I had a really nice time with my friends last night and even managed to win a round of 99.
I’m sorry for your troubles,** Filbert**. I hope things improve soon.
It’s supposed to be in the 90s here today. I don’t plan on doing much of anything except for hanging out there and getting some chores done. Oh, I have queue up an ad hoc on my work laptop. I completely forgot about that.
I’m both hydrating with water and drinking some wake the hell up. I didn’t have much to drink last night, but I am feeling it just a little bit today.
my WTHU is especially yummy this morning. No, I didn’t add any adult beverage to it, just something about the day I think (the weather, not the memorial)
I have a very vivid recollection of seeing miles of rescue and emergency vehicles heading west into Manhattan via the main highway.
I have to say I’ll be glad when all this 9/11 anniversary stuff is over. The whole of the media seems to have become a glurge machine. When I saw something on a TV promo about “The Dogs of 9/11” - a special about the rescue dogs, and an online article about Rosie O’Donnell’s memories of 9/11 (and I care because??) - well, it not only jumped the shark, but it chopped it up and flung it up against the wall. I resent being forced to get all weepy or “patriotic” or something lest I be branded a terrorist-sympathizer. Especially after hearing a woman on the radio who had lived thru it saying how much she hated all the to-do being made…
Wasn’t it bad enough when it happened? Must we be forced to relive it ad infinitum?? [end rant]
In the real world, we’ve had breakfast, stopped at Lowe’s and WalMart and the marina (the bilge had less than a quart of water in it, so yay!) and now we’re home chilling. I don’t feel like doing anything today, but I probably will clean up a little. The clutter is starting to get out of hand.
Maybe I’ll knit for a while.
FCM, I’m right there with you WRT to the 9/11 glurge. I will always remember, but as is usual with me, I choose to remember quietly, with a moment of silence. Kind of like all the remembrance holidays; Veterans Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Memorial Day.
Hubby is still sleeping. He was pretty lit last night and I had to drive home. That’s a rarity.
I agree with y’all about the hoopla. A friend called today “National Let’s Pick At The Scab 'til It Bleeds Day”
I agree on the 9/11 rememberance - noone will ever forget but what passes for tributes in the media has been odd in some case.
We had brekkie at home today. I made scratch cheese and black pepper biscuits and we had eggs over easy and yummy bacon we got from the farmers market yesterday. mr ems is going to fire up the grill and grill some hatch chilis, jalepenos and some tomatillos for tonights supper which is green chili and cheese grits with tilapia and roasted tomatillo sauce and a veggie of some sort.
Happy Sunday people!
They’re picking alright, but the scab healed a few years ago. They’re digging a hole through the scar.
Howdy Y’all! Deheathenated, **N.O.L.**ed and napped. Yeah, it’s been a wild day.
This mornin’s service was actually nice. It was a 9/11 Rememberance Service but nicely done. It did use some of the liturgy from the Burial Office but not all of that liturgy. The combined choirs performed a really upbeat but fitting anthem. A good way to commerate but I’m with everybody else on how much the media overdoes it. I will not watch any of the bazillions of “specials” and “documentaries” presented ad nauseum on teevee today.
I want to eat dindin at mmmmmm’s place tonight. Who’s with me?
Glad I’m not alone. I re-read the 9/11 thread, which was written before I knew the Dope existed, but which captures the feeling of the day really well, I think. Also listened to some of NPR’s coverage this morning and watched C-Span to see what things looked like, but that was quite enough.
Other than that, I’ve been watching tennis online and reading As Always, Julia, which is fascinating. I’ma go to one of the neighborhood coffeehouses to continue reading and maybe sit outside for a bit.
Hugs all.

Thank you all for affirming that I’m not alone in my opinions. **FCD **has been giving me crap about it. I never said others couldn’t remember as they wished. I just hate how the media is wallowing in recreational grief… 'nuff said.
And because I know you’ve all been waiting impatiently, here are my new colorful studio cabinets. **FCD **is going to build me a footrest shelf, then we’ll put cove molding across the entire front. He’s also going to make me 2 pull-out racks for behind the blue doors so I don’t have to keep my glazes in baskets. And eventually, the window on the left will be replaced by a french door. All we have to do is cut the concrete blocks and frame a new doorway. Easy-peasy… Anyone wanna come help?? ![]()
With that, I’m done working today. Time to chill.
oooh. pretty.
I agree!
swampy C’mon! As always I am making to much for 2 there are also some yummy biscuits left from this morning as well if you want to take some for breakfast tomorrow.
I have to drive 6 hours for a meeting in Longview tomorrow then to Shreveport then back to Dallas on Tuesday for a meeting then home then possibly fly to Houston on Wednesday morning for a meeting then back to OKC. Urgh
Obviously you are ladies of exquisite taste!
My spousal unit has been giving me all kinds of abuse about my color choices. I was just trying to use up leftovers. I was being ecologically responsible!
Thanks for the affirmation! Next project will be hand turkeys on another wall.
You need that pink phone on them as an accent.
Shiny too! ![]()
I think I forgot to say I really liked the cabinets, Mooooommmmm.
Went for a walk, read for a while, watched a movie online.
All the laid-backness seems to be helping; I’ve got a bit of a cough, but otherwise seem to be over the cold. I’m hoping I can get something done around here tomorrow.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. See ya in the next MMP.
Hugs.

Unfortunately, the pink phone is an ancient pulse dial which doesn’t work for outgoing calls when one has digital service…
Yes, I’m still up. I decided to watch Tangled while knitting, and now I’m waiting for a deodorizing cleaner to activate so I can attempt to get the cat urine odor out of our love seat - I figure if it sits overnight, it has a fighting chance. Ten more minutes, then I can apply it and head to bed.
I forgot to mention - the footrest between my cabinets will have to be painted yet another color. I have a different shade of green, or brown, or I could mix the blue and purple… decisions, decisions… ![]()
And now, off to deodorize and get to sleep. MWAH!!!
New MMP.
