In a Perfect Day MMP

So youd put up a friend, which frees up a (cheap) hotel room foe RustingRat? Thats quite kind of you!

i was going to post this here but i felt the need to truly share my wrath… note theres very bad language after this experience

That is most kind of you, and if life ever takes you to N. Ali-bama, the same offer stands.

But alas, coaching youth soccer limits my movements until after Memorial Day.

Still raining outside and looks to be sticking around for awhile. Only good thing is no warnings for the area…yet.

shady, you sound a bit upset…

Butters, I always have something nearby for emergency dressing…

Whoa, time for bed. All y’all take care.

This is going to be a rough day. I woke a bit after 2 and I couldn’t fall back to sleep. Happy Firday, I guess,

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy (dark, actually) and this shall be the predicted high for the day along with rain/tstorms/apocalypse. A tornado watch is in effect until nine a.m. I shall attend Good Friday service at noon. That is the extent of what I plan for activity today outside of makin’ sup which shall be salmon patties, smashed N.O.T., peas and bizkits. The bizkits shall be of the frozen variety. Don’t Judge!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then I shall purtify and at some point don appropriate goin’ about the public attire. Such a bother!

Happy Firday Y’all!

A blessed Good Friday to those who observe.

I’m up, breakfasted, and caffeinated. It’s dreary out, with much rainage promised thru tomorrow morning. I need to make a grocery run, and I think I’ll strip the bed today. I doubt that I can manage much more.

ugh.

Happy Firday!

I slept through the night for a change, so not feeling so horrible this morning.

It’s a cloudy 66 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 70.
It’s suppose to rain later, so going to the park may not be on the agenda.

We’ll see. At least if we do go there may not be many people there. While there isn’t anybody I don’t like who comes there, there are some tiresome types.
Also, even worse than the ones who bring food, are the ones who bring in females who are in heat, along with those who bring un-neutered males. Yesterday there was an un-neutered male mastiff who was very enamored of a just got out of heat female akita, who didn’t appreciate his rather clumsy attempts at romance.

Anyway, we’ll see what the day brings.

Short day ahead of me; leaving early to go to Good Friday services. Then I shall commence my annual tradition; spring cleaning while watching Jesus Christ Superstar. When I was a kid, my mom would do that every year. We would take down winter decorations, dust, put up spring decorations, sweep, etc. while listening to the movie, popping into the living room to watch our favorite songs.

Then Romeo will make fish and chips and mushy peas, which is Juliet Jr.'s favorite meal.

Morning all.

60F and more rain is expected later today, so we’ll see what the weekend brings. Inside with my newspaper and Sudoku puzzles, so except for mailing bills nothing much on the agenda for today.

Sari, shouldn’t they have a rule about bringing un-neutered animals to the park? Sounds like a potential lawsuit waiting to happen to me…

swampy, looks like you’re getting the same weather front that passed through here last night, the real bad stuff stayed south of me, so you may be in the line of fire.

Juliet, never heard of that custom, but for the season it does make sense. Happy cleaning!

Do a little more work about the house then eat BLT’s. Sounds like a plan.

Back from WalMart and Aldi. I’ve got the eggs on to boil - I’ll peel 'em today and devil 'em tomorrow. I’ve also got to find 2 baking dishes to make the birthday cakes. And it’s Roxy time!!

I saw Jesus Christ Superstar on a school field trip.

MetalMouse, the park has lots of rules. No food, no dog treats, no females in heat, no un-neutered makes over a certain age, no children without adults, no dogs without people, no people without dogs, no dogs on a leash in the park, pick up after your dog, no dog poop in the trash cans, no trash in the dog poop cans… all of which have been ignored. The small dog park people keep stealing the big dog park water bowls, which are clearly marked large dog park. Although that is because some people have brought them, not that the park supplies them, however the doggie water fountain doesn’t work so well, so people either bring water or fill the bowls from the human water fountain.

The one rule that cracks me up though is that you can’t let your dog bark continuously for more than 3 minutes. Like somebody is going to stand there with a stop watch and once you pass 2 minutes and 59 seconds you are in violation of the rules and have to leave the park?

My son has a rather difficult school assignment and needs my input. He has to apply for a job, for reals, except he will be sending the packet to his professor instead of the company. So he has to find a job, research the company, write a cover letter, write a resume, and some other information, and it all has to be related to his future degree.
He cracks me up though, he found a bunch of construction jobs. I said I think that is not right for you, or for this assignment. So he says to me, I don’t think they’d want me because I don’t go to the gym and lift weights. I said construction workers don’t go to the gym, construction work * is* the gym. He found lots of sales jobs, not a good choice for somebody who is so shy. Or it would be really good for him to get him over his shyness.
I’m sure he’ll figure out something. Just hope he doesn’t drive me crazy in the process.

So y’all ready for another story time?

The other day at the park there was hardly anybody there.
Eventually it was just me and a nice black man. We were sitting at the picnic table talking when all of a sudden he starts talking about racism, and social justice, and politics. I have no idea why, but it was an interesting discussion, we agreed on some things, disagreed on others, but all very polite and as he was leaving he thanked me for the talk and said that I had given him a different perspective on some things and given him something to think about. I said me too.
Then a while later a man comes and sits next to me at the table. We talked about our dogs, and the stupidity of the person who had brought food into the park. I said it reminded me of when I worked on the horse farm and we’d have to carry 50 pound bags of sweet feed out into the field, although hungry horses are much more threatening than hungry dogs. Anyway, he had a pretty thick accent so I asked him when he was from, Virginia, and I said I had family there and where about and he said Charlottesville, and he said, yes, that** Charlottesville. So the next thing I know we are talking racism, social justice, and politics. He is a self described bleeding heart liberal, and we had a very interesting discussion in which we agreed on some things, disagreed on others, all very polite, and as he was leaving he said he enjoyed talking to me, that I had given him some things to think about and I said me too.
Then this other guy shows up, I’ve seen him there several times. So he sits down at the other table, but still within talking distance, and the next think I know we are talking religion, he is a Satanist, no surprise to me. So we are talking religion and the next thing I know we are talking racism, social justice, and politics, and he is a white nationalist. So we had a very interesting discussion, agreed on some things, disagreed on others, all very polite and respectful.

I told one of my friends, and she said you certainly got the gamut that day. She thought it was pretty cool. I said yeah I did, and I have no idea why, it’s not like I initiated any of the discussions. While I enjoyed them, three of them back to back in the span of several hours was a bit much. It’s the dog park, we are there to talk about the weather, our dogs, and bitch about what the city is doing wrong.

I presume that’s a typo for ‘males’, and I hope we’re talkin’ dogs there…

Got back from my trip last night, was generally fun; saw people, actually did spend one day working on my skool irk, and have one of the two assignments basically finished, bought interesting foodstuff to bring back, and only slightly overspent.

The car is a lot nicer to drive distance than the old one, with the one downside of having no working radio. It does have a functional CD player, but I’ve not had a CD player in some time, so I only had a very few CDs still lying around. Having to change them is also not ideal with no passengers, involving much planning to be able to do it without taking eyes off the road. I’ll try and work out something that I can plug in the aux socket, but well, see ‘overspent’ above. Plus I’m not irking today (was supposed to be, but it got cancelled 'cos it wasn’t going to be as busy as initially thought, and I’d said I was flexible), so that’s a bit less money coming in this month.

Can I eat my chocolate aig yet?

Nut, have you looked into the cost of getting a new radio for the car? IIRC, it doesn’t cost all that much anymore. But glad it otherwise performed to your expectations.

Sari, sometimes I miss discussions like that. They can be tiring, but it sounds like you’re one of those people who can talk of many things rationally (a skill I fear we’re losing, if you look in the Pit here…). And yeah, rules are made to be ignored by people who then wonder why things go wrong…

Bit embarrassed this morning; went out the front door to get my newspaper and noticed I hadn’t closed the garage door (happens now and then), so I come back in the garage and close it and go back to internettin’…about 15 minutes later there is a voice at my door and clearly from inside the house! It’s my neighbor, I had forgotten to close the front door when I came back in. I think I convinced her it wasn’t early senility, but I did find my Cologuard kit had arrived. Get to read the directions this weekend, and send it in during the work week.

When I was in Jr high, our church brought in a group that was apparently traveling from church to church, lip-syncing to Superstar. It was very obviously an amateur troupe with and unimaginative director. The only gesture they were taught was to hold their hands in front of them, palms up, and move them up and down to indicate… well, anger, amazement, disgust, whatever.

It wasn’t a terrible production, but we did mock it mercilessly on the way home. But we were polite in the auditorium.

Roxy is napping. Eggs are peeled. I just lunched. I’m going to assume the afghaning position till the baby wakes up.

Jesus Christ Superstar is the show that started my love/hate relationship with Andrew Lloyd Weber. I love JCS, especially since it is so linked with fond memories of my childhood. Plus, I think the music is incredible. But I absolutely can’t stand CATS. At one point, the show came to the performing arts center that I worked at in college, and I happened to be out of the country for the whole time it was there. I joked that I hated it so much I left the country to avoid it. Starlight Express is another ALW musical I can’t stand. I just don’t get it. Yet, Evita is beautiful and powerful and I love it. And then there’s Phantom of the Opera. It’s pretty good, but it’s so over. It was so overdone for so long that I’m kind of desensitized to it.

You don’t like Cats??? Oh, dear, I’m not sure I can associate with you any longer… :stuck_out_tongue:

Rain has started. I’ve done a fair bit of crocheting. It’s a mostly lazy day.

blurf Everyone has left to take advantage of our early closure except me. Tis mercifully quiet though. I will hang around until five and plug away. Boss came by and said he is getting sick but will come by on Moanday and we will finish the budget then. I called Mr. Cranky, the business manager, and asked for an extension until Moanday and he readily agreed. I think he was happy someone was at least working on it. We are stiil expecting some bad wx this afternoon. Tahred.

**BBBobbio **came over to say hi to us at Cracker Barrel - he’s leaving Merrylande the first week of June to be closer to his Indiana family. Grandfatherhood does that to a person.

I lurves the Friday Fish Fry at CB, but I’m glad to be home. Gonna crochet till I can’t keep my eyes open, and I’m thinking I’ll sleep with Mel tonight.

I thought Cats had a couple of good songs in it and I liked the costumes, mostly. Other than that I can take ALW or leave him.

I need to learn how to make good fish and chips, a talent that has so far escaped me, along with every cook and ‘chef’ in our small town, unfortunately.

Went to the deli around the corner for tamale pie, which, according to their website, they had, only to be told that it wasn’t their website at all. It belongs to the previous owners who “refuse to take it down”. (She said.)

le sigh

The rain has returned so no soccer practice tonight and games tomorrow are in question. Did get some bills mailed and the gas bill is paid and will be dropped off tomorrow.

Still thinking about dinner, will go look in the refrigerator in a moment (leaning toward nuking some Fettuchini Alfredo). Then an early night in case soccer is a go (first game is at 8;30am).

FCM, wondered where Bobbio had wandered off to. Hope he enjoys life in Indiana.

Butters, sometimes my most productive time was when nobody else was around. And boss will come in despite being ill…sounds like a keeper.
