The engagement party was everything it ought to be: great food, fantastic company, and a real melding of two groups of friends and family. By the end of the festivities, we were dancing in the front yard, and the future in-laws and friends-in-law felt just like extended family. Perfect.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 95 and sunny for the day. Plans call for deheathenization and not much else. Maybe some cee-mint pond time. We shall see.
That’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Purtification for deheathenization must also occur at some point.
It’s in the 60s and raining and they tell us today’s high will be in the 70s - what a weird summer!!!
I had a terrible time falling asleep, but I slept till 7:30! **FCD **just got up and he’s in the shower. We shall go to breakfast when he’s done and we’re both dressed. I prefer a casual lifestyle, but I still won’t go out to eat in robe and slippers.
**Butters **- you were near my old stomping grounds, altho we always lived on the other side of the St. Johns River. I don’t envy you the drive. We dragged a boat from Jax to Key West one summer - what a gawd-awful long trip that was! Safe travels!
Give her time. People do not get over their hurt feelings on our timetable, I’ve found. But it sounds like you’ve been open and apologetic, and if she really is friendly and kind, this will get better.
Have a safe trip, butters (although at this point you’re already on the road)!
Having a leisurely breakfast before working at packing up. This afternoon, I need to go to my friend’s house for more boxes, then somewhere to pick up packing paper. My niece will be here tomorrow morning for a few things and Sis is stopping later this month (her semi annual trek north) for some more. Not only do I have cartons labeled wit rooms, but with names.
Taking a studio break. I worked up quite a sweat just reconstituting clay. I wish I had a pug mill but even the cheapest are over $2K, which is a lot of money to spend to reconstitute $50 of clay. And there are no used ones on Craigslist anywhere near me, so I’ll do it manually. I’ve got a little more than half to go, but I’ve got it down to a system, so the rest should go fast. Dunno if I’ll have the energy to do any artsy work after I’m done. We shall see.
It’s supposed to rain but so far it is a cool 74 degrees and sunny outside.
I woke up too early, did some irk, then went back to bed. I haven’t eaten anything because my stomach is feeling blah today.
I’m thinking about going to the garden center today, the wildflowers aren’t doing as well as I had hoped and I want to buy some flowers. I’ll probably wait until Toosday though, since I have to go out then anyway. Other than lavender, I haven’t decided what I want.
**sari **- be a real Merrylander and plant some black-eyed susans! I want to put a bunch of them on my hill, but I need to do something about the nasty soil, first.
Taking another break. You’d think something I do mostly sitting down wouldn’t work up such a sweat, but doggone, was my face drippy! And since I’m covered in clay while I work, I can’t grab a towel and de-sweat my face without cleaning my hands first. And if I’m going to clean up, I may as well take a break and have some water. So I am. Whew!
I’ve made up 8 or 9 hunks and I think I’ve got 3 to go - maybe 2 if I make big ones. We’ll see. I think I’ve decided to make some steampunk animal figurines - I’d printed out pics of some and they’re hanging over my work table - inspiration right in my face! Dunno if I’ll get to it today, but I’ll have a go at it tomorrow for sure.
First she wants to buy a [del]pug[/del]puppy mill; now she’s making hunks.
Mooommm, iffn you wanted a hunk, you coulda just invited me down yanno.
I left the house an hour before dark:30 & we were drinking champagne by 8:15.
Came home, took a nap, & now the smoker is a smokin’.
I want some of those too FCM.
I was going to stick with purple, blue, pink, and white flowers, but I want some sunflowers, and the I’m not going to pull out the yellow day lilies. So there is going to be some yellow and orange in the garden - if I ever get to do what I want.
I wish my back didn’t hurt so bad, it really cuts into what I can get done each day.
I figure I reconstituted 15-20# of clay today. The hunks (not to be confused with **Spidey ** ) are the right consistency for working, so tomorrow, I’ll start making stuff. After I clean my work table. I was just too tired to clean. Who knew smooshing up clay could be such a sweaty chore???
I got a nice surprise when I checked our cruise reservation for October. We got the super cheap price because we let them pick our cabin for us. I figured it would be all the way forward next to the anchor locker, but it’s on the 4th deck, midships, right around the corner from the elevators and on the same deck as the main dining room! Plus, it’s a Large Interior, meaning we’ll have 9 sq ft more than a regular interior cabin. As cozy as those cabins are, 9 sq ft makes a difference. So yay!
Now to make arrangements for the critters. Ideally, we’d find someone to live in our house while we’re gone. Anyone? Anyone? October is a lovely time for a vacation near our Nation’s Capitol!! Failing that, I’m going to ask my mom to keep Higgs and we’ll have a sitter come in and tend to the cats.
Meanwhile, what to do for supper?? What should I defrost? Or order for delivery??
