It's Moanday So It's Time For A New MMP

A comment worthy of Archie Goodwin, congratulations!

Worked, got screamed at by assorted poeple, beer. Company tomorrow

“Passive aggressive shooter”?

Worse than mine.

It takes up less space than saying “the-learning-how-to cap-the-stupid-asshole-trying-to-hurt-me class”. I preferred the days when it was just “practical pistol class” myself. To me it always made more sense that way.

Upset tummy, so I’m staying on liquids today. I don’t feel sick, but the gut had been acting up since yesterday, so water and tea for the day in the hopes that it’ll let things settle down. If nothing else, it saved me lots of time this morning - I didn’t have to make lunch. But, dammit, I just realized that I didn’t scoop the cat box. dammit. They’ll deal.

Daughter hopes she can schedule the 3-hour thing this weekend. She really can’t afford to miss work - she’s hoarding her personal time off against maternity leave. I’ll be so glad when they’re all settled in with us and we figure out our new normal.

And so we launch into another day. Happy Thursday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Company today. If they come early, I can leave on time.

“Lock the door, and hope they don’t have blasters” doesn’t even work in movies.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 35 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 63 and N.O.S. for the day. I shall do some ironin’ today and also have N.O.L. with a couple of friends at Cheddar’s. Cheddar’s is OK so I’m lookin’ forward to that. OYKW will be back late tomorrow afternoon. I am ready for him to be back.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, well, the day awaits!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Happy Thorsday!

It’s N.O.S.and 27 degrees.
It’s supposed to go up to 41, which isn’t too bad.

I didn’t oversleep this morning, which is nice. It makes for a more relaxing morning and I can get into the routine.
Let the dog out, feed the cat, let the dog in, give him his treat, feed the dog, fill the water bowls, put out a clean dishtowel, unload the dishwasher, put in any dishes from the sink, fold a load of laundry, load the washer, fix breakfast, raise the blinds, log in to irk… it makes me feel productive even though none of that is really doing anything.

I’m tossing a favorite pair of sweat pants today. I love them, they are so comfortable, but they are old and too holey to wear in public.
I have a few more things that are ‘only in the house’ clothes and as comfy as they are, they all have to go.

We’ll go back to the store today to pick up the groceries I thought we were supposed to pick up yesterday.
If the puppy will cooperate we’ll work on teaching him to bring me the mail.

Well we have some snow again and its well under freezing. But Saturday is back in the 50s. I like rollercoasters but so far I’m hating this amusement park.

No, no, no! The class is what to do in case there is a [del]active[/del] shooter; not how to become a better one.

Blurfage I dropped off my car for service this morning and had one of my clerks pick me up. It is ready to be picked up but can wait a while.

I am helping interview a new curriculum director for the Child Development Center today so that is pretty much all I will do today. I was up since 0600 so I am most sleepy. I can leave early.

Blurfage

Butters, also had my car in for service, but waited around for it (you can do that once you’re retired). And yeah, I had the PII and other Security training required every single year–and they were always the same computer course with the same questions every year. Boring.

I also picked up my copy of TurboTax and Ordered new referee uniforms and a ticket for Neil DeGrasse Tyson here in N. Ali-bama in February. So I’m happy (at least until the Credit Card bills hit next month). Thinking about trying a new place here called Cookout which advertises great hamburgers (because, who has just average, run-of-the-mill burgers?). Bit of a drive but I feel like getting out of the house.

Sari, I know what’s it’s like to toss out something that you’ve worn for so long it seems like it was just made to fit you. Have an old beat up jacket that I’ve had for what seems to be forever, it’s still functional, but one of these days it too will end up in the ‘goodbye’ pile.

swampy, enjoy Cheddar’s. We have one around here, but it’s always so crowded when I pass by that I never stop in. May have to one of these days.

Moooooommm, hope you get to feelin’ better. And that your daughter has to worry about time off to take care of her baby–compared to Europe (and other parts of the world) we truly are uncivilized (IMHO and I’m not going to argue about it in the MMP).

flytrap, a Nero Wolfe mention! I have the entire collection (mostly paperback) and since I’m near Nero’s seventh of a ton, he and Archie have always been among my favorite characters…and yeah, that’s the sort of comment Archie would make.

Ah well, off in search of sustenance.

Right - more the practical side of things. I know the class - had to take one myself for one of my out-of-state permits. The classes are actually not bad ----- the name is stupid. Some of the folks around here have taken to calling the “blue gun classes” since a lot of the training is with blue colored plastic guns.

When my 5y.o. niece showed me how to run a zig zag after you climb out the window, it was simultaneously hilarious (because she was cute as a button) and horrifying.

“Active” doesn’t bother me that much. It fits in the hierarchy for me.
Status
-person with gun (better check it out)
-shots fired/shooter = shots have been fired, not being fired now, hurry up and get there but it’s quiet
-active shooter = shots are still being fired, warp 9,

My reading, right or not, is that an active shooter is still firing and has the highest level of urgency.

I think the starter is dying on the Suburban. Hubby is putting water in the battery. I’ll be over here, being supportive.

N.O.L. was good. I had a burger and fries with an iced tea. Not a bad burger but pricey IMO. I also went to the liberry for a while cause I was close to my favorite branch. Nappage also occurred. Now I am at da cave. I enjoyed bein’ out and about but am also glad to be back and in sweatpants and tshirt.

Back from shopping trip.
I bought too much frozen stuff, the freezer is overpacked which is not a good thing.

I never took one of those classes all y’all are talking about. Then again, I haven’t been in the corporate world for over 20 years.

This weekend away seemed like such a nice plan at the end of last summer, but it’s awful timing. I’ve suddenly got loads of skool irk to do, and not enough time as it is. It should be fun, but gaah…

Anyone got a time turner I can borrow?

The parents, what with the zoo and all, do fun drills, with one of the keepers in a tiger suit. Apparently it’s all serious and required for the license and everything, but it looks hilarious.

Home. I stopped on the way for a can of soup - I think my funky tummy can probably handle that. Oddly enough, even tho I haven’t eaten today, I didn’t really notice major hunger. A couple of little twinges, but they passed and life went on. There’s probably a lesson in there somewhere, ya think?

When I got home, I cleaned the cats’ box right away - I’m sure they appreciate that. They’d better, dammit!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Other than soup for supper, I have no plans for the evening. Chillage. Because I’m worth it!

Tried the “Cookout” place, it was OK, the burgers did taste like they had been grilled outside, but not worth the travel cross-town. There’s another new place just opened call the Metro Diner and they advertise a 'Mom" meatloaf, so guess I need a stop there on my list.

Did my taxes on TurboTax this afternoon, I owe the USG money (cashed in my mutual fund to buy an Annuity for retirement this year), but not as much as I expected and I’m getting money back from the State of Ali-bama. Filed the taxes but apparently the IRS doesn’t go to work on them until the 29th of January, so we’ll see when they raid my bank balance for their extra taxes. At least that job is done for the year.

Think I’ve done all the serious, grown-up stuff today; tomorrow I’m re-reading online comic archives! (Girl Genius and Schlock Mercenary, if you must know).

It wasn’t the best soup I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t bad. We’ll see how my gut handles it. Meanwhile, I guess it’s time to assume the position on the recliner. Because I can.

hops and skips through the MMP, spreading hugs and boos as appropriate

And a belated happy birthday to someone who’s got 14 on me.
