No apocalypse tonight; from the radar it looks like the very worst weather is going north or south of me. Rained and thundered on and off all day, but in general the schools that closed early wasted a day.
Got all my March bills paid and have some cash left over, so may have to treat myself to some unplanned meals that someone else gets to prepare.
A couple months ago I added an antidepressant to my mix that is keeping me from harming myself. That’s good. But every day I struggle to go to my job. I thought for awhile it was apathy that is making me want to stay permanently in my comfy chair. Now I’m not sure. It might be apathy or it might be that I just can barely stand to go to this stressful job anymore. I’ve been trying to look for something else, but every day seems to suck so much life out of me that I barely have the energy to do anything but sit in my comfy chair. :dubious: Yes, I am still running and training for the next big race but today I couldn’t convince myself to do anything other an take a nap when I got home. And I find that extremely disconcerting especially when I had looked forward to today’s run all weekend.
Just got an order from Da Jungle over the weekend that floored me with the packaging. Item is two small bottles (1.5" thick or so), on a card about 8" by about 4".
We got this item in a box labeled A3 (dimensions 10 x 7 x 5.25, all in inches per web search), with just a few of those air pouch thingies (nowhere near enough to hold the item in place).
Any idea why this wasn’t just popped into a padded envelope? Not fragile, so that would have been more than adequate protection for the length of its trip. We live in a city large enough to have a distribution facility. In fact, DH is currently assigned to an electrical project at said facility in our area.
I’ve been watching the weather and I was thinking about you MetalMouse.
Glad you are okay.
I think I am staying home tomorrow, it’s supposed to snow all day and into Wed, at least that is the last I heard.
Who knows? At one point I saw it is supposed to be warm tomorrow and snow Wed.
We are supposed to get 4-8 inches, the armpit is supposed to have freezing rain.
Talk to the doc. It sounds like you made a good choice to add a med, but it may not be the right med or the right dose. NOT EVERY MED IS RIGHT FOR EVERY PERSON. Some meds can even make things worse. What you’re describing sounds exactly like an episode of anhedonia that I wrestled with for a good spell. It was just so hard to find positive emotion in anything. I ended up on a different med than the first one that they tried and it made all the difference in the world. Ask for more help.
The job is not great either and I’m sure it’s just piling on. Start with the doc and the meds though. Take some time off if you can. Try and get your emotional feet under you and then tackle the big life decisions.
Let us know how we can help. Sending best wishes and more {{{hugs}}}.
Not from Da Jungle, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but my former housemate once ordered some electrical components and got a big, over 2’ by 1’ box which contained… a catalogue, a load of packaging material, and a note saying ‘Sorry, your item is out of stock’.

Oh, and Spidey, it already has the location in the name of the society, and the first line of the description says where it is. You don’t expect students to read do you?
The snow has vanished, what little there was, school is back on today, except I have no classes now on Tuesdays. Oh well, I’m off to another campus today 'cos I need to organise next year’s project, and the facilities I’d like to use are there.
Woke shortly after one and couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I played with my tablet for a while, then put it down and dozed in and out till 5. Gonna be a long day. Plus it’s pouring down making the morning drive a real challenge - lane lines were virtually invisible in the wet reflections, but I got here alive, so there’s that.
One weather site said we’re in for 5-8" of snow tomorrow, but the local TV station said less than 2". To me, that translates to a foot or more. Or maybe just rain. We shall see. I was going to run by the grocery on the way home, but considering the weather, I’m pretty sure that’s a bad idea. I don’t need anything desperately - it can wait till after snowpocalypse.
And Happy last partial day of winter, first partial day of spring in the northern hemisphere! Happy Tuesday, too!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 75 and mostly cloudy for the day. We’ll have a cool down for the next couple of days with lows in the high 40s and highs in the low 60s. Weather be weird. Life goes on with round three of makeover to commence. I have no idea what we will sup on this evenin’. Possibly sammiches and chips. I won’t be able to get in the kitchen to make anything. The only thing on the counter is the coffee maker which I shall need to move so they can scrape the wallpaper. It’s like like I’m livin’ in the Little House On The Prairie!
{{{StickyBuns}}} Let the doc know the med ain’t doin’ it for ya. Maybe you need a stronger dose or a different anti-depressant. I’m fortunate that a mild anti-depressant works for me. Also, don’t apologize. That’s what we’re here for.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
{{{StickyBuns}}}. Stop by anytime to vent, tell stories, whatever. We’ll be her with you and for you.
Good news is that it is 52F now; bad news is that is as hot as it’s going to get and the rest of the week it’ll struggle to get that warm. Plus more rain is forecast this afternoon. Oh joy.
Have a few errands to run, guess I’d better get to them this morning. Good chance soccer practice will be cancelled again.
Sari, thanks for thinking about me, but the real bad weather never materialized here. There was damage north and south of us, but nothing outside of some wet weather and we never lost power (heck, never even lost Direct TV), so we were lucky this time.
FCM, easy on the snow; may it be the last of the season.
We have snow!
I don’t know how much we’ll get, and the forecast keeps changing, with TWPTB saying more snow on Thorsday and Firday.
Sah-son has a test this week so he is going to have to schedule it around the weather.
I rescheduled my doctor appointment and I got one on the 30th of this month.
Which is better than Aug 31.
I overslept this morning, so it would have been a challenge getting there on time anyway. Nothing like a cold dog nose poking you in the belly at 4am. Then he kept me up for a few hours alterating between annoying the cat and grabbing things he shouldn’t have, like my Kindle.
Now he is snoring away, not a care in the world.
Toosday is dog day, which means nail trimming, ear cleaning, and today he gets his heart worm and flea pills.
Other than that just the usual irk and house irk.

{{{{{Stickybuns}}}}}, I can only suggest you talk to your doc about the meds you’re on, perhaps they just aren’t the right ones or the right dose. There must be something they can do to help you.
Metal Mouse, we went to NZ’s north island a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it so this time we’re heading for the south island. It is a long flight for us though - we are leaving London on the Saturday evening, flying to Stockholm for an overnight stop, then on to Doha on Sunday (arriving early hours of Monday morning), leaving there a couple of hours later, and arriving in Auckland at about 4am on Tuesday. Then we have to hang around for a few hours before getting a flight down to Christchurch, finally arriving about 10.30am. Same thing in reverse on the way home, except we come back via Oslo instead of Stockholm and don’t have all day to explore the city.
Frustrating day at irk, one of our major student record systems is bust so we haven’t been able to do a lot. We have exam papers doing the rounds between academics and external examiners so lots of amendments, and one of the externals has managed to completely screw up a password-protected document so now she’s amended it, we can’t open it to see what she’s done. I has Teh Grr!
mooooom, sad news about your school shooting, I hope everyone else is safe.
Short version --------- that is just the way it is. What box or package gets used is set by an algorithm and loss prevention/anti-theft and someone somewhere understands it all. Someone somewhere also understands Einsteins Theories. I just don’t know any of them. When your order gets to the picker/packager the box and go-with material is already designated on the printout/screen and they have to go with what it says if it makes sense as they see it or not. More a thorn in my side are a version of fold-and-seal cardboard envelope like you would use for books. For books they are OK if properly sealed. The issue is they also get used for perfume and other things and tend to blow apart in the gaylord dumper. Said things then get crushed and end up on me. Perfume is bad enough ------ Liquid Ass (yeas it is a real product) is worse.
An A3 is our second-smallest box behind the A1 which is about half the size.
