Tried to nap but Monkey was crawling all over me, plus I got this crazy idea to take a walk.
I did! Felt good to get fresh air and stretch my legs a bit, even if the walk wasn’t very far or very fast.
My neighborhood isn’t, ah, too picturesque (saw a pregnancy test box on the sidewalk - stay classy, hon!) but I was greeted by a very young boy who popped his head out the front door and gave me a cheerful “hello!” then asked my name. We introduced ourselves, I wished him a nice day, and walked off feeling better than I have in a long time.
Noticed acorns are already dropping everywhere and my ASF like gnawing on then. What the hell, not much else to do - will head out after this snack of cheese and crackers (see I’m eating!) - with a paper bag and go collect some. It’s a nice, soothing activity.
Went to Costco this morning. Wifey decided she wants one of those big chrome storage racks in the kitchen and Costco still sells them according to the innerwebz, but just not in the stores any more. We have to order one and have it delivered to the store of our choice, I guess.
While we were there we got another big pack of TP and some other stuffs, like the Korean BBQ pork jerky we love, so it wasn’t a wasted trip.
We’re back now. Wifey has gone to have lunch with a friend. I’m going to go to BiMart to see about a deer block, (she feeds the deer that sleep under our deck and poop all over the yard) and suet (she also feeds the birds, who poop all over everything). That’s okay. I also need some more bungee cords. Then I’m off to Freddy’s for dog food and other foodstuffs.
Shoe, take care of yourself.
Everybody else, you too!
Mom, FCD can build a full rollcage onto Roxy’s race car. You won’t get that from some chintzy store bought thing.
Operation Acorn Collection was a success, and the rats are gnawing on their new treats while the cats roll in some fresh catnip & make fools of themselves.
Howdy Y’all! We got haircuts and achieved nappage whilst honin’ our sloth skills. We intend to be world class slothers. Sup has been et and the kitchen is all cleanded up even. Back to work on the sloth skills then!
shoe good to know you are doin’ things to take care of yourself like eating and such. Glad the ratties are enjoyin’ the acorns (they’re not just for tree rats anymore!) and the kitties are enjoyin’ the catnip.
BooFae enjoy the day off. Deal with the OH as best you can. I’m with sunny, have a beerverage for me, as well. Have one for each of us, not one for both of us. No fun in that!
sari glad the extra snooze was good. Bein’ a layabout can be a good thing!
I’ve ordered a bunch of these and Costco will send them to your house instead of the store. They’ve been very useful. We’ve got a bunch in the garage and I have a few in my sewing room/office. They have all kinds of sizes and shapes. 5 stars from us.
shoe, shoe, shoe, I’m so sorry you had to have an ambulance trip to the hospital. I guess it was a badly needed wake-up call, and I’m relieved you’re eating and drinking. Still, I can’t help thinking that the main issue is that you get the ol’ anxiety-depression that makes eating and drinking seem impossible. I hope you get that taken care of, too. After all, we cannot do without our shoe.
Thank you, sweet MetalMouse, but that’s not gonna happen. This type of contact isn’t supposed to be uncomfortable–It wasn’t before. I have a long, ugly history of corneal graft rejection, and irritation makes it more likely, so I’m reluctant to wake that beast. If I can get in to see the optometrist, I’ll put in the lens so she can see what’s wrong.
I think I’ll walk to the store today and get some ingredients to bake cookies. I want to give some to my new neighbors and also the maintenance guy who’s been so slammed lately. So many people get taken for granted, and that bothers me.
Sari, glad you took Uncle Swampy’s advice and got more shut-eye. I bet you’re more productive because of it.
BooFae, I guess TPTB mean well, but it sounds like they’re actually stressing you out more. I’d bring you some cookies if they wouldn’t get soggy on the way over.
I love picking up Roxy -she’s so excited when she sees me! Her mama got home just before FCD showed up, and we all went to Texas Roadhouse for supper. It was good and I ate too much.
Afterwards, FCD came home and I took my daughter to Target because she needed milk. While there, Roxy said she needed the bathroom, and when done, she yelled across the store “I went poop in the potty!!” Huzzah and huzzah!! I dropped them off and now I’m home, about to assume the position with my knitting. Chillage shall ensue.
The windows are all open - we’re promised a nice, cool evening. Yay!!
shoe glad to hear you’re doing better. Take care of yourself.
As for me, clients are being annoying. Keep adding new shit to do, “oh hey, can you figure out how to hang a 36 bottle wine rack on this fake brick wall?”, but I suppose more work is good. But it’s preventing me from getting stuff done for other clients.
No Sox game tonight, so I shall ponder dinner and some quality chillage.
shoe, your trip to the horsepistol was some scary stuff. Glad you’re practicing some self care.
Yay for RoxStar’s potty awareness Mooooooom!
That was sweet of you to think of your maintenance guy nellie. One of the things my dad told me when I took my first position of leadership was take care of your maintenance guys (he was in maintenance and machine repair in a machine shop for a lot of years). Not only was it a nice thing to do, but it paid off in spades. I even have extended it to IT peeps in the irkplace (they keep you running too).
Heathen that I am, I like Christmas too. I’ve been known to enjoy midnight mass (great show in most churches), along with other trappings of the winter solstice season, whatever the celebration is. Kind of like Tim Minchin’s White Wine in the Sun .
I, too, took a nap after irk today. Glad it’s now the weekend. It’s supposed to be cold again tonight but warm up for the following few days.
It is FINALLY fall here in Northern Virginia, and I couldn’t be happier!
I haven’t been able to find Cheerios cereal cups in either the stores or online in a while now. Other cereal cups are available, and there are plenty of boxed Cheerios (which I’ve bought as they’re better than no Cheerios). There also haven’t been any sugar-free popsicles, either in the stores or online. Those are the only two things I’ve noticed.
shoe, bone broth is apparently going to be one of the things I practically live on after surgery: what’s the brand of the instant soup that you liked?
Yesterday morning I had my endoscopy consult: the procedure has been scheduled for 10/19. At first I was dismayed that it couldn’t happen sooner, but at least it’s less than a month away. If insurance cooperates, it’s not out of the question that I could still have my surgery before Halloween. There isn’t really any hurry, I’m just so ready to stop taking my diabetes meds (especially the nightly insulin injection) — and I’m really hoping to be feeling good enough to do some Black Friday shopping with my bestie and her SIL. Anyway, I have a stress test on Monday afternoon then the endoscopy next month, and those are the last two tests!
My new hire got approved by our customer and has a start date, which is great, but I learned (when he told me) that he’s an anti-vaxxer. Ugh. Hopefully he will be a great employee, and hopefully a year from now it won’t matter at all, but I have to admit that this has colored my opinion of him. I guess we’ll see. I’m suddenly kind of glad that we don’t plan to ever stop letting people telework…heh.
My dog’s nickname today is Sneezy. I don’t know what’s going on; I’ve never seen her sneeze like this! It isn’t constant, but sort of frequent whenever she’s awake. I hope she doesn’t have a doggy cold. I have to call the vet tomorrow anyway to make an appointment for her annual exam: if she’s still sneezing her head off, I’ll mention it.
Evening all. Soccer has been practiced with the 7-year old girls, they did fine, a couple of them had the “zoomies” and were hard to corral, while another was mad at her dad (who also is my Assistant Coach) and was not into things. But all in all they did well. Came home to a Cheeburger for dinner, it’s 58F outside so the AC will stay off; now the question is when the heat goes on…
Oopsie, if you have to work with an anti-vaxer, over a computer terminal is the best way. Hope the nose itch goes away for the pupper…
FCM, I wonder if the daycare (and perhaps some peer pressure) is helping on the potty training. Anyway Yeah! for Roxy.
nellie, I see; then get after that Doc and get it right! And good on you for thinking of the maintenance folk.
shoe, walks are something I should do more of. And good move on the acorns; free treats!
OK, going to watch some tackleball here in a bit and so into the night. All y’all take care.
My trip to the store got delayed due to phone calls, so I’m making cookies tonight and will give them away tomorrow.
I forgot to tell you about my strange experience yesterday. I was walking down the street when I heard very loud space age music. You know the music played during cheesy 1950s movies when a space alien or flying saucer showed up? That kind. And by “very loud,” I mean I could easily hear it three blocks away. I couldn’t see past the trees surrounding that lot, but there were a lot of cars parked on that street. I wanted to shout, “Gort! Klaatu barata nikto!” but they probably wouldn’t have heard me.
I got a call from the eye clinic: Doc says do NOT wear that contact. (I wasn’t about to.) I have an appointment on 10/1 and am to bring it with me.
Mooooom, I bet there wasn’t a mom in that store who didn’t cheer. It won’t be long now until Roxy is fully trained.
Oopsie, I hope your pup is OK. Could there be something in her nose causing this?
My daughter said her teachers noticed that her problem time was between 11 and 1, so they send her to the bathroom every 30 minutes during that time. Things seem to be getting better. The worry now is whether she’ll regress when her brother shows up.
Speaking of whom, the little booger is currently breech. If he hasn’t flipped in the next 4 weeks, they’ll discuss a c-section. In some ways, that would be good. They don’t want any more kids, so she’d get the factory shut down at the same time. Either way, we shall see next month.
Heck, I’m surprised you all didn’t hear me grandma cheer all the way from the wind swept prairies of Nebraska!
@purplehorseshoe~my housemate human is gone for two weeks and I just knew I wouldn’t make real food from scratch for myself so I hit up Tader Joe’s for cheap but fun easy meals, burritos, tamales, hummus+naan, chicken/apple sausage, frozen lasagna. All nuke and eat. Worked well so far. Today I went to my local regional super market and added some on-sale Stouffers entrees, some Michelina’s 99cent cheap thrills to get me through the next week. I was soooo virtuous~bought 4 pretty pears and four new crop apples too. Microwave here we come!, followed by the leisurely noshing on fresh fruit, at least one a day. It has to be real quick and easy or it doesn’t happen. I select for price for enough grams of protein a day. Us womenfolk need about 45 gams of protein a day, so 12-15gms a serving is what I hunt for. Chocolate doesn’t count but I tend to get my MDR of that a day easily. Here’s some {{{{{ shoe }}}} too. Lots more where those came from.
It’s “LONO LIFE” and the chicken version is in a big yellow cup with red writing. IIRC there were other flavors. Found at Meijer. Local Wal-Mart doesn’t carry it.
the most notable thing i did today was save a bag of potatoes from a bug infestation and discovered honey crisps are the apples I didn’t know I’ve waited all my life to eat
My daughter loves honey crisp apples. Me, not so much. Lately, my apple of choice is Gala. Or Fuji.
FCD has therapy this morning and he doesn’t want me to take him. I’ve got a couple of small mums to plant and I think I’ll go ahead and yank up what’s left of my veggie patch. Plus I want to fling some grass seed in some of the bare areas - this is supposedly the best time of year to seed hereabouts.
It’s 54° - definitely a fall morning. Humidity is down and abundant sunshine is promised. And tomorrow, we take Roxy to the county fair! No luck finding a local scooter, so FCD won’t be going with us. Altho even if he could scoot, he still tires pretty fast - pain takes a lot out of a body.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out (there might be an iceberg in the cee-mint pond!) and clear with a predicted high of 83 and N.O.S. for the day. One of the nice things about False Fall is the humidity is way down. However, upper 80s temps will be back next week, as Summer ain’t through yet in these parts. No real biggie plans for the day. I shall go over to the church house to deal with a couple of non church janitor JW things in prep for Sunday as I shall verge this Sunday. Don’t know what sup will be yet, but it will involve takeout. I got a little bit of a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for Popeye’s chikin, so maybe that.
Nellie glad you have an appointment to see about that contact. Also, yay for you for makin’ cookies for the neighbors and the maintenance folk! Glad the aliens didn’t get ya.
MOOOOOOM Sounds like Roxstar has the potential to be a world class TMI champ!
Oopsie sounds like you won’t have to have close contact with the anti-vaxxer, so there’s that. Also, hope doggie is less sneezy today, bless her heart. Yay for surgery date!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. However, since 'tis very likely I will be the only one around, I suppose I don’t have to look that good.
