On the return trip from Oklahoma, an attractive young Mexican woman, or perhaps Indian or some combination of the two, cashier at a truck stop, asked where I was from and going, and wished me a blessed day and a happy night.
I wonder if she was a very religious person or a prostitute.
I saw no evidence of green weenies at the truck stop, but the men’s room was ankle deep in toilet paper.
Oh, I asked Perseus the cat if she missed us for three days, and she replied, “Were you gone?”
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83 and sunny for the day. This mornin’ I shall assist with mowage over to the church house followed by a cook out to celebrate the end of mowin’ season. This evenin’ folks are comin’ to da cave for bbq. Gonna be a bzzy bear!
Yeah, I stole this. I see no copyright, So There!
I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I suppose I should make myself somewhat presentable to be in public.
Just to make it perfectly clear - I’m tired of coughing. It is not fun. Last night, I was afghaning and watching TV, and I missed whole chunks of dialog because I was apparently trying to hack up a lung. Same deal when I went to bed. And when I woke up. Cough drops are temporary help. Here’s hoping this weekend is the end of it. I know I’m driving my coworkers crazy, despite cramming a handful of tissues against my face to muffle the noise. ugh.
Good morning, anyway! I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer that’ll be ready to go out shortly. After that, there’s a load of shirts/socks/assorted colored items that will be hung out. Finally, a load of unders which will go in the dryer because it takes too long and too much space to hang out all the drawers and bras and socks and other white items. So, that’s my laundry day. Beyond that, no real plans.
I’ve had some leftover pizza and a diet coke for breakfast. My sweetie is still abed - I probably kept him awake too long with my disease (which he gave to me in the first place.
Oh, interesting tidbit - turns out one of my drafting coworkers was fired by FCD when he was a boss man - he said the guy is dedicated to doing the absolute minimum possible. I haven’t had to deal with him professionally, but he came over to talk to me and I wasn’t much impressed. He seemed nice enough, but not to swift…
You shoot at a cardboard target with a shotgun from about 120 feet. Whoever has a pellet closest to the X in the center wins either a frozen turkey or a ham, depending on the rounds entered. Oh, and since swampy accused me of choking a turkey over on FB, a choke is a device used to control the spread of the pellets. My gun was set for a wide pattern, and most of the others used a tight one. The tighter the pattern, the better odds of hitting the X.
I’ve had a bad cough lately myself. Yeah, it’s getting old. I can manage OK during the day for the most part, but I keep waking myself up at night with bursts of coughing. Ugh is putting it mildly.
First day in the new department (yes, I’m still a lead, just in a different part of the store). I’m not nuts about closing one day and opening the next, but since my supervisor is doing the same turnaround today himself, I don’t think I can legitimately grumble too much.
Breakfasting and caffeinating. Kind of a slow weekend planned. The usual chores plus reversing the closets for autumn and winter. I can dig the polo shirts out if we have a warm day.
BLURF. Happy Halloween everyone! I am up and about to get ready to head into KW to run the shuttle. We start running at 4pm so I will get there by 230ish to issue cash to each driver for the purpose of making change. Then I will just hang at my office keeping the place open so riders can use the facilities. We take a break for supper at 8 and back at it around 930. At that time I take a folding chair and sit on the pick up corner downtown directing folks to the correct bus, checking ID’s, directing.
At 2 am, the second one , I will board a bus and we make one last trip to pick up any stragglers. Then back to base, lock money in the safe and get home around 4 am. I will be worn out tomorrow
NPR reports 200 deaths in the crash of a Russian plane in Egypt.
"“The plane split into two, a small part on the tail end that burned and a larger part that crashed into a rock. We have extracted at least 100 bodies and the rest are still inside.”
The officer adds, “We are hearing a lot of telephones ringing, most likely belonging to the victims, and security forces are collecting them and putting them into a bag.”"
Which is better than being accused of choking a different avian.
Raced this morning; came home with hardware, lots of hardware (technically, too much hardware).
On the way to the race, I drove over the hill & see a PD car up ahead with, on the shoulder, with it’s lights on. As I get closer I can see he’s got a box truck pulled over. As I get even closer, I can see the logo on the truck…Krispy Kreme.
I wonder did the driver do something wrong…or was the cop just hungry?
Howdy Y’all! Home from chore day over to the church house. We did not mow cause, well, the grass did not need mowage. However, we got a burn permit to burn all the little limbs and scraggly stuff so that got accomplished. Plus, we had a wood splitter to split up a bunch of the larger limbs and stuff. Also, we “rolled” a bunch of pee-kahns. Plus, da bear grilled up a bunch of brats (the sausage not the child kind) and bubba burgers. I also chopped onions and peeled ‘maters for fixin’s. ‘Twas a good mornin’ for chores with a good crowd followed by a good N.O.L. Now I get to deal with gettin’ ready for company tonight. However, since bakin’ up the beans and warmin’ up the <snerk> butt! <snerk> is all that’s needed, nappage shall also occur. Da bear is tahrd!
Butters good luck today!
flytrap that’s awful! I feel so for the victims of the crash and their families.
Did two youth soccer games (one as center official and one as the sideline officlal and have one more this afternoon. No rain this am, but a lot is expected in the PM, so it will be a damp and soggy referee that straggles back indoors about 4PM today. Think I pulled a muscle in my thigh, something is twinging back there.
spidey, what do you race? ANd we have a Krispy Kreme store here in Huntsville that makes piping hot glazed donits…mmmmmm donuts…road trip!!
flytrap, it seems like commercial air travel hasn’t had that many bad crashes recently; I’m sorry to hear about this one.
butters, do you have some security around there? If that transport comes to a sizable pile of dough, I’d take some extra precautions…
FCM, how do you make crayons (I presume there is some type of mold involved?)
I have several silicone molds that I fill with crayon pieces, then melt and cool. I’ve got dinosaurs, misc. animals, flowers, and sea creatures. A set of 6 assorted sells for $3. That more than covers the crayons since I got them for cheap during back-to-school sales, but the silicone molds have yet to be paid off. Oh well, it’s not like I’m in it for the money - I just like making stuff that people will buy. If I cover my costs, anything above that is fun money.
We just went to DQ - today is BOGO for peanut buster parfaits, as well as a couple of other things. So we got 2 for 1. Yay!! Meatloaf for supper - sides TBD. Laundry comes down in an hour, and it still hasn’t hit 60° here yet. Guess summer really is over.
