I went for my driving test saturday and supposedly failed to yield when there wasn’t a soul or anything there. Grr.
7-seater . . . mmm:) I’ve got a suburban and an SUV among my beasts. And I’m about 20 mins away from Vienna Metro, which is not far from whatever metro stop you want.
Directions . . . http://www.mapquest.com should suit you. Beyond that I don’t know enough about UMCP to give you reliable directions, though probably one of our lovely DC/VA/MD dopers should be able to help you out.
It’s out of the way for Nacho4Sara to pick you up, so get your ass to the Grosvenor station and I’ll regale you with tales of gorgeous Swedish women as we travel up Rt. 29 to the home of your fellow misguided Redskins fan.
(My Sweden pictures came out great, as the folks in the DC Lunch Bunch will witness this Friday.)

Hey Falcon, are you sending out directions?
I praticed my parallel parking again tonight, and things are looking good, so everyone say a little prayer for me on Monday the 4th around 10 am.
If Montfort is closer, and he can pick you up, that would be cool too. I just wanted to get my grubby little paws on iampunha before everyone else. I am pretty familar with UMCP, though, since I have driven down there 3-4 times to pick up friends. I know to take Baltimore Ave. to the main entrance, where the big “M” is in the grass in the middle of the turnabout. I can easily get to Dorchester Hall, right in the middle of campus (the international dorm). Any further than that and I will need help finding my way to your dorm, punha.
Here’s hoping I see ya’ll!
RTFirefly, weirddave, pldennison - I am dying to meet (or re-meet out of my work uniform) you guys, so RSVP!
Looking forward to seeing you there, weirddave.
Ah, Sara, I don’t go to UMCP. I go to GMU. Bit of a difference, and probably out of your way.
But I appreciate the whole grubby paw thing. Just make sure yer hands are clean. Beside which, I don’t think there’ll be any competition for me at Falcon’s place. I don’t like cats that much, and she’s too old for me:D
Just sent the directions to everyone. If they confuse the hell outta you, lemme know.
And Paddy? C’mere. whap
Thanks Falcon!
Oops iampunha…I was a tad confused. Hope to see you there anyway.
BTW, I am allergic to cats, so I will have to take some serious medication that might affect my ability to speak coherently (and I might fall asleep) but I’ma coming, hell or high water!
I’ll be there, unless band business prevents it. Might have a gig that night. I don’t live in Columbia anymore, but I still work there (Apple Ford, actually, Snowden River & 175). But it’s only 10-15 minutes from my place in Catonsville.

It’ll be from 1 to like 7ish, so hopefully you could stop by for a bit. If not, then we HAVE to do lunch sometime.
So it looks like Montfort is picking me up from Grosvenor . . . around 12?
And I promise, on behalf of all of us dopers, not to do evil things to you like they did to John Corrado the last two times he fell asleep. Beside which, I’ll be a bumbling idiot as well, so it won’t be quite as noticeable.
I’ll be there - have cribbage board, will travel!
Of course, I’ll be watching the games intently too - that weekend’s round 2 of the fantasy football playoffs!
Jacki may or may not come with…depends on her mood, how much sleep she’s gotten lately, the alignment of the planets…women are even more inscrutable than cats, sometimes.
Trust me, Sara, I have absolutely no intentions on putting my grubby little paws on any Dopers for the next month or so. He’s all yours.
And, punny, noon sounds fine. Bring a good book to read on the Metro. When you get out of the Grosvenor station, exit to the left (the right is a pedestrian tunnel under Rockville Pike) and go past the bus lane to the car lane. Look for my green VW Golf.
FTR, the last time I saw John Corrado fall asleep, he was in bed with Satan.
F.T.R. Anyone wishing to get their paws on me will please UNGRUBBIFY His or Her paws before touching me. Thanks;)
Anyway. I have a “one woman’s struggle to” that’s . . . several pages long. And a book of James Herriot.
Gonna be tough . . . I also play cribbage, but I love football. Maybe I’ll be able to get in a game in between halves or something.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go primp. First time meeting a doper less than six years my senior.
Paddy -
You have to primp for a WEEK for this??? Sheesh. (Please remember this is the 10th, y’all…you show up at my place at 12:30 this weekend, I’ll be in a bathrobe and slippers, recovering from a party.)
Well, sure. It’s not every day you meet someone your age who A. isn’t a Navy fan and B. doesn’t like cats. I mean, what more can a guy ask for?
And Amy, I don’t think we want to know about the orgy you’re having with the LBMB people.
Paddy, you just earned a real life smack with that comment.
And get ready for Army to LOSE, hon!
They’ll lose at some point . . . just not this year.
[J.O.K.E.]
And you go ahead and smack me. Watch what I do to you. Or rather, sit in a pool of blood and . . . relax, relax, relax . . . no, the doctor told me to stop imagining people with their limbs severed.
I will get better;)[/J.O.K.E.]
You know you want to smack me. Square in the lips.
And if the author might quote you, “WHAP!!!”
What time do y’all meet on Fridays? I can make it, this week!
Just thought I’d remind folks.
And a question? If anyone would wanna bring food, that would be great. I’m planning on getting pizza for everyone. And oh hell…I need to find a liquor store before Sunday. ARGH!
Nacho: How’d the driving test go???
Olent: You get that kitchen pass yet?
