OK, I give in.
I’m going to spend a week with Fierra in England too. Tickets are purchased. Love is continuing strongly.
WOO HOO - I’m on my way. I’m in Zurich, suffering through a way too long layover with 2 more hours to kill until my plane leaves for Hamburg (it’s 30 minutes late departing :(). But guess what I found on my way to the gate?
I think I’m going to have to move to another station, though, as this screen is fluttering and blurry as all heck and I can barely read it. And Oh My Gawd - where the heck are all the keys on this thing? Nothing’s where it belongs so it’s taking me forever to type this, which is only made worse by not being able to see what I’m typing. Ok, back in a few…
Aaaah, much better. So where was I? Still waiting for my plane and very anxious to see my honey (where’s the rassum frassum exclamation point??? LOL) Oh, there it is!
The flight over here sucked. 11 hours in an aisle seat where everyone who walked by kicked me or stepped on my feet. Feh. But it will be worth every agonizing moment when I see my sweetie (Hi Honey!) in just a few short hours.
And I’m now looking at the time on this computer and seeing that it looks like it’s different than the time I have my watch set for so I’d better run to my gate. will check in when I get another chance!
False alarm. Found an airport clock and checked it against my watch and I do, in fact, have the correct time (which is actually quite a bummer since it means I still have an hour and a half until I depart).
As I was about to say when I was momentarily freaked out (who here can tell I’m exhausted and a bit loopy?)…
Anthracite & Fierra, Gunslinger & Racinchikki, Montfort (Hiya, Cous’!!) & Anniz and Brynda & Rick… I hope you guys all have fabulous weeks together (how cool is it that we’re all visiting our sweethearts right around the same time as each other?).
Stoid, I don’t know how to answer your question except to say that it’s different for everyone. My sister met her husband when they were both on vacation in Mexico. She lived in Missouri and he lived in Alberta, Canada. They managed to spend enough time together, both in person and on the phone, that they felt they knew each other well enough to take the plunge and have now been married just over 4 years (or is it 5? Eeee - I can’t remember, I’m too tired). Anyway, the point is, obviously some people can make it work, while others can’t. The best advice I can give is to tell your friend to go for it. What can she lose compared to what she might gain? I know I for one have never been happier in my life in spite of the distance between us (which won’t be much in just a few hours - YAY!!!).
Ok, random thought change. This is getting curiouser and curiouser. Now that I’ve been down to my gate, I know where it is in relation to this internet stand and I can see where the planes pull up right outside the window behind me. My plane, which was originally scheduled to depart at 15:40 but now says it’s leaving at 16:10, has just pulled up to the gate and it’s only 14:45. I wonder if it’s still going to be late taking off now.
Well, I’d rather err on the side of caution, so I’ll wrap this up. Thanks again to everyone for all your kind words.
Thomas, I love you and I’ll see you soon, sweetheart
No, alas. She’s coming to the US that weekend (next weekend! A week from today!).
We’ll be in Vegas the weekend of the 21st, with the wedding tentatively scheduled for the 23rd.
Nice to see the updates, Cous, I saw that you had bumped this thread and was afraid that you were posting after you arrived, and I was going to bitch you out for that.
(In case anyone doesn’t see Anniz or I post next weekend, don’t worry, we’re doing just fine. ;))
Heh! We’re gonna be waaaaaaaaaay too busy for that, so no worries there, cous’! And congrats and best wishes on your upcoming nuptials. I’ll make sure to drink a toast to you two lovebirds that weekend!
Now, I have a serious question here. How the heck do I log OUT of this thing? It’s saved my username and password and that’s not a Good Thing. Yikes!
Shayna, go back to the board home page, the main lforums list. In the lower right corner is a logout link.
Jim
Thanks, Jim, you’re a love!
Ok, I’m due to board soon, so this will likely be my last post before I leave. Have a fun week everyone - I know I’m sure gonna!!
Have fun, Shyna!
Jim
Bye!!!
Shayna honey…sorry I missed this before you left. I am sure that at this point you are MUCH too busy to be reading threads, but just in case…
I am so happy for you and your love…I hope this time together is everything you hoped for; and much, much more. You deserve every bit of happiness you have found.
Have bunches of fun, you two!
Much Love,
Cheri
Okay, you guys.
I know your romantic interlude is over, and Shayna is back in the states. I also know that I am not the only nosy parker who wants DETAILS!!! Well, maybe I am, but…did you all have fun? [sub]okay, so that’s a given[/sub] Did you visit marvelous places? Did you ever see the outside of Spiny’s apartment?
Inquiring minds want to KNOW!!!

Living vicariously
Oh my, where to start ?
Seeing my sweetheart in the airport, after playing that event in my mind so many times - magnificent. Making love. Visiting the Dom fair. Making love. Holding hands in the Botanical Gardens. Drinking beer with Coldie until way, way too late. Finishing work early to be with my own sweet love (and Coldie, too.) Eating outdoors in a thunderstorm. Showing off my workplace and immediately being found out as having tidied it up. Buying a hairdryer that could actually operate on 220 V.
A motorcycle ride, the first half being boring because I was WAY too careful with my precious passenger. (And lost my way.) Making love. Holding hands. Realizing that Shayna just fits into my space and there’re no privacy issues about her being there. Fantastic backrubs.
Borrowing a Fiat Seicento (that’s a small car) and taking the scenic route to Denmark. Kinder eggs. Watching cute cows in the fields. Musty motel rooms. Making love.
Meeting friends and family and hashers (the last bit somewhat unplanned). Sleeping cuddled up in a small hostel bed. Making love in between visits - before breakfast - after breakfast - instead of lunch. Having dinner in my old home town. Getting comments on how lucky I am from friends and family and hashers. Silent-but-not-awkward time in the car. Giggling fits. Hugs. Kisses.
I don’t want to write about the departure and the empty apartment.
A fantastic week. I miss her so goddam much. I love that wonderful gal.
S. Norman
Cut it out with the retching sounds, already! I was asked!!
Thomas, you are so amazing!
I had the most incredible time of my life. Hamburg is beautiful, especially when seen from a romantic canal ride, strolling through a beautiful park with lush gardens and from the top of a ferris wheel at the fair.
I brought all the wrong shoes for walking (and my sweet love put up with my slowness because of them), forgot my electricity converter (and my wonderful man and Coldfire were such good sports in traipsing all over Hamburg to try to find me one) and spent way too much time primping since I had to look just right to meet his family and friends (and he waited patiently for me every day).
The cows were adorable, the lovemaking was spectacular, the motel/hostel beds were made for one, but perfect for two people in love and just plain being with him was incredible.
Coldfire was a sweetheart and drove up to Hamburg to help me get around since Thomas had to work most of the week. We lounged around, lunched at sidewalk cafes and saw museums and magnificent churches (one of which is still in ruins as a memorial after the war). Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Jasper! It was SO great having you there with us.
Thomas and I took the long way into Denmark on Thursday, where we had dinner in a quaint little village pub where the one menu item of the night was beef stew (which was delicious!), stopped at the most hideously decorated motel (1970’s style geometric patterned, brown/orange/rust furniture and carpeting, green striped curtains and blue polka dot bed covers), drove for hours trying to find a cafe for breakfast (we never did, and ended up having blunch at around noon), got lost (again), saw amazing rock carvings that were many centuries old, and of course, saw lots and lots and LOTS of cute cows (which he said I could have one of, so long as I was willing to clean up after it).
Dinner with his parents on Friday evening was lovely. They are as sweet as can be and made me feel really welcome there. Saturday was coffee with his grandmother, beer (both drunk and sprayed all over us and poured down Thomas’s pants) with his hasher friends (too fun!), coffee with his sister, brother-in-law and kids (who are completely adorable! What was that that Jacob asked you again, kæreste? Hehe - out of the mouths of babes.), then dinner with 2 more friends that night (delicious steaks and fabulous company). Sunday was more coffee with 2 more sets of friends (formal coffee service is a big tradition, it seems, in Denmark. Good thing I like coffee!), then back home to Hamburg.
In between all that activity we did manage to find plenty of time for quiet moments, hand-holding, sweet kisses, making love and laughing our asses off (see sig). I’ve never been happier. Ever.
Thank you for the most spectacular week of my life, Thomas. Jeg elsker dig meget højt. <Stort Kys> I can’t wait to see you again in October!
P.S. I hope that answered your question, Scotti, and wasn’t TMI - hehe. And thank you so much for inquiring about us. You’re such a dear friend. hugs and kisses and I can’t wait to see you in October, either!
I really appreciate your consideration in avoiding stepping on my penis - Spiny Norman

Glad to hear the 2 of you had a great time,
but then again,
I know you would.
The 2 of you are made for each other.
The disstans is hard,
I know,
but it’s worth it.
Good luck with everything.
my heart’s a bit warmer now. i’m glad to hear all went well.
now about those cows… holsteins?
great sig, shayna!
For the record: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, miss Shayna. Or that man, mr Norman, for that matter.
It was great seeing you two, and I’m glad to hear the two of you had such a great time as well - with ot without me (although probably the latter, since my presence no doubt limited the scope of activities somewhat).
I’m looking forward to October! We need a title for this trip, don’t we?
TWO HOODED WARRIORS DO CALI!
Well, it’s a start.
