and it was still LOUD

For a few years, he worked in Saudi Arabia, living in the works compound. There were huts with 2 beds in each, and the same number of people as beds. Grandpa was a friendly guy, and people swapped around a fair bit, so he had multiple offers to share, but no-one managed more than a few nights sharing with him before moving into another hut… to sleep 3 to a hut.

The kicker? It was next to an airfield, planes took off through the night just a few hundred yards away, and he was still louder.

Why yes; my grandparents were divorced…

Yay for impending babby, assorted wildlife, and anything else which requires a yay. Assorted hugs, trouts etc also available on request. My brain is still slightly fried from doing stats all day (with minor hangover- went to a birthday party last night).

Cloudy but not rainy here, which is nice. Rain commences again tonight. Then comes the deluge.

I’m about to head to the gym. The maintenance guys painting and cleaning downstairs are blaring The Worst of The EIghties or some such. It must be a state law that they have to paint between tenants, like it is in Illinois. The Louds weren’t down there more than 8 months.

Oh, wait, I have to get a sympathy card and letter ready for the mom of my former student. Thanks, all of you, for the condolences. Too many people dying lately, especially young people.

flyboy, such a cool video! Thanks so much for posting!

Moooom that baby seat looks awesome. I don’t know why car seats aren’t easier to install and more car-friendly. Is Roxy still in a car seat? If so, does hers fit back there, too? Good thing Tobias isn’t twins!

Witch hazel hemorrhoidal wipes sting like the dickens

Good on you for helping a fellow parishioner with a move swampy.

nellie, re the hemorrhoidal wipes, try something with lidocaine.

It must be a day for sick dogs sari. When I got home, Nelson had ralphed on the bed. The sheets just went into the dryer and the quilt just went into the wash. So much for hitting the dog park before the rain / cold gets serious this weekend.

Irked, came home, cleaned up after Nelson and walked him, put clean sheets on the bed, et and am fixing to do KP. Afterward, it will be chill time.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

 So happy to report I don’t have this issue! I was merely thinking of dogbutler’s errant coworker after getting something cubical inserted in the, uh, nether region.

I hope Nelson and Echo recover quickly from whatever is ailing each of them. Nothing sadder than a pup under the weather.

Roxy’s seat is the one with the purple trim in the foreground. The rear-facing seat behind the passenger seat is Toby’s. He won’t be turned around till he’s 2. Roxy will remain in the seat till she’s 8. At some point, we can remove the back and she’ll just have the booster. Then at 8, she’ll just be belted like the rest of us.

Turns out Roxy is done with school for the week. My daughter didn’t realize she has tomorrow off, so she may bring her over to my house. I’m waiting to hear. Meanwhile, I want to finish the last afghan so I can send it with the others next week. Off to assume the recline position.

Evening all (yes, it’s only 5:30pm where I live, but it’s already been dark for 30 minutes, so evening it is). Last of 5 loads of laundry is finishing up now, then the great folding will take place. Need to fix a little dinner, but still feeling stuffed from that huge hunk of cinnamon roll this morning.

red, hope pupper gets to feeling better.

nellie, no telling what they might have done to the walls down there.

OK, need to do some internettin’, so all y’all take care.

Nelson seems to be bouncing back. Still, I’ll keep him out of the dog park this weekend.

spsppspspsps.

I liked the ‘Meow!’ :stuck_out_tongue:

red Go Nelson!

I think we may be in need of a pet pic binge. I wanna see Pixel and Echo and all the others. Here’s the old man Cinnamon.

Missed the edit window. Ratties and snakes and everyone else, too.

I second the lidocaine suggestion.

HA!

I love your style, wench.

Mrs. L.A. had four patients today, so she came home later than usual. I told her I was making patty melts for dinner and she said that sounded good. Quarter-pound beef patties, a slice of American cheese each, and sautéed onions (cooked with the beef, in butter) with Thousand Island dressing. She got sourdough, and I got low-carb multi-grain. The Trader Joe’s dill pickles were nice and dilly. (Including actual dill.)

You can thank Douglas Adams

[quote=“Filbert, post:101, topic:953971”] for that.
The kicker? It was next to an airfield , planes took off through the night just a few hundred yards away, and he was still louder.

Apparently your grandpa was reincarnated as the late Nelly K. Beagle. She sounded like a running chainsaw being shoved into a running garbage disposal.

Feel better, Nelson and Echo

I am confused. I got a call from my pharmacy, saying an Rx was ready to be picked up. The Rx was for “epinephrine inj”–in other words, an Epi-pen. I have no allergies or history of anaphylaxis. I asked what doc ordered it: the allergist. Huh. When I do get the injections for the mast cell disorder, I’ll have to stick around at the dr.'s office for two hours just in case I go into anaphylactic shock. I need an epi-pen, too? Or is it because I have this mast cell disorder, and it’s a precaution for that? (My son, who does have allergies but no history of A.S., has an epi-pen for that reason.) Got me. I have a call in to the doc’s office.

I’m not freaked out by the idea of an epi-pen. I got training in using one when I taught. They’re easy-peasy I’d rather not have to cart one around, though.

I laughed way too hard at this.

VanGo, Cinnamon is adorable! I want to snuggle that sweet face!

dogbutler, if you ever get tired of Gordie*, I’ll take him. That expression! I’m captivated.

*I know, I know, but a gal can dream, can’t she?

Wait till you see the “I want chicken” eyebrow waggle.

Gordie is a sweet looking pupper! Skritches.

He waggles his eyebrows? That does it. I have to have him…or a video of the eyebrow-waggling, at the very least.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off to heave. Will there be chaos? Yes. Will that be good for my bottom line? Yes.
