Me, I’m new, but I’m not saying much about myself right now… First I wanna ask some questions
Matt: Are you a communist? If not, what do you think about communism?
Argeable: Are you one of those kid genius types?
Shadenwawa: What programming languages do you know, and did you ever make anything good?
I think it’s so cool that Someone actually wants the details on GaWd!
My name is Sam Roza, I live in the S.F. Bay Area(San Jose actually). I work for a company called Resonate( http://www.resonate.com )and we make a software-based program that load balances(**mods take note:**SDMB could use this!). I have a decent, but thankless job, working the graveyard and watching our customers websites.
Geesh ya bunch of babies. Could I tell you some real stories.
Hello there. My name is Ultress in case you can’t read it on the left hand side of the screen. I’m a busty blonde southern smart mouth from North Carolina. I have this terrible sense of humor where I think there is something funny in every situation in life, yes that is warped but what can I say. Life is too too short to be unhappy.
I’m single/44. Why do we make that sound like some kind of social diease or something?
That’s pretty much it. I’ll be happy to answer most questions, if it’s something I don’t want to answer I’ll just ignore the question. Works for me.
Elthia - why thankyou. The webpage is a result of bored tinkering in unemployed moments - I quit my job in March to find a better one (long, dull story) and am alternating between unemployment (daytime TV! summer sunshine!) and temping work until the new one starts in August. I do get my induction training in Chicago, though, which will be only my second trip to the US.
Why politics? Erm. Got me there. I guess I wanted to do something different from what I’d learned at school. In the end it turned out to be fascinating - but then I was always more into the theoretical issues (ethics, philosophy, etc) than the current day ones. Plus, on a bad week at university I only had 9 hours of lessons, so it didn’t intrude on the more important things in life much (drinking, watching films, reading, finding new and exciting takeaways etc).
Cosmin - in a gross oversimplification, I think communism was a very nice but completely unworkable idea that took no notice of the “real” world and “real” human nature. Having said that, my European background has given me a different set of values regarding “social welfare” vs “freedoms” than many on this board have. So I keep my views to myself, more or less.
And be sure and put that juice in a plastic glass, because he likes to chew THAT too!

Well, I keep saying that if I can get one of you lovely ladies to let me nibble your earlobes, the chewing thing might go away on it’s own. But NOOOOOOOOO!
Hi, I’m SwimmingRiddles. AKA Swiddles. I’m 20, and have a mundane job working for very nice bosses. I live alone with one Siamese cat named Tiki Tiki Tembo Nosirembo Cheri Beri Ruchi Pip Peri Pembo. My website is listed below, but it hasn’t been updated in about a year. Because my job is so mundane, I post a LOT from work. Right now I am eating a delicious salad that has lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, chick peas, and sunflower seeds with Caeser salad dressing. It’s quite delightful. Welcome to The Boards.

I know C++, a wee teensy bit of Java, and VB. Mostly I work in Visual Basic nowadays, doing a bunch of front end work on top of an Oracle DB. In college I did stuff from ML to LISP junk (eww), but I don’t remember any of it. And I do lots of SQL. Lots.
Have I ever made anything good? Well that depends. I have almost always worked on stuff mostly for internal use at companies, so if it works for them, I guess its good. My best “deed” would be the software I’m writing for a non-profit organization so that they can do their annual fundraiser more easily.
Back in college I made some cool stuff, with partners usually. Graphics class turned out a final project that was a 3d OpenGL version of the old Atari 2600 game “Warlords” we called Xorlords. It was first person… Pretty fun to work on.
And SwimmingRiddles, I post lots from work too. Shhh don’t tell.
We. . .um. . .eat. Yea, we have eaten together and. . .and, um. . .talk. Oh boy, can dopers talk. Eat and talk and. . . Come on NY dopers, help me out here!
Cosmin - European as in born and raised in the UK (Essex, Surrey, Hampshire, four years at university in Edinburgh) plus a very non-European year in Australia. Currently resident in London.
I haven’t been reading much lately. I promise I wasn’t ignoring this OP.
Let’s see. I’m 22. I’ll be graduating from college (Ohio State) in December, with a degree in English. After that, I’ll be going to law school, I hope. I’ll know more about that after I take the LSAT in a month. shudder
Oh, I’m female. I hope you didn’t need to know that. I’m also quite happily engaged to Satan, also something I hope you didn’t need to know. I like kitty cats and the Buffalo Bills and Sharon Olds and cooking. My favorite stress reliever is Playstation–I’m currently attempting to beat FF8, which I’ve had since it came out but haven’t had time to really mess with on any grand scale.
That’s about it. If you want to know anyting more, feel free to ask, and I may answer.
hehehehehe…probably not, but it’s fun to tell myself that…and hear others ask Is that all you really wanted to know? I don’t get anything questions about politcal philosophies, about why we live? Well, I might just answer them anyway! No, I’m too hungry…
