A note on the headscarf: I’m in Iraq and depending on where you are, a lot of Western women (aid workers, journalists, whatever) wear headscarves to blend in. I try dress in a way that I don’t stand out in traffic here. I don’t consider doing so as expressing support of terrorism. If, god forbid, I am taken hostage, please let Imus know that :rolleyes:

Once again, a lot of Westerners here adopt habits that lower their profile. It is a safety measure. An Arabic name would draw less attention than a Western name in phone conversations, etc. It would also be easier for an Arabic speaker to say an Arabic name. I have given up on anyone here pronouncing my name correctly.
Also, dressing in Arabic clothing and adopting Arabic manner does not in itself convey support of terrorism. Arab=terrorist is not a fair assumption. The vast majority of the victims of terrorism here in Iraq are Iraqis. Get it?
