iPod Touch wifi not working

I’m having some troubles with the wifi on my iPod Touch (version 3.1.3). The initial problem was that it could recognize and connect to the network (broadcast from my laptop, right next to it-- I’ve connected fine this way in the past), but I couldn’t actually access anything on the Internet through it. Following some advice I found online, I reset the network connections by going to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. Now, when I go to settings, it just tells me “No Wi-Fi” for everything I can find relating to the wifi settings.

It’s a relatively old device (second generation, I think), so something might just be worn out in it, and if so, I can just do without. But I’d really prefer to be able to fix this.

When I was having problems with my iPhone connecting to a WiFi network, the first thing I was instructed to do was reset the router (i.e., turn it off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on). I don’t know what the equivalent would be for your laptop, but I’d try that. Then power your iPod off and back on and reset your network settings again.

You can always try resetting the iPod to factory defaults, too, but make sure you have any app data backed up before you do that.
