I would like to send some pictures to a friend I have not seen in 35 years. However, I can’t figure out how to re-size the jpg so it doesn’t take up the whole page. I tried in Paint first, using the Stretch and Skew at 25%, which looked good as long as it was in Paint, but when I inserted it into Outlook, it blew up again.
Open your picture in Paint, since that’s what ya got.
Resize it with Stretch and Skew.
Pick File–>Save AS, and save it with a new name. (I’d just add “_small”) (Remember to save it as a .jpeg-- it will default back to .BMP)
Go back to Outlook and use Insert–>Picture. Find the renamed file.
Bob’s your Uncle.
(At least, I just went through these steps, and found Bob’s My Uncle.)
If it doesn’t work for you, consult an exorcist. Or a genealogist.
Well, I guess I don’t have an Uncle Bob. The above worked great, until I inserted it into Outlook. Then the .jpgs became nothing but a little box with an X.
open in **paint shop pro[/], if you have it (trial can be downloaded for free from the net)
open with paint shop, select the pic, go to Edit (or view, can’t remember), and click on size.
you can downsize it percentage wise (50% of original, or less if you want).
when done, go to file, select save as, and then save it in a folder easily traced.
go to your inbox, or your new email you want to send to your friend, go to insert, select insert file, and it’ll give you a browse window.
select the jpeg you want, and click on insert.
hope this works!!
Are you sending the pictures as attachments or in the body of the message? I’d strongly suggest sending plain text e-mail messages (all the time, not just for this) because not all of us can view other messages. And if you send this as attachments to a plain text message, your friend will use his own JPEG viewer that he has set up. Much simpler that way.
By the way, for a very nice, free image program, look at IrfanView.
