Hmmm…
“not night, yogi; exists”… does it mean “Davebear lives?”

Davebear is not an asshat.
I corrected the answer for ya, free of charge.
Oh! Phew! Never can tell how people are going to react to highjacks.
Isn’t this Callahan’s? And, Mei Ling? You have no idea! Hottest woman I have ever seen. Bar none.
Davebear: Wasn’t that exactly how Doc met Mei-Ling in the book (minus the girlfriend)? A very cool story!
The difficulty seems to be ramping up faster than my brain can handle, I don’t even really have a clue on.
Oh well, guess I’ll just mosy up the the Font for a God’s Blessing, carry on…
Whoa! Big time!
Sorry. It’s kind of an “in” joke. Q.E.D., BunnyLady, and I are all fans of Spider Robinson’s series of books set, more or less, in Callahan’s CrossTime Saloon. Awesome books, which I highly recommend. If you like this game, you’ll like the books. They’re the source of this game.
The highjack story refers to an actual person whom I believe Spider wove into one of the most recent books in the series. I don’t think it’s as good as the previous books, but a lot of it takes place in Key West, which is a place I love. And, it floored me when I read it and recognized the lady in question as someone I had actually seen, there. It seemed relevant, so I threw it in.
If you didn’t give it much thought, you may not have gotten the joke. The printing on her shirt was her “Mei Ling address”, a joke which Spider appropraited for the book. (And, rightly so. A pun that bad deserves recognition!) That eggregious pun, combined with her looks, instilled in me a deep, abiding, almost religious lust, if not love. The character in the book only exacerbated it.
Jeez! Correct, and “corrected”, in under four minutes! I’m clearly way out of my league, here. Thanks for the “correction”, though.
Yes, exactly! Only, Doc was quicker than I, and had gotten it before she passed by, as I recall. One of the “Great If-Only’s” of my life.
Me, too. These guys are way too good, for me. Maybe we can just hang out with Long Drink and Ralph von Wau Wau.
A toast, gentlemen! To Mei Ling; may she always be handled with care!
:flings glass into fireplace:
We need some music in this thread. Where’s Fast Eddie when you need him?
Oh, hey, now, I see! I should look into those books sometime. I’m always open to new literature.
Both my puzzles are still wide open, you know…
Where’d Chef Troy go?
Here’s mine again, slightly altered:

Also, here’s my last themed set again:
Almost there, QED. Try #2 again.
BTW: Cincinnatus was a Roman warrior who turned to farming. More than one of him would be Cincinnati.
shade, daze = Houston :smack:
Hey— came up with more.
CDs I have:
flying insect, first name of Moslem boxer; short for merchandise, crawling bug that cuts leaves; to connect two strings, moronically simplistic noise a bear makes, orange flower often found by country roads.
baby sheep, number after one; long corridor, second word of stupid kid’s show on Nickelodeon; opposite of me; metal container but used negatively; ? ; letter after A, first part of phrase meaning to realize what you should have done
First word of book by Herman Melville Hall; fun opposite of work.
(last one, I promise)
There you go. That should occupy everybody for awhile. (I understood them completely, in fact I think these are the best ones I’ve done yet) so fire away!
A belated “Well done” to Bunny. “Gullets”, BTW, refers to “craws”.
I’m still not getting anywhere with these. But, maybe if I post what I’ve tried, it will help someone else.
even the score, thrash thoroughly, fish prefix*
tie, (whip, beat, flay, flog)?, pisci?
British cans, tag term, chemical suffix, affirmative*
tins, (it, sale)?, ene?, yes
Conjunction, a Perlman; something to slam, first word clue redux*
(and, but)?, (Ron, Rhea)?; fist?, ???
Could be Andrea something, but that’s a WAG.
SDMB big shot, pitcher place; effervese, east central German city, metaphorically in winter *
Cecil?, mound; fizz, ???, (cold, dark)?
Obviously, some or all of these are wrong, as they don’t add up to anything.
I feel like a threadkiller.
You’re spot on with #3 so far, Dave. And a hint for #2: you’re thinking of the wrong sort of “can”.
I’m working on your new ones now, IThinkNot.
