It's a Moving and Grooving MMP!

I hope I’m not being presumptuous when I say that all of us currently being bitch slapped around by life and reality are very happy for you, Drae. We each aspire to what you have (well, figuratively, anyway. I don’t want to ever be a homeowner again)

**Drae! ** It’s good to see you! I’m glad things are going well for you.

Swampy, I am officially jealous. I wish I could retire.

I am at work, but just not feeling it. This week has felt incredibly long, has been incredibly busy and stressful, and, isn’t over yet. I wanted to take tomorrow off, but had to settle for a half day off.

No real plans for the weekend, other than keeping my lab mix, Brandi calm. She is terrified of fireworks. I really hate this time of year. I can’t really go anywhere because I need to stay with her and soothe her. I tried giving her some tranqs last year and they really didn’t do that much for her.

The weather is decent. Not too hot, not too cold.

No, I like baseball because it’s easy to follow, and if you go to a game, you’re outside in loverly weather. Plus the Nationals are hot this year, so it’s fun to follow a winner.

So :p.

Lunch time! I need the break.

Screw the gNats

says the Mets fan

Are they anything like black flies?
I hear you have a lot of them up there.

Is it hockey season yet?

My network computer has died. Got the black screen of death. At least it died on its own and I did not smash it. I was so close to being in a good place re vendor payments. It will just have to wait until next week now. So, the rest of the day will be long and boring. I have to stay until we close to get the inventory done since I will not be here tomorrow.

Blurf.

Taters Try a Thundershirt for Brandi. My mom got one for her Malinois rescue (she puts the high in strung, also very smart and lovable). I thought it was a load of hooie, but my mom was desperate. Daisy, her dog, would do things like hide under the bed with the cats and shake for a day. My mom got the Thudershirt, put it on her starting a few nights ahead so she wouldn’t associate it with bad things to come, and 'lo and behold the darn thing actually works. Daisy sticks close to me or my mom, but she does not turn into a freak monster. They sell them at PetSmart, PetCo, probably WaWa, definitely Amazon.

It worked so well I bought one for my scaredy cat. A year later I still haven’t gotten it on her. :stuck_out_tongue: (It’s a funny thought actually. Your cat is terrified. Grab said terrified cat and hold her still whilst strapping her into this amazing contraption. I think most of the scars have faded now…)

Movers in two days. Anyone got a match?

Go REDS!

Thank goodness the EoM/Q stuff is over.

On the home front, still packing/weeding. I need to run through the Goodwill drive-thru drop off this afternoon with yet another load of mostly books.

I’ve been thinking about one of those for Wallace, but it’s not storms or fireworks that freak him out, it’s just life in general. Although it would be nice to get him the whole two miles to the vet without him puking in the car.

We have redbugs here, too. We call them “chiggers”.

Thanks for the advice re: the Thundershirt, but I’ve already tried it and it did nothing to calm her down. :frowning: I am going to have to go the med route and talk to the vet again about something more effective. It’s sad I have to drug my dog up to keep her calm. She is otherwise a very calm and good dog. She’s affectionate and easy-going too. Fortunately, the fireworks don’t bother my Siberian Husky. He actually lies on his back in the backyard and watches the fireworks lighting up the sky.

Taters, when we first got Wallace, the vet gave him something I think was called Anxitane, which was like puppy xanax. She said it was all natural, and even took one herself before prescribing it to any dog. It did help a little, but it was back when Wallace was so batshit insane anxious that it was almost imperceptible. On a dog that is normally chill, it might be very helpful.

My dog used to be terrified of thunder, but she has become unafraid of it after five years at this address.

My dad used to have a dog who would cower when it thundered, when fireworks went off or when a Harley passed in front of the house. Otherwise, she was an even tempered animal.

ahem. You appear to have mis-spelled DODGERS.

I stopped at a different Amish farm for veggies - their corn was really funky looking. I’m sure it’s due to the weird weather we’ve been having. It tasted OK, but it looked mutant-y. I also got some more 'maters and some fresh green beans. So we had a veggie supper, including some N.O.T.-n-onions. We’s both stuffded.

There was a doe and a couple of fawns walking on our front lawn. They’ve been noshing on my lilies. Not amused… Stoopit deer.

One more day then 3-day weekend. Whew!

Howdy Y’all! Had a bzzy day at irk but it’s over and today is my Firday, so YAY! We had <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> for dindin. I had a ham ‘n cheese omelette, grits, and whole wheat toast. ‘Twas really good. Now we are at da cave. I have ribs ‘n chikin all rubbed down (that means I put seasonin’ on ‘em ya preverts!) and in da fridge. Tomorrow I fire up the smoker. The rest of the foodstuffs will be provided by others, includin’ munchies so I am makin’ nuttin’ else. YAY! Sattidy at the cee-mint pond should be fun.

Taters I have this vision of Polar on his back, beer in paw and goin’ “OOOH! AHHH!” as he watches fireworks. Fireworks are legal here unfortunately. I wonder when the first death by fireworks news story about some drunk fool who sets him/herself on fire or worse will happen.

I only use blue font in political forums.

Having five days off is WEIRD.

I am officially totally done with the thrift store, having received my final pay.

My new job starts on Wednesday, July 6.

Aside from deheathenation on Sunday afternoon, there is no place I’m expected to be at any particular time until Wednesday morning.

Down time is bizarre. Not sure what to do. Sleep, video binge, play with the Atari Flashback…
