Well, her speech writer certainly has the right idea for the energy crisis… Let’s vote for that guy [zoom in on script writer who looks up confused; cue theme music, roll clip of zooming along train tracks]
I have a request from a person on another board:
Anyone, anyone? Bueller?
I’m going to confuse people tomorrow.
Usually, our “casual” telecommuters will work from home once in a very blue moon because they need to be home to wait for the furnace guy or because they have a doctor appointment. I’ll be doing the opposite - instead of a regularly-scheduled telecommute day, I’ll be in the office as we have an appointment in the city tomorrow afternoon.
We’ll be working out details of our wedding plans with the fair’s operations manager (or whatever his title is!) In a classic case of email only amplifying misunderstandings, he’d gone from being OK with us having the ceremony and reception there to backing down and expressing dismay at the thought of a live TV broadcast. :dubious:
Note to everyone planning a wedding: Don’t tell anyone that you’ve invited the governor or your favorite legislative representative. They’re not going to come to your wedding, but they will send you a nice certificate commemmorating the event. There is no need for anyone associated with the venue to panic at the idea of dignitaries showing up.
Hmmmmmmmm… let me see if I have this right gotti. The fair manager wants to back off havin’ the ceremony and reception there because he’s afraid it might generate some publicity for the fair. :dubious: I know the fair wouldn’t be the focus but still, c’mon, people see this and get curious about RenFaire and go check it out maybe. And… HELLO MR. FAIR MANAGER!!! FREE publicity!
I just had an excellent patty melt from a little sammich shop that calls itself The Cookie Shop cause they’re well known for nummy cookies.
SmartiePants hee! That was actually a good video. I got a kick out of this one too.
MY SISTER HAD HER BABY THIS MORNING!
His name is Graham.
Is he the first? Is she going to have s’more?

Congrats on the auntitude!
He makes the third for that sister. I’m pretty sure she’s declared herself Done With Childbearing now.
** H O O R A Y ! **
What a lovely name!
Morning, Mumpers, rolling out of bed late on my day off. I just slept and slept. Jazzing up, waking up with some new tunes I purchased before bed last night. Well, new “old” tunes, some Gloria Gaynor, and rediscovering the cheesy awesomeness that is Kid Creole.
When I get one day all to myself (my bubby’s at work), I feel like I should be cramming all I can into it, and if I don’t, it feels like a waster day. But besides my regular errands I run on Wednesdays (like grocery shopping), I want to write more on my novel, exercise, dance to new music, go for a lovely drive along the water singing at the top of my lungs, build my terrarium, maybe go to the petstore and look for a small mammel to care for (we are missing little Ralphie, who died on the night before Christmas Eve last year). Then I might like to sit down and watch some of my anime series that I’ve never finished. Or play some more Harvest Moon DS Cute. I wanna be a farmer. And I need to clean the closet.
Also, I want to work on some new soaps… I’m not sure if I ever mentioned it here on the Dope, but I’ve begun a small business of my own, selling handmade soap. I’ve just added lotion to it, and I got a new base for some solid little perfume sticks. I’ve mostly been giving them out for free to friends, and they are raving about them and giving them to family for gifts. I started selling them at a farmer’s market in Mukilteo, and for 6 hours work, I made $70, selling them at ~$2.50-$3 a pop. Just the soaps so far, not the lotion, yet. My co-worker, the Art Student, is doing my logo and package design for me, and I’ve approved everything and we just need to go to HIS friend to get a template made and get some packaging printed up. Here are some pictures of the last batch I made of soaps, and here are the new lotions.
Realistically, though, it’s 11am, my husband gets home around 5pm, and I will make supper and become preoccupied with hanging out with him, so I’ve only got 6 hours to cram all that fun in… and I haven’t even had a shower yet!
Six hours… I wonder if… maybe I could do it?
I’M GONNA TRY!
Congrats there, Auntie Spaz!
bobbio, this one’s ALLL for you!
Nice one, swampy! snerk LOVED the side effects!
**gotti, **all due respect but your faire manager’s gots no braims…
Errr, Spaz? Duck! WHOOOOOOSH!!!
Just in case you were whooshed.
Well, my cake didn’t smell like that. ![]()
Congratulations on Baby Graham, Auntie Spaz!!
Yay for baby Graham! I think an appropriate way for spaz to celebrate would be to write us some advice column snark.
I’m slackin’. Sorta. I’ve got stuff to finish up but I’ve also got a stoopid sinus headache which makes listenin’ to all the mumblemumblemumble even more painful than usual so I’ve stopped for a while.
I think I’ll read through some threads as a diversion.
Yay for baby Graham!
{{LiLi}} The non-sleeping baby has got to be wearing you out. Here’s hoping he grows out of it soon!
Yay for SpaceDawg! Hope she continues to feel better.
That’s quite a To Do list you’ve got there, Anas! (Do we have a nickname for you? We must, but I can’t remember what.) The soaps look great. And I vote for a hamster. Our little Russian dwarf is adorable. And he eats anything: we gave him a piece of the pork we were eating for dinner last night. He’s had lamb and beef before. And all kinds of fruits and veggies. And popcorn. And I don’t remember what else. Oh pepperoni. And honey… but he doesn’t like that. He gets pretty freaked out by the stickiness. Especially since I accidentally dripped some right on his nose. That didn’t go over so well. Anyway, he’s fun.
I was pretty good about working this morning, but now I’m starting to get a case of the Don Wannas. This week hasn’t been terribly productive. Bleh.
My nick here is Shasta, I think, due to a story I told once about my old co-worker not being able to spit out Stasia.
But I so seldom get a chance to participate in the MMP threads (so tired) that I can’t remember if that was here or I dreamt it up.
ETA: I can cross “cleaned the closet” off of my list! Woohoo!
I think I’m going to buy some new shoes soon. What I need are something to go with jeans or shorts when we’re going to be walking a lot. Right now I wear sneakers, but I’d like something that looks a little nicer but is still comfortable. And something that can be worn with socks so I can wear them when we go to museums or whatever indoors and the AC is on and it’s freezing.
So, some sort of hiking boots? Nicer sneakers? Something else? Thanks!
Okay, THAT is someone I’d vote for - having a Pink House is a policy everyone can stand behind.
I’ve just got home from having my hair cut and I’m not all that impressed. Okay it was cheaper than where I normally go but when I sat down I realised that everyone in working in the place was oriental and (surprise surprise) the guy who did my hair didn’t really speak English. :smack:
Oh well, I can get it cut again in a month or so.
And yay baby Graham! Welcome to the world little man!
Shoes for taxi!
Always glad to be of help. ![]()
Yay for babies, hugs for all who need them, random smoochies and gropes just because.
Goodness - Wednesday and only page 4? We’re none too chatty this week, are we?
I got a call at work today - someone was given my resume and he wanted to know if I was still interested in moving on. I thanked him but told him since I got my new assignment, I’m very happy where I and and not looking to leave. I didn’t mention that the possibility of commuting with my sweetie would likely keep me where I am anyway. (no offer yet, but all signs seem to be really positive…)
Supper tonight will be fettucini alfredo (sauce from a jar - so sue me) fresh 'maters and cukes, mebbe steamed sugar snap peas, and chickie tits rolled in italian seasoned breadcrumbs and baked. Yum.
That’s all I’ve got. Is it Firday yet??
Not a great day…
sigh.
