It's Freakin' HOT Outside!

Jesus, it’s like a blast furnace out there. One part of Bangkok reached an unofficial 41 degrees Celsius the other day. That’s about 106 degrees Fahrenheit! Same every day now.

We had some very unseasonal heavy rains a couple of weeks ago that helped a little, but those are gone, and now we’re broiling.

How’s it where you are?

It was fucking freezing yesterday, today was okay, and tomorrow it’s supposed to be 81. Spring in the Midwest.

I have finals, so of course I have to spend all of my time indoors, writing some goddamn paper and studying goddamn statistics. God fucking damn it.

ETA: I specifically remember a period in the summer of 2007 when it was in the 40s in my village in Bulgaria. We had an electronic clock in our town square and I would watch the decimals go up and down. 40.7. 41.2. 41.5. It was like hell.

I heard it was 101º down in Santa Ana the other day. I’m glad I’m out of Southern California! (How quickly I forget the chill of Winter!)

Today it was mostly cloudy, with several sun breaks. Temperature was around 12ºC. It will be a little chilly tonight, but not freezing.

Global Warming.

See? SEE!?

Last week I spent some days in Laos, near the border with Cambodia in a shack with no electricity (no AC or even a miserable fan) by the Mekong river. I can say that it was quite hotter and more humid than now, don’t know how much but after that it’s almost refreshing to be outside…

Which reminds me I have to go out to buy lunch.

It’s warming up in Edmonton-- by which I mean that most of the snow has melted. It was just above zero today, but we’ve had a few days in the mid-teens this week.

I don’t envy the folks in Bangkok. I was there in '01; when I arrived I noticed that the air was very warm and humid and had an earthy smell, like in a greenhouse. I figured that it would be uncomfortably hot for me, but I could tough it out for two weeks. Then I exited the air-conditioned airport.

It was pushing 100 in The Valley all this week…until today, when it barely got over 65.

L.A. weather in April is so bipolar.

Where I am it seems like it is unseasonably cool

Temperatures have been over 100 F in central Arizona although humidity has been below 15%. That is about 15 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.

Temperatures in Southern Maine have been ranging from the low forties to high sixties over the past few days, it’s been on the coolish side this season, which is fine by me, give me cold weather any day

to quote the Rifftrax for “The Day After Tomorrow” here…
"What’s happening here is basically ‘Global Minnesota’ "

It is chilly here in NYC, but not so much so that you need a coat or anything. I am loving this spring weather and I am not looking forward to days in the high 90’s this summer. I moved away from TX to get away from the heat and it apparently followed me up here.

Got in the car (after scraping the windows) at 6:40 and it was 35. Came out of breakfast at 8:45 and it was 54. I’ve heard it’s going up to 90 today.

Something’s just not right about that.

I’m in Florida, and it’s really starting to get warm out. Just went for a ten-minute walk outside and came back sticky and sweaty. This is nothing, however; just wait until June when it starts getting really muggy, and you can actually feel your brain being cooked inside your head.

I am so not going to make it through summer.

I’ll be in New Orleans in mid-June.

I live in Minnesota. What is this “HOT” terminology I’m hearing of? I’m only familiar with 108 degrees below zero, followed by lukewarm temperatures in swamp-like humidity.

I envy you (well most of the year I don’t, but right about now I do). At least your weather is predictable. Like KGS said, it was brutal in LA this last weekend and now it’s back to light jacket weather.

I don’t mind either heat or cold, but I wish it would pick one and stick with if for a few weeks.

Oh, I know all about LA. I lived there for twenty-something years. Don’t boohoo me about a few days of see-saw weather, or “cold.” Southern Califonia weather is, for the most part, predictable. Sunny. Warm. Maybe a gust of wind every now and again.

Why did I move here again?

I enjoy complaining about our “weather” it pisses the whole rest of the country right off.

One of the main reasons my wife is going crazy and wants to leave southern california is because the weather is so much the same all the time. She says time goes by faster here because you don’t have real seasons to mark things by.

I don’t like it much higher than 60 so I’d be complaining right with you. In our house growing up, you were allowed to complain about cold or heat but not both. I decided on heat a long long time ago. And I never complain about -20 up here; I may remark on it but am always happy to not be hot.

95 today in Columbia. It’s very rare to go above 90 until May here.
