I think you guys really want it to be a post from the HLW but I just want to go on record to say that I think y’all are over-analyzing and over-invested because you want it to be so. But I think Incubus is playing everyone here and it is now a silly game for him.

Really, the least over analysis is just taking it for what it is, a take-down from his wife.

I read “appoligies” as a phonetic spelling of “apologies,” not “apologize.” But I admit you have a good point with “lengthly.” That’s pretty damning.

I have also spent way too much time thinking about this, and that sanctimonious asshole isn’t worth it, so I’m checking out now.

On the flip-side this seems like one of those events that will pass into SDMB lore and be referred to in years to come.

He is truely a wonderful man, who will take the shirt off his back for his family, he loves me with all my extra pounds (stretch marks and all), he has embraced my culture and language, he has growned in many aspects (he is still working on not being a douchebag), loves his mother and family, super smart and knowledgable (when not stroking his ego) and above all a somewhat honest man (some of the shit he put on here is complete bullshit and not a representation of him and he wanted a reaction) and when it comes to this message board…

I guess that really does explain what everyone is dealing with here. And seeing as how he’s online now, wonder how all this is working out for him?

If Incubus continues to post here (which I doubt), I predict that his next post will be a claim that he wrote the “wife” post. He’ll say, “LOL, I can’t believe you idiots fell for it,” and proudly say how meta and Andy-Kaufmanesque it was to eviscerate himself in his own post. Then he’ll add that his wife found his fake post hilarious and they shared a good laugh at our expense.

Nah, it’ll be more like:

Hey guys, you won’t believe this. I accidentally left my iPad on the bus the other day, and this fat homeless woman picked it up. Turns out I forgot to log out of the Dope, and she posted in this thread pretending to be my wife! Anyway, I finally got my iPad back today, and after wiping off the grime and self-loathing she left all over it, I thought I’d check in and see how my pit thread is going.

I must disagree. If you’ll look back in the thread, you’ll see that HMW was far more prevalent and seems to have a history related to the topic at hand. And I think it would be a great choice for the woman’s username, it says “Yes, I’m real, I acknowledge what brought me to this message board, and my husband is a douchebag”. If it turns out she’s an actual person and not just something he concocted on a whim to make himself feel better for whatever reason.

Yeah, I almost replied to this thread last night but it was kind of late so I decided I’d just wait until today…only to discover that things had gotten a lot more interesting.

FWIW I don’t think it matters that much whether post #103 was really by Incubus’s wife. Well, it should matter to him, but I doubt the rest of us will ever know for sure one way or the other. Either way I’m inclined to believe that the content was mostly accurate, if only because it’s consistent with my previous suspicions. I hope for Incubus’s sake that the post really was written by his wife, because that would mean that he has someone who both cares about him and is willing to call him on his bullshit. If he wrote it himself then that’s really, really sad, but it doesn’t seem like trolling to me – more like a bizarre coping mechanism. If that’s the case then I hope he can find a good therapist, because he needs one.

I totally missed the misspellings, great catch! I don’t see where you have anything to apologize to anyone for. If anything, Incubus needs to be asking all of us to pardon him.

I’m really surprised that he’d get himself into this so deep; I’m thinking that I may never know why… but for all I know it could be because he’s received a warning.
I’ve noticed that there has not been any other post by him in any other thread on the board since the one purportedly by HMW. I can’t help but wonder why he hasn’t come back…
