Regarding the cell phones, I’m assuming the phones will eventually be returned to the families of the deceased - is it the use of the term “trash bag” that has people all bent out of shape? Are they assuming that the authorities will just toss everything? Seriously? People are idiots…
I’ve reset 4 clocks. The rest will be done later. Higgs woke us at 5, which was really 4. She wouldn’t settle down in bed so I assumed the position on the recliner, letting **FCD **sleep in. He’s still sleeping, she’s been fed and let out, I dozed a bit, but I expect to be exhausted come bed time.
It’s raining a little, which explains why it’s so dreary out. Big plans for today include running the vacuum, sorting and organizing my yarn stash, and convincing my daughter to spend her last night in town with her least favorite aunt who just happens to live 5 minutes from the airport. When I made this flight reservation for her, I wasn’t expecting to be working. BWI is 90 minutes from us or close to 2 hours from work, so I wouldn’t even be able to put in half a day. Anyway, she’s not a spoiled bratty kid, so this should work out. I hope.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out, dreary and rainy, with a predicted high of 83 for the day with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted late mornin’ through the evenin’ and into tomorrow. ICK!
Today is All Saints Day. ‘Tis also first Sunday brunch over to the church house. In addition, YP will be baptizing his son this mornin’. Big day. I have bbq and slaw to take for brunch. However, I’d really rather not stay. I shall discuss with OYKW and unless he wants to stay, we shall skip out after deheathenization. Bein’ in da cave on a dreary, rainy Sunday afternoon sounds right appealin’.
Butters glad the shuttle came off without a hitch.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy is demandin’ sustenance. Then, purtification for deheathenization needs to commence I reckon. Should be a crowd today so we need to get there a little early to claim “our pew.”
Since I left y’all on pins and needles awaitin’ the outcome of this, I am pleased to let everyone know the decision to skip brunch has been made. You may all rest easy now that the cliffhanger has been resolved.
It is the thought of hundreds of people seeing the news, and calling cell phones that just ring and ring, and a pile/sack/bag/box of them, never to be answered.
I imagine they will be used to identify bodies, and help relatives identify them as well.
No trick-or-treaters for us, I took a nap and slept longer than anticipated. The house stayed dark and we don’t decorate anyway. Unless the neighbor did, sometimes she decorates our side too. I really should go out my front door more often.
However, the big question is - whatever will I do with all this chocolate?
Bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, I woke up hungry this morning.
**flytrap **- I didn’t aim my comment at you - more triggered by swampy’s comment about RO. It always amazes me how many people go out of their way to be offended by things that aren’t offensive. But, yeah, a phone ringing and ringing and ringing is too sad. Surely the rescuers turned the phones off.
Back from breakfast. Higgs has been bathed with a skin-soothing shampoo. **FCD **is on the computer, completing a project for his dad. I’m about to dump all my yarn on the bed and start sorting it. Good times.
Still raining and dreary outside. Looks like November.
{{{rosie}}} Hope your back and the Mets get better.
{{{flytrap}}}, I’m sorry this is hittingyou so hard.
Moooom, Higgs will likely take a week or so to get her body clock adjusted. Just like some of us humans.
I plan on heading to Possum Holler to do a little hiking and take some pictures of the fall colors. After that, I think I’ll try my handat making an embossing folder in the studio to expand my tool selection.
Morning all. Remembered just before heading off to bed to reset all my clocks, so time is on my side…
Woke up with a very achy right knee, due to excess running in the soccer games yesterday. Was worried because I am due to ref the U10 Boys championship game at 2:15 and with no assistant refs, I’ll be in constant motion. Seems to be loosening up, though, so hopefully I’ll make it.
Otherwise just a morning to wander about the internet interspersed with bathing and Sunday-paper-reading.
My yarn stash has been sorted. I tossed a lot of scraps and separated some specialty yarns that won’t work with the rest. There will be many afghans and shawls in my future.
It’s the start of NaNoWriMo, which I am doing this year! More coffee is always needed…
After the initial burst of kiddos, things faded. I have huge amounts of candy left. Should’ve left the bowl in the driveway like last year. That worked a treat.
Flytrap what type of aquarium do you have? What kind of rock did you get?
During the Golden Age when most of the houses around us had kids and participated, we had better than 300. That had dropped to maybe 75-100 the last few years; mostly “commuters” from some of the seriously bad areas around us. Yesterday was maybe 35-40. Only 4 houses on my block participated and all of us were in a cluster or it could have been worse. I didn’t get to put out the bubble-foggers this year and I’m sure that hurt some and the shooting really did have locals mostly locking their doors but it was a disappointment. We go chips and nuts so leftovers can be used in lunches but we were still overstocked to the point that I was giving doubles and triples most of the night and still have like 75 bags left over.
Howdy Y’all! All deheathenated and have had N.O.L. I have also put a beast roast in the slow cooker. In a while I shall add some N.O.T. and baby carrots. This will be the basis for dindin tomorrow and another night this next week. A dreary, rainy day seems a good time to slow roast some beast. OYKW is takin’ a nap. I do believe I shall join him shortly. It’s supposed to get stormy later this afternoon. We shall see.
Now I shall check out a couple things on teh intartoobz.
I’ve emptied the dishwasher, cleaned the critters’ water fountain, and vacuumed up enough hair to build another cat. Go me!! So I rewarded myself with punkin pie!
Leaving candy lying around is how you get raccoons. Just sayin’. :dubious:
We have freshwater and marine aquariums. The rock was in the “Western Interior Seaway” about 100 million years ago. It looks likemarine rock that is used in aquariums, and reacts to vinegar, so it is calcium carbonate or what ever keeps the water high in calcium.
I need to make some manicotti. There’s a half jar of spaghetti sauce in the fridge I need to use up before it goes bad.
Just got off the phone with my mother. Her life is miserable. Her choice to see it that way. Her retirement is more than I make, her house is paid for, she is a good place in life, basically healthy, financially secure and all she sees is the bad. I know people who would love to trade places with her.
I got a GOOD NEWS! email from the health insurance people. I can start shopping for my new plan today! Such joy and happiness there.
Sah-son has two big assignments due today - so there is proof reading on the agenda. At least the college website is up, it was up and down yesterday causing him a slight panic. I told him - this is why you get your assignments done early and stop waiting until the last minute. Along with that, getting them done early means you can let them sit a day or so and then reread them.
He’ll learn the hard way, just like I did.
Sah-son shows me his classwork, another student posted to the board and not only did she misspell the name of artist repeatedly but also the name of the artwork, repeatedly. I honestly don’t get it. Why even bother going to school if you aren’t going to put any effort into it? For real, you can’t even check the spelling?
If it were me I’d be saying something. His grade depends on the others doing the work too. They are supposed to post a well thought out post by Wednesday. They have to respond to two other posters with meaningful comments, and respond to any comments to their post by Sunday. That is the bare minimum, it won’t get you full credit.
Every week he posts on Tuesday and makes his two responses by Thursday. He is the only one. Usually the same four other students post by Wednesday, two of which post coherent posts, two that post total garbage. So far he is the only one to respond to anybody, he can’t respond in his own thread because nobody has responded to him. Now it’s Sunday and the posts are trickling in, and are mostly garbage.
He is frustrated, how can he do the work when nobody else is?
I hope the professor takes that into consideration when he hands out the grades.
He has an A in the class so far, but this professor is slow to post grades. He has no idea how this is affecting his grade. It’s the tenth week of class and the grades have only been posted up through week three with a few random grades thrown in.
