In Praise Of Mumpers A Pat On The Back Mmp

Also the second cutest I ever saw.
Currently doing the CIO with visits method, which is very painful, and not my favourite thing, but if it works, it will be heaven. Deep breathing.

I’ve read nothing at all this week.

I’m back home after a fun mini-vacation.

Canned a TON of stuff with ma. I have jars and jars of chicken, strawberry jam, blueberry jam, and peach jam.

Today I made a french silk pie, and a hershey pie. Also 6 pie crusts to go in the freezer. (Can you tell I just got a pie cookbook?)

Don’t know how much I’m going to be around this week. Let me know if I missed any recipes in my absence.

Leave it to you guys, I should have known all the info I’d ever need would be right here! :stuck_out_tongue:

Swampy, I think that will be a great idea - I’m going to hold off starting the thread until I’m sure my terrarium is established, ie: doesn’t die on me in a week. Once everything looks more or less happy and healthy for a bit in there, I’ll start that thread and ask about the froggehs. And Spaz better be there!

sends virtual scritches and treats to SpaceDawg I’m sorry to hear the news, but I know she will be treated like a canine goddess for what time she’s got left with us.

Small world time. Earlier, outside the hotel on my lunch break, a guy comes up to me and asks me if I’m (Grandma’s) granddaughter. It turns out that he’s a friend of hers and she’d mentioned that I work here and he remembered seeing me from The Party that we threw for her 85th birthday. So he said hi like he’d told her he would if he saw me. I guess it’s not really all that weird, we get a lot of people from that area, but the odds of my not being here back in the office during the day were pretty slim.

I don’t know frogs. Snakes I know some about. And I do pretty well with bettas.

I wanna be an aunt! Seriously. I think it’d be fun. Not that I’m going to push my brother to procreate, but if he does, I will be thrilled. The baby is gorgous! Soooooo cute!

So today was my “day off” The person at the ENT clinic told me my doctor’s appointment was at Raleigh Neurology. I showed up there, to find it was gone. Apparently they meant Raleigh Neurology Associates. Now I have to reschedule. I go into work, and am there for 3 and a half hours, all for a 15 minute visit that could have been handles by phone/email survey(Does the new trucking company suck? yes/no). So I decide to go to Firestone and get my oil changed. Good thing, because my radiator cap died 1/2 mile from the place. I was stuck there for 4 hours waiting for a part, My A/C/ did work on the drive back(Did I metion it was 97, with a 105 heat index?), so I crashed for a nap. Then I had to go back to work. Glad my day off is over.

Rowdy would be a good name for Thrak. He just knocked over a cup of coffee onto my keyboard. If you want maid fantasy, here ya go.

{{{{{Aleq amd Himself}}}}. :frowning: Maggie Wonderbeagle got even more royal treatment her last few months.

Congrats Auntie Spaz!

Snakes, I’m jonesing so back for hockey, I’ve been going to watch
C-League games at the rink up the road. At least the beer is cheaper.

Congrats, Auntie Spaz!

Aleq, I’m so sorry to hear about the doggie. :: hugs ::

And thanks, everyone, for the hugs and good wishes, and the sharing of experiences. (Especially to rigs and Aleq - thank you.) I still feel generally blue, but it’s more bearable now. I’m just trying to take it one day at a time.

Aleq, I’m sorry to hear about SpaceDawg. Sending hugs and scritches - and lovin on the fuzzbutts a lot.

Spaz- lots of snugs to SpaceDawg…

Night folks…

The vet called this morning and left a very perky message: Keisha’s in perfect health. She’s always wanted to be an only cat, so I guess she’s going to get her wish.

I’m running out of yarn for the scarf I’m knitting for my mom. I can’t decide whether to knit to the end using a coordinating yarn, block the daylights out of it, or give her a stumpy scarf and tell her that maybe if her heart expands, the scarf will. too. I like the third option best, but I’ll probably just block the daylights out of it. If she washes it and it “shrinks”, that’s her problem. Perhaps I haven’t quite forgiven her as much as I thought!

I received a fortune cookie today: You are an ambitious person and may make a name for yourself. Yeah, right, I got your ambition right here. Somewhere. I’ll look for it tomorrow.

{skritches for SpaceDawg}
:frowning:

Aw damn, I’m so sorry about SpaceDawg. She looks like a beautiful dog.

So, we’re back a day early, but had a great time. We basically took our sweet time taking backroads to the coast and then generally winding our way down Hwy 101. We ended up stopping in Newport for the night. Today we hit the Wax Museum, the Undersea Gardens, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and touring a lighthouse and interpretive center. We had a very nice time. The fog didn’t really lift in Newport at all. Yesterday, we stopped in various places, waded in the cold ocean and generally had a good time too.

We came back a different way than we drove out, and ended up driving right by Bumbazine’s store, The Soapy Bear. I wanted to stop, but hubby wanted to get home. I would have loved to stop in and say hello. He was a very nice fellow and I liked the lotion and soaps he was kind enough to give me when we had our Swampfest.

Our poor dog was soooooooooo happy to see us. We had a 30 minutes licking, yipping and general joyous greeting from the dog. He’s refusing to let us out of his sight at the moment.

Tomorrow, I have laundry to do and then I get to pack up all over again for our trip to LaPush.

Haze, hang in there girl. We’ve got big, wide shoulders and cyber ears.

Not on the head, he’ll need it later to hold his hats.

Spaz, you know your new nephew has an instant nick, of course. But I’ll be good and refrain from using it, as I’m sure he’ll be practicing his rolleyes about it as soon as he’s old enough to start getting bombarded with it by Teh Idjits of this world.

There’s a couple Grahams at work. We would never have thought that “Graham” would be pronounced “gréim,” we wanted to pronounce it “grajám.” Anyway,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAHAM!

(Why those three colors? And why not?)

This week at work, our team is comprised of only yours truly, Heboss and Allergic-to-Paperwork-Marriage-Coworker. I’ve been playing cabbie for both of them, as I’m the only one with a car and his hotel and her flat are on my way to work. She was telling me yesterday that she’s got four weddings in the fall and that, given that at least three of the couples are Bridezilla-King Groom candidates, she’s very, very happy to be in Glasgow, it makes for a wonderful excuse! We were rolling our eyes at how people her age (late 20s) will tell her she’s living in sin while her 90+, daily-Mass grandma just sometimes says “if you ever get married proper… (whatever about having kids or a question about taxes or - in any case something that is different if you’ve had a civil-law-valid wedding)”

morning all - yes, I’m up and caffeinating at this unlikely hour to try to get in early and make up a tiny bit of what I missed yesterday when I stayed home sick again. This cold is really kicking me, as summertime ones sometimes do.

{{{{{{{{{Smartie and Space Dawg}}}}}}}}}} and extra skritches and treats for the doggie - she’s so beautiful. Aww!

Hugs and good thoughts to all who need them or even just would like them. Happy Thursday all - one more day til Firday!

(((((Smartie and SpaceDawg))))) - extra scritches all round for all the critters, I think.

Just a quick visit for me today, got to go over to the Medical School and write directions to rooms for our clueless tutors. What fun! Then it’s back to the archiving and general tidying up before Friday afternoon’s quit o’clock and holiday time!

Did I mention I’m going on holiday next week?

Yay - it’s my division’s picnic today so get to knock off a bit early and play rounders in St James’ Park. That is, of course, if it doesn’t decide to throw it down later. So, what treats should I buy from Tesco to take along…?

Morning. The night was not as bad as I feared. Got an entire four hours of sleep in a row!
Everyone’s really tired now.

Breakfast.

Wow, four hours in a row? That’s practically a whole night, isn’t it? Hope his not-sleeping hobby changes sometime soon.

Up and at 'em!

Hugs for Smartie, Himself and SpaceDawg.

Off to get ready for work…

GT

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Some keyboard keys a little sticky from last night’s deluge.

Four hours, LiLi? I guess the hammer worked, then.

Older Mumpers may remember Sadie the VunderDog, my old Boxer that moved east with us. She ended up shot full of cancer that probably started in her pancreas. We finally had her put down after she lost the ability to walk. We waited a little too long actually, because she passed the agreed upon point by about 2 weeks.

That was waaaaay sad, but she lived 11 years, which is ancient for a Boxer, and she had a new hobby of clearing the beaches of sea gulls until she couldn’t do that any more. Sadie now stands guard over our living room, in a cookie jar decorated with a lighthouse and seagulls.

Pick a point for SpaceDawg where you say it’s time, and stick to it. For us, we could see progressive paralysis, and the point was when Sadie could no longer walk. Until then, lots of butt skritches and doggie treats are in order.

Mornin’, y’all. I forgot my ID badge this morning. Could I have remembered it at the end of the driveway? Nooooo, it had to be 10 miles into my commute, so by the time I turned around, got it, and got back on the road, I was a half hour late. :smack:
