It's Jeopardy Online Test time, 2011

Hoooooooooooooooooly shit, I muffed that big time. Much worse than I thought

I’m doing the one tomorrow due to a conflict - I guess it’s too much to hope they have the same questions, eh?

Fuck, I totally spaced on this. Maybe I can catch it tomorrow.

They always have three different tests. I’m also doing tomorrow’s because of a doctor’s appointment tonight that I’d forgotten about.

Were those actually how the questions were written out? (I’m doing it on Thursday.) How are you supposed to know that for “DOS attack” they want “service” as an answer? Or that for “Pomme frites” they want the answer of “French fries.” Are the questions in categories like on the show?

Yes, they are in categories like the show. I think the list was shorthand for the full question, with category, especially the rhyming one (the category there would be “Rhyme Time”).

darn, I thought I did better than 21… ouch. that’s a blow to the ego for sure… Thanks for the Q&A list.

Here is a verbatim transcript that includes the categories:

I’m registered! I’m in the Pacific Time Zone, though, so we don’t go until Thursday. I think. That’s what it said when I registered, anyway.

I am glad I held off until tomorrow (well, right now, anyway). It looks like I would have gotten 32 right. Last year I got 36 (the one I took), 43, and 39.

Unfortunately, my sister took tonight’s test, and she’s a pop culture expert but weak on classical studies. I’m guessing she didn’t do so well.

I’ve decided not to take it this year. It would just be for fun, since I’m in the contestant pool already. Funnily enough, I scored slightly worse last year than I did in '09, but that’s when I got called for the audition (40+ both times, though.) Good luck, y’all!

This is actually the worst week possible for me to do it. Busy tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday night. I may end up having to not take it. When are the next ones? :frowning:

As far as I know, they do the online tests once a year, but there are Brain Bus events throughout the year in which you can try out.

And it depends which testing site you choose - they were still calling people in in September to San Francisco off the 2010 test.

The Brain Bus schedule has been removed from the Jeopardy website.

Looks like 40 for me (if they score “Pollo Loco” (my answer) as correct for “El Pollo Loco”)

I missed Bob Fosse - could only think of Roy Schneider.

Almost missed Woolf - I read the question as a “Room with a View” and was trying to remember E.M. Forster.

I think I got 38 or 39. I’m pissed off because Tuesday’s Jeopardy episode had a whole freaking category on mollusks and I still didn’t get #39. I changed “Old Spice” to “Axe” at the last second and I am a little surprised I didn’t get the Hubble (thought it was older) or Aquinas questions. But 38 or 39 is better than I’ve done the last few times and maybe that’s good enough to get called in.

41 for me. What color are the flowers of chicory? And I would have gotten Woolf if I had read the damn category.

Blue. Yeah, if it weren’t for the category name on that one, I’d have answered chicory, too, if I’d taken last night’s test.

Yeah, I guessed chicory because of the coffee thing. I said “Paul’s Y’alls” - do you suppose they might count that?
