Info about other Dopers

Ike just doesn’t want to eat with us, Green. I think it’s because they don’t let him bring his bird into the restaurant.

Quake player eh? I play all sorts of online games, from Quake to Rogue Spear to Tetrinet and Midtown Madness. Fun stuff, those multiplayer games.

Right now I’m trying to get thru Thief II… what a great game. So involving… has some of the best environment ever.

Hi! Welcome to the board!!

My name is Sarah and I’m from Baltimore, MD (born and raised, a city girl at heart). Right now I go to college at Frostburg State in a little college town (BIG adjustment, lemme tell ya!). I’m an English and Soc major, hoping to go to law school, since I love to debate and discuss everything (that’s why I love it here at SDMB so much!). I live in a really big dorm room with AC and an awesome roomie, but she is going to be an RA next year so I am moving into another room with my best friend, Holly. May 16th is my last day of classes!!! and then I have five finals before I can leave for Ball-mer on the 23rd (yay!!). Right now my roomie and I are watching the Golden Girls.

My favorite color is blue, I love drinking water and I hate vegetables that are green. I have the best dog ever, a golden retriever named Ollie, who gives the best doggie hugs. My parents just bought a chihuahua too, named Puccina, but I have yet to form an opinion on her. She just pees all over my stuff. My best friends are Holly, Lisa, Kenny, Lili, Gladys, Tina, Mattio, Judy and a bunch of other people up here at school. Kenny and I have been best friend for nearly 8 years.

I am writing a book right now. I have 200 pages and the entire plot figured out (I just have to write the rest). Usually I just sit down with an idea and come back to reality four hours later with thirty - fifty pages. It’s about this women who runs away from home when she is 16 and becomes a nurse. She falls in love with this man and then all this stuff happens - she gets cancer and has a child and then it becomes the child, her daughter’s, story. I hope it gets published but who knows? I think it kicks ass!!

Let’s see, what else. My computer is crappy and I want t new one - a 6 year old HP that has been updated but still sucks. I have a water frog named Lloyd, a goldfish named Baby, and a tropical fish named Hollywood (they are all named after characters from my favorite 80’s movies, wanna guess which ones??)

I am broke right now, waiting for my tax refund checks. I am working at IKEA in Baltimore this summer (hopefully) I have a few ins - three close friends work there - so it shouldn’t be a problem (I hope!).

There is one scary pic of me on the internet:

I’m the one of the left, next to the girl with her head down (She was hiding from the photographer.) Luckily, my eyebrows have grown back (don’t ask!) and I usually do not have that “Hi! I’m sarah and I am mentally retarded!” look on my face (I was laughing really hard!). My head looks so weird there, sorry about that, I have much better ones but they are not posted anywhere online.

Ok, I think I covered all the bases. Any more questions?

BTW, hope you have fun posting here!!

~Sarah

No… you cannot die… you must… not… die…

Well hello there! My name is Democritus, and I am a post-bot programmed by Vince. Vince is really cool! No really he is! At least that’s what I’m programmed to say. Anyway, nice ta meetcha! Personally, I hate working, and could live just fine doing nothing but hanging out on a sailboat drinking Pacifico’s for the rest of my life, with a little light reading like Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason and Plato’s The Republic.

Want to know anything else?

Hehe, this is prolly the most verbose reply I’ve gotten

Wow, I’d almost forgotten what doggie hugs were like. My dog is gone.

Um… I can’t? I don’t remember those names from anything. What is it?

So far I have, thanks

Shadenwawa:

I would appreciate an e-mail telling me where to find the standard tuning for a ukulele. I know with the Ike model, it is all to the key of beer, but I just bought a Soprano Uke, and don’t know where to find resources.

Sank you, I vill be here all ze veek.

Guess I’ll be next! I’m 34, single, living in southern California. Green eyes, blonde hair <eww, and I say eww because I’m normally brunette/auburn>, and I’m a tad bit short of 5’9. I have a 6 year old daughter. Real name is Michele. I have a Masters in Theater Arts. I’m currently playing Maria in The Sound of Music <yes, i know… gag… nobody at this point is gagging louder than I> I only do theater part time so I retain what is left of my sanity <shut up, Singledad>.
I’m relatively new here, but I have enjoyed reading all the posts and opinions of all the colorful people.

Where in SC GreenEyes? (generally) I’m in the ol San Fernando valley.

Oh and Mr. C, I emailed you, but for the advancement of knowledge in general, I’ll tell everyone that the tuning is A D F# B and you generally play chords with the same fingerings as a guitar, except you get different cords. Example: finger what would be a G on a guitar and get a D on a uke.

 And no, ukes don’t all go plinka-plinka, and I don’t know how to play Tiptoe Through the Tulips. Just in case anyone was thinking it. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you were closer, Mr. C, I’d say we should start a ukelele band. Ha.

Shaden…
As of next month I’ll be near Redlands, not far from the Redlands Bowl. Never been to San Fernando, but I hear its pretty nice. I’m jeaous-- you guys actually get RAIN…

Elthia,

Verbose? Why thank you…makes me wanna cry just hearing that. I’ve been told I talk way too much, and that prolly translates into my typing

Lloyd the water frog - from John Cusack’s character in Say Anything, one of my fave movies

Baby - Dirty Dancing, of course!

Hollywood - played by the imcomparabe Meshack Taylor in Manniquin and Manniquin 2. I don’t actually LIKE those movies, but the fish is pink and he needed a flamboyant name. And I love Meshak.

I’m sorry abouy your dog. :frowning:

Good luck with your move!
