The OP is scared and hysterical. I sympathize with the feelings of anybody who’s outraged and frightened by a vicious and brutal hate crime like this, even if it makes them overreact somewhat. But once we’ve calmed down, we all have to realize that we can’t solve these problems with shrill outcries against Muslims in general and ridiculous demands that they’ve got to eliminate all their terrorists right away or…or…or we’ll refuse to respect them as a group!!!
Definitely, we should be condemning atrocious acts like the murder of Van Gogh, and making common cause with the vast majority of Muslims who also condemn them. But reproaching all Muslims for the fact that they can’t stop every murderous nutjob whose religious fanaticism leads him to kill someone is stupid, and only increases mutual suspicion and ill-feeling.

Whilst decrying the general tone of some of the posts here there is a legitimate point trying to make its self heard over the din.
There is no question (at least here in the UK) that there is a certain censorship of criticisms of Islam (at least in it’s more outre forms). A lot of this is voluntary - people not wanting to inflame what is already a fairly heated issue. However some of it is enforced in that people won’t make the criticisms that Islam may deserve because they know that the backlash will be painful.

No, I didn’t mean to say they were all white, what I’m saying is that European cultures share alot of the same values, and is different from Muslim culture. Muslims might be progressive and moderate and thats cool, but they’re not us.
