Apparently one’s sense of smell diminishes with age. Roxy had a fragrant diaper yesterday evening and I didn’t notice, but as soon as daughter came home from class, she smelt it. Guess that means I need to do periodic butt checks on the kid when she’s in my custody.
It’s my Firday. Tim is keeping me busy, so yay!
Tomorrow, I’m going to Lowe’s to find some ground cover for around the new building. I also need to boil up a mess of eggs that will be dyed and deviled for Easter. There will be 16 of us at dinner, but not everyone likes 'em. Still, I should probably do the dozen anna half. My sister will be happy for leftovers.
But first, I gotta get thru today. Happy Thursday!!
Awake, dog walked. I got me a cheap smoothie blender and just whipped up my first using only what I had which was homegrown bananas very small ones, and some frozen mango chunks, OJ and a smidge of milk. Not bad for a first try. Need to lay in some proper smoothie making ingredients.
Tahred already. Gotta clerk again today. Yesterday was insane. Had a little bit of everything. The telephone non-stop and a room full of customers until after lunch time. Took me two hours to finish a small salad. Fun stuff !!!
** MetalMouse and Moooom**. I love hearing about your weird dreams. I don’t remember mine mostly.
**Butters **- last night’s weird dream included a young Val Kilmer. That’s all I remember about it, but it was enough. He was so cute, but like most of us, he hasn’t aged too well.
Butters, Yeah on the shots (and the time off). hope today is less hectic. As for dreams, I mentioned mine because I very, very rarely remember any.
FCM, it’s my hearing that is going more than my sense of smell, but not being able to smell dirty diapers is a plus in my book…
shady, I’m not always sure I interpret your messages correctly, but I know an OUCH when I see it; hope you feel better today.
gotti, I’ve managed 3 years of retirement doing mostly nothing; you can manage five weeks…
swampy, I’ve thought about getting a rocking chair, but don’t have a covered porch (may need to check what it costs to get a covered porch).
Didn’t send out some e-mails last night as I should have, so guess I felt guilty and arose at 5:30am to send them. So nappage is a possibility. Tunder-Boomers are due this evening, it’ll be a race to get soccer practice in. Still in the 70’s, but heading downward after the rain passes.
Laundry is underway. And next week by this time I’ll be most of the way to the Old Family Stomping Grounds; I would avoid Luzerne County and possibly the entire region. Just in case me and the kin reinvent “fall-out” or something more significant than our usual exploits. Until Saturday when we move to Knoebels for Opening Weekend and all becomes right with the world again.
Major brain fart when I was packing my lunch this morning. My sammich is bread and mayo with swiss. No meat. It’s very boring - not even the good grain bread I sometimes buy - just boring whole wheat.
Plans for the day include mowing the lawn. Just waiting for the grass to get good and dry. Our 30 year old mower doesn’t like wet grass. The motor has plenty of power, but the chute from the deck into the bag is just too small. *(place disparaging remark about engineers here) *
If I have the tme, and energy, after, I may lay down some poison to kill the digger bees that have re-appeared in our front lawn. They don’t really bother me all that much, but if I let them go we’ll have literally thousands of them by the fall, and they scare people, which may or may not be a bad thing.
My furry alarm just alerted me that the mail is here.
I’m not sore actually I didn’t even get a bruise so that’s good I guess
today is more yard stuff and easter annoyances … aunts past the mad stage and now we’re at the "I’m still gonna kiss butt even though I’m unhappy with the ones who do no wrong " stage…
although to their credit, they tell her most of her efforts are wasted and they wont even be here but what can ya do…
Anyone around NE Kansas that likes Godzilla needs to check out the Godzilla and Friends film festive. May 3-4, at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. It is Friday evening and all day Saturday. Loads of fun, and free!
It is hard for me to wait, I love the old style kaiju, and have been involved in setting up the fest this year.
I’ll have you know that the official heathen cornbread recipe contains no sugar.
butters, glad the shots got approved. If you want to mess around with smoothies, try some yogurt in them.
Things that came from the southwest vendor are beginning to get counted and put away. Yay!
I came home to find that my oven is out. That didn’t bode well for the upcoming holiday, so I called the office. They will install another stove tomorrow whilst I irk.
I don’t put sugar in my cornbread, but I’ve been known to add actual corn kernels.
anything that increases the corniness is good in my (cook)book.
Lawn is mowed. Poison is spread to kill off ground hornets, or whatever these things are. They look like bees and I suppose the might fertilize something, besides each other, but I don’t know that I should worry about reducing their numbers.
Nappage was accomplished and soccer practice got cancelled in front of a looming storm system (which didn’t show up until 7pm, so I could have gotten practice in anyway). Raining now and looking at the NWS radar, looks like rain for most of the night. Oh joy.
Let’s see, Cupcakes, Huntsville to Topeka…725 miles is just a bit much…but have fun!
ruble, I would be happy to ram you anytime (in bumper cars only, of course…)
**MetalMouse ** and others should not go to bed nekkid tonight just in case of tornadoes. Wrecked havoc in MS today. We have an 80% chance of boomers but we are on the tail end and the skinny part even though weather underground says we are socked in most of the afternoon and night tomorrow. Bring it. Should they be wrong and the crap is hitting around my time to head to the hellhole I shan’t do it. People first then facilities then customers. Had another good news email today where the new Director sent the brass a BLUF ( bottom line up front) about the good, bad and ugly of the department finances. Guess who was on the good list? Yep, me and one other which was the RV Park. We are co-located. I was in the bldg first. I know it seems I brag a whole bunch but I see some stuff that boggles my mind.
Still not done with the budget and may have to bring it home over the weekend if I can get an extension. If not I shall just concentrate on my stuff but I offered and boss readily agreed I can do the entire community rec division since he and his wife( she is the fitness director) conveniently just got back to irk today from a vacay to Vegas. They even managed to avoid the auditor. I will help him as I can but not until my activity is complete. Sucks being him. That’s why he makes the bigger bucks. The April timeframe for budget submittal is always in April. This never changes. I would imagine the New Director took note.
We had crappy take in pizza as I just could not cook and hubs irked late. I have a hair appt on Tuesday at 3pm and my first set of knee shots on Wed at 1015. Gotta hunt down and make ready my maxi skirt for new shot day as I ain’t got the time or want to to take off pants. If I can remember I shall try to schedule an appt to get car serviced one day next week as well. I still have 12 hours of comp from Airshow and already had three so shouldn’t have to use any leave for all of it.
