ohai! >^.^< up too early
I am (slowly) kicking the head cold, the DH is still honking and snorking a LOT. I’m letting him sleep as long as he likes today. No caffeine yet: our machine is LOUD.
Thursday had the car’s engine go out as well as having dentist tell me that the tooth which lost its’ filling cannot be mended: it’s split in two. Graaaaagh!
I’ve been up 45 minutes or so. I slept in again, but it felt good. I’m sipping some good dark roast coffee and cruising the 'net.
It was fun skyping with my son yesterday. I saw how he and his roommates had changed their room around, and saw and “met” several other people in his room that were visiting.
He was grinning ear to ear when he saw his. I think my son actually misses us and not just the dogs. We talked, we laughed, we joked. It was a good conversation. He finally said he had to go because he was going to hang out with his friends and possibly go to a dance.
We’re going out to dinner tonight with our friends. I don’t know what or if we’re going to do anything after dinner.
Next weekend, we’ll celebrate my husband’s birthday at another friend’s house. My husband’s 48th birthday is the 16th.
I guess we’ll knock out some chores around here during the day today and hubby plans on getting a haircut. That’s the exciting news from my little corner of the Pacific Northwest.
Sounds like you had a nice chat with your son, Taters. Thank goodness for Skype.
Decided to make some yummy breakfast instead of waiting till the farmer’s market. Am just going to go to the one around the corner. Still a bit sleepy because I didn’t sleep quite enough.
Need to take inventory of TP and tissues and such and then go off to shop for a few things.
Fun times.
Hugs.

All is right with the world again. We went grocery shopping and I now have a full gallon of milk, a new jar of grape jelly, and TWO jars of peanut butter. I am satisfied.
We didn’t get TP though. I completely forgot because I was so focused on not forgetting the peanut butter.
Got up at 10am, lucky me. The dogs got my boyfriend up at 7:30. Since I cleaned yesterday, it looks like today will be filled with City of Heroes and whatever random documentaries we can find on Netflix.
Good day ahead.
We watched a rather interesting documentary on Netflix last night about college education; the costs, how employers are complaining that graduates aren’t coming out prepared, how professors feel they must pass kids to keep retention, and thus state dollars flowing into the colleges, etc. They focused on students and professors at only two schools mainly, but it was interesting.
They talked and interviewed at Western Kentucky University, the University of Arizona, Amherst, and Denver Community College. It was really an eye opener in some cases. I gotta say, kids getting into Amherst are quite lucky. Smaller classes, etc.
I’ve got the dishwasher loaded, and am getting ready to do some more tidying up.
On the TP front, we just now busted open the biiiiiiiiig pack we bought at Costco a month ago. We go through a lot less toilet paper now that my son is gone.
I’d actually be transferring to Amherst but it’s about an hour and 15 minute drive. I’ve had a couple friends graduate from there and they all seem very happy with their educations.
We’re watching Deep Sea Detectives right now. I’ll have to add that college one to the queue.
I found Amherst quite interesting. The fact they’re a privately endowed college and they offer more aid to their students was real heartening.
The state schools here have cut their aid to students considerably and the state has cut back quite a lot funding to our state schools. It’s kind of sad, because the state schools are supposed to be there for the kids who can’t afford a private college education. But, even the state school costs here have gone up astronomically. Enough so that my kids had to take out loans to go to school. We just can’t afford to do it. It’s the reality, and it sucks, but there it is.
Hubby has just left and just informed me that he had invited everyone over here after dinner tonight. Goody, so now I get to scrub floors, vacuum and dust. I was planning on doing that tomorrow, damn it.
I’m back from the dog park. We stayed almost two hours! It’s a nice day out, but the high temps are sneaking back in. We’re supposed to get more 100°+ days this week.
We bought some bed risers and “installed” them a minute ago. I can’t sit on the bed and touch the floor! Too funny. And Lucy didn’t make it up on the bed the first time. I laughed.
We’re going to see Santana tonight!!! Should be a fun night. I’m excited!
Time to find something for lunch. Breakfast done wore off!
There are actually a lot of great programs out here to help students pay for college. The one I’m probably going to be taking advantage of is the New England Regional program. Basically, if the major you want doesn’t exist in your state, you can get reduced tuition at an out of state college that does have the program. I think it’s all state and community colleges and universities in the program. Luckily for me, the closest college to me has the program I want and my state doesn’t. So I’ll still get discounted costs at UConn even though I’m a MA resident. It’s very frustrating though because even with the regional discount, it’s still quite expensive and they don’t have a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship. Ugh. It’s very stressful thinking about transferring. Where am I going to get the funding? Where am I going to get transportation? Blech. I can’t wait til it’s all over.
The craft show in Leonardtown was really pathetic - barely a dozen booths. And most of them were selling jewelry. Sad.
Down to the basement with me now - stuff to do. I’d rather nap.
Howdy Y’all! I irked, napped and had an early dindin of steak, frggin’ good N.O.T., sallit and cheesey bread. The best part is I didn’t make this dindin. I guess this means I should show “appreciation.”
On the phone and internet front, I am switchin’ back to ATT. I called ‘em after my nappy poo cause I had to YET AGAIN reboot the cable modem as there was no phone or internet. Enough is enough. Anywho, I got a good deal with ATT and even got OYKW’s ATT bill reduced while I was at it. Ya know, gettin’ him a cheaper internet/phone bill is better than him cookin’ dindin, so maybe he should “appreciate” me. Anywho, the switch should happen sometime Tuesday. I’ll just have to plug in the ATT modem and take the cable one back to Mediacom which will be my pleasure.
And that’s the news from swampland.
Thanks for the welcome I’m happy being a nut! I’ve been one long enough…
Been busily doing nothing here, getting sick of the weather- had no summer, and now it’s autumn already… My parents are flooded out, and have a severe weather warning to come; at least we’re not that bad here yet. Is anyone just having normal weather??
Having a stressy day (warning, venting ahead!)- got up to find a letter from the allotments office saying I have 2 weeks to cultivate my entire new plot, 2 months after being told by the site rep that I’d passed this year’s inspection, and I’d got a whole year to sort it out…
I’ve been taking it easy down there, though I’ve cleared quite a bit, 'cos I did my back in in June (suspected slipped disc- still can’t walk more than a few hundred yards, and can’t exactly dig out stuff), and I thought I had til next July… Gaaah… Now have to wait until monday before I can phone them, so I’ll be worrying about it all day tomorrow. No way I can do it meself until I get better, and I just lost my job, so I can’t exactly pay anyone to do it.
Heres hoping they have nice people on the desk.
And my housemate just broke my cafetiere, which makes the bad things all worser
And the TP’s getting low.
Work went OK. I made chicken stir fry, and I’m watching football. Gordie is having a running dream.
{{{{{Filbert}}}} hope it gets better. Is the allotment where you keep your Alot?
swampy, AT&T is pretty good. Unless you move. Then they suck, because they can’t handle change.
But seriously {{bertie}} on the rest of your troubles. Hand in there and I hope the flooding eases at your parents
Had a great day just hanging out with mr ems. We had a lazy morning then we went for lunch, bought mr ems his Christmas present which is a new pair of fancy ostrich (sp???) skin boots and new jeans. The man tried on 8 pairs of jeans, some twice and bought one pair. He shops like a girl. Then we went to the farmers market and Walmart. Then I cleaned the kitchen and both bathrooms and did some laundry and mr ems vaccumed and mopped then he took a nap. There may also have some appreciating time in there as well
Supper is steaks and roasted veggies. Grill is being fired up as I type
Sorry for your troubles, Nut. Our weather has definitely not been normal this summer.
Still up. Been watching tennis online and reading. Went for a walk somewhere in the middle there.
Starting to get sleepyish.
Hugs all.

Despite the craft show being a bust, we had a nice day hanging with the kid yesterday, even if her idiot dog did pee in my house… again… With her help, we swapped love seats, so the reclining one is now in the living room and the one that matches the living room set is in the family room. **FCD **finds the recliner more comfy, especially with his back pains, so it’s good that we moved it for him.
We also finally got my countertop screwed down and I put on the last 2 pulls on the drawers. After I clean up down there today, I’ll post some pics, because I just know you’re all dying to see… Other plans for today include a run to Lowe’s and WalMart. Good times.
It’s supposed to be mostly sunny the next few days. That’ll give the lawn a chance to dry out a bit more and I can mow maybe Tues or Weds. Meanwhile, the mushroom crop continues to grow - every time I look out there, I see more fungi popping up. Stoopit rain.
Speaking of which, I’m glad I’m no longer going to work - thisis on the direct route from home to 301 and it’s the last impassible road due to the storm. All the others have been at least band-aided so they’re passable. Unfortunately, this is also the route my daughter needs to take to work, so she’s going to have to detour till they get it fixed. Who knows how long that will take… Charles county got whomped good by all the rain.
Bertie, welcome to life. Sometimes it doth well and truly suck. Hope yours gets better soon.
Meanwhile, Happy Sunday, all!
Up and caffeinated. Off to work the Friesen 5k, the off to irk.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 60 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 92. On the plus side, humidity is way low. This is how Fall comes in in south Jawja.
{{{bert}}} hope things get better soon. However, as soon as possible, do restock the tp.
Today bein’ 9/11, we have what YP is callin’ a special service of rememberance. From the description, it sounds an awful lot like Funeral Rites to me. :dubious: We shall see. Also, the Luteruns (ELCA Flavor) are joinin’ us this mornin’. Should be an interestin’ time at the church house. N.O.L. shall be at Steak ‘n Shake cause OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’. He’s buyin’, so while it would not be my first choice, I ain’t complainin’.
Oh and I had to reboot the modem twice this mornin’ to get phone and internet service. Yep, I will be glad to switch back to ATT. doggio, it has been my experience that whenever anybody moves, no matter who the service provider is, said provicer of service will become confused. It’s like, “ok, fine, you say you moved, but our system says you live in the same old place.” Poor thing. It doesn’t like movin’ anymore than we do, I guess.
Ok, now I need more caffiene and need to consider some brekkie type food substance. Plus purtification for deheathenization must ensue at some point.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
I should get an alot, maybe it’d help me keep the allotment inspector away!
The parental floods aren’t that bad, yet- it often floods a bit there, just worrying cos they have a wildlife park, and this is already about as bad as it’s been before, with a lot more rain forecast. They’re gonna have to be breaking out the animal snorkles soon… Though the beasties are normally very sensible when it comes to keeping’ out the wet, they have had 2 drown before, both of them being…
Ducks. Really.
You got any nice pics of your pots Mooom? I used to do some clay stuff, but I could never throw pots… I can centre the clay and get started perfectly, so’s it looks like I know what I’m doing, but then I just make lumpy lopsided messes.
Anyway, it’s nice and sunny right now, so I should be outside, not wearing pyjamas and sittin’ inside in the gloom! Might go try find some blackberries to pick.
**Bertie **- this link shows some of the older stuff I’ve done. Heck, it’s all older - up until class started on Tuesday, I hadn’t thrown anything in over 2 years. I’m doing my best to get rid of much of what I have left so I can start fresh - I look at some of my old things and I’m not impressed - I guess that’s a sign that I’m getting better?
I’m done reading the funnies and doing my puzzle. Time to hit the shower and put on something appropriate for going out in public. Then I need to wake my sweetie so he can take me to breakfast.
