By the end of the week, we’ll start having more daylight hours than night (except for **BatBoy **- sorry…)
Whatcha gonna do with all those extra light rays?
Happy Moanday!
By the end of the week, we’ll start having more daylight hours than night (except for **BatBoy **- sorry…)

Happy Moanday!
Happy Moonday!
It’s almost SPRING!
Two more days, and I am so looking forward to some warmer weather.
The yard needs a good raking, and there are lots of sticks to pick up this year. I’m hoping my wild flower garden does well this year. I also plan on planting lots of mint around the house this year, supposed to deter mice.
Much more tasteful than my friend’s suggestion that I decapitate my victims and place their little heads on tiny spikes to serve as a warning to other mice.
I can feel my mood improving as the gloom of winter fades away.
Spring is my favorite season.
Hop, hop, Springs into first!
Saw the first buds of flowers on the edge of the road yesterday & I can’t wait to listen to the chirdies burp.
And you sprung right over the MMP I started… I’ll ask a moderator to merge.
Right now I’ll be happy if it just stops being humidly hot overnight. That’s getting very tedious.
I’m going off on a little break this week. It will be the first holiday I’ve had in nearly 15 years. Though it’s only to Tasmania, which admittedly is not a great distance from where I am now. But it’s picturesque, it will be time to clear my head and maybe catch up on some creative work I’ve left languishing, and most importantly I’ll be away from my idiot racist housemate who is doing my head in.
I’m wait for all the ice and snow to melt so I can attach the rest of the farkle to the motorcycle I bought in September and get back on the road.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of <snerk> 69! <snerk> and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I was a slug a bed and did not arise until 7:15 this mornin’. Today is cave cleanin’ day but don’t know how much I’ll get done. I await a call from the plumber about flushin’ out the floor drains in the kitchen over to the church house. I shall have to go meet said plumber to get that done. Rah. Tonight is also men’s night over to the church house, so I shall be there ahead of time to get stuff set up.
So we start to get more daylight. Don’t know if it’ll mean anything special to me but it could bum out the vampires.
I see from the last MMP that I have tied with El Kabong for the coveted title of best avatar. Methinks Wolfpup is a big fan of Hannah Barbara cartoons.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire once again. Such bother!
Happy Moanday Y’all!
I think you beat me by this <> much
and I type very very slowly
I will note, however, that this approach may also be effective on salesmen and proselytisers…
It’s not feeling very springlike today; I’m feeling a bit cheated, the forecast here was soggy over the weekend, then OK today and tomorrow. I’m working at something tomorrow, so I thought, seeing as I’m getting about on top of course-irk (finally; only 2 more sections to do, 7 days til hand in and the last one took only one day), I’d go out and do something nice before I actually fuse to the chair and/or computer. Yesterday turned out pretty nice, but I’d got into irk and didn’t want to stop, and today is actually raining, heavily. Bah.
Also didn’t sleep much last night due to earache, so too dozy to go far anyway. Need to go shop for fud later, but that’ll be the limit of the excitement.
Moderator Note
We had two MMPs this morning, so they have been merged. This may cause a bit of confusion with some posts as they are ordered according to the time of posting, and not by which thread they were originally posted in.
Tsar Peter the Great was terrified upon seeing a guy pinning a roach to the wall to deter others.
You incorrectly assume that there’s anything orderly about the MMP.
Thanks for bringing us together!!
And there will be no car-buying after all. Daughter is so upside-down on her loan that it added a ridiculous amount to the new loan, making the payments obscenely high for a used vehicle. So it’s in the shop having the safety items addressed, and if she’s smart, she’ll work her ass off to pay it down so all she owes is what it’s worth, making a trade-in a null point. She can do it within 2 years, or less when SIL goes to work.
Meanwhile, I’m the bad guy for pointing all this out to her. I’m such a meanie!!!
FCM, my extra hours are usually going to be taken up with soccer for the kids. Darn near as busy with it as swampy is taking care of the church.
Morning all. Slept 9 hours so I’m ready for another fun week. Going to be in the 50’s-60’s this week and a chance of rain only on Thorsday. Need to go out for my Moanday JJ’s in a bit then to the li-berry to work on making up soccer teams for the 6-year old girls (the boys I’ll work on tomorrow). Printed out about 18 messages from parents who want kids with this or that friend and coaches who want this or that day for practice–all I’ve got to do is make 50 people happy…
Nut, ah the joys of a British spring…stay dry, get the course work done, and maybe the sun will come out tomorrow…
Bat Boy, I’ve visited Australia and New Zealand, but didn’t make it to Tasmania. Enjoy yourself.
Sari, you could always go the Count Dracul route (also known as Vlad the Impaler) and just impale the bodies on sticks…
OK, enough musings for Monday morning. Take care all.
Invade amusement parks of course!
I love the cold but the ice we had this year I can live without.
This MMP is brought to you by DoubleMint Gum -------- double fresh, double smooth.
Other than that some laundry has been started.
The one thing I will do with the extra hours of sunlight is enjoy them, even if it just means sitting outside more often.
The doc told me I am vitamin d deficient, I got some vitamin pills but sitting outside more often will help, I’m sure.
As much as I hate the little mousies, I don’t want to see them suffer.
One of my friends knows a a guy who is a (many grands) nephew Vlad. She finds it disturbing, I’d love to meet him.
We thought we were done with mice, no noises, the traps have not been sprung, the cat not in hunting mode. Then Ripple caught one yesterday. He never catches them on his own, the cat got it first, but then Ripple takes over and kills them quickly.
If only they were that good at catching bushy tailed tree rats.
He is keeping an eye on me, waiting for a sign that we are heading for the park.
I get your daughter being bummed about the new car FCM, but such is life.
Cause confusion? By noon the MMP usually is confusion!
<singing> Come together ------- right now
Thanks to Geek
I don’t know about you lot but Tasmania sounds so exotic…Blurf. Overslept seriously this morning. I awoke in the middle of the night with a sinus attack and took benedryl. That knocked me out but good. Happy new week and welcome spring.
Is it Moanday already? I’ve had an awesome weekend, went to a 3-day music festival in North Wales. The being in North Wales bit wasn’t so awesome since it was howling down most of the time and blowing a gale. However, site was good, we were staying 5 minutes walk from the main venues, and I got to see a load of really great bands.
Now I need sleep to get over it, and I do not need extra daylight hours until I’ve caught up with my need for nighttime hours instead. Even better, someone has put a 9am meeting in my calendar for tomorrow. I will now have to hunt them down and smack them round the head with a wet fish.
Batboy, I envy you the trip to trip to Tassie, it’s on my list of places to go but we haven’t made it yet. This summer’s plan is Denver and the mountains instead
So last night, I went to take a shower. Our bathtub has a “hot” knob and a “cold” knob. I turn the hot knob and nothing happened. Turned it off and back again… nothing. Nada. So I bonked on it a little and HOORAY WATER! But the water wouldn’t turn off. Something inside the knob got stuck and the knob wouldn’t turn all the way back. So we had to turn off hot water to the whole house. The plumber came out and fixed the issue… temporarily. Water isn’t pouring out the faucet, but we have to be super careful about it, and the fix likely won’t last terribly long.
So let’s replace the outdated faucet that’s been in that tub since it was installed some 60 years ago. Great idea… except that in order to do that, our plumber would need access to the inside of the wall because this house is old and dumb. The tile in the surround has been falling apart for a while and we’ve been meaning to replace it for years. Well, now here’s the kick in the pants for us to redo our shower plumbing and surround.
Except that right now, plumbers and handymen are super busy helping people fix up after last week’s flooding that left half our city underwater. And our plumber has a vacation planned for next week. So we’re going to be really careful with the shower for the next couple weeks while we get this all figured out.
